Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 26) - The SUV segment is one of the most rapidly growing in the Chinese automobile market, and is one of the most popular among Chinese consumers. Sales growth in the segment has increased from 20.2 percent in 2011, then 15 percent above the market average, to an astounding 49.4 percent in 2013, a full 33.7 above the market average.

SUVs have gained a great deal of popularity for their utility, comfort and ruggedness. A total of 1.17 million SUVs were sold over the first four months of this year, representing year-on-year growth of over 30 percent. That said, SUVs only account for 14 percent of total automobile sales in China. By comparison, SUV sales in the more developed markets in North America and Europe are as high as 35 percent. There is still huge room for development, as demand is at an all-time high.

Automobile manufacturers have taken notice of this, introducing more and more SUV models in China. According to statistics, there were 165 SUV models introduced last year: 69 of those models are brand new models, while 31 are redesigns and 44 variants. Many SUV models brought over to China have also been specifically localized for the country's consumers.

As more and more SUV models have been brought over, competition in the SUV segment has becoming increasingly fierce. In the past few years, Great Wall's Haval SUVs and Honda's CR-Vs were comfortably leading the SUV market in China. However, both Great Wall and Guangqi Honda saw their market shares fall dramatically in the past few months. A slew of offerings from other manufacturers, such as the Changan CS75, Changan Ford Kuga, Changan Ford EcoSport, BMW X4, Volvo XC60 and Infiniti Q50, have all gained considerable success in the country.

A major trend in the SUV segment has been increasing diversification. Compact SUVs in particular has been making noticeable strides in the market. They have gained praise due to offering lower emissions and more affordable prices than traditional SUVs; they have also benefited from a higher field of vision and more safety features when compared to sedans. Both own brand manufacturers and foreign brands are scrambling to release new compact SUV models. The Dongfeng Peugeot 2008, Chevrolet Trax, Beijing Hyundai ix25, Jeep Renegade, Great Wall Haval H2 and Lifan X50 all made their respective market debuts this year alone

Studies show that the majority of SUV owners are second-time buyers. A primary motivation for buyers are more spacious interiors that are more suitable for families. However, with fuel prices becoming more of a sticking price, it remains to be seen how long the SUV craze in China will last for."

Sales of China-made Geely cars fall over Ukraine, Mideast conflicts, says exec



HANGZHOU, China – Geely car manufacturers say its global sales fell as the market has become jittery amid conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
Prices of fuel rose as a result of the wars in oil-producing regions, prompting customers to defer plans to buy new cars, said Ash Sutcliffe public relations officer of Geely Holding Group Co. Ltd.
Sutcliffe will not say the percentage of the decline in global sales of Geely, one of China’s leading automobile makers.
Exports to fast developing Southeast Asian nations are expected to boost revenues, he said.
Sutcliffe said the perception of China products as substandard has changed.
“We’re now very much in the era of Chinese cars,” he said.
Geely has acquired Volvo Cars and The London Taxi Company.

Servus Geelianer ,

dass Geely sich mit seinem absoluten zu spät kommen bzgl. eines bzw. mehrer SUVs massiv ins eigene Fleisch geschnitten hat, war uns Laien ja schon seit 2010 leider bewusst ....

Ich bin jetzt mal auf die August-Zahlen gespannt....ich glaube, sie werden weiterhin schlecht sein, allerdings mit dem Unterschied, dass wenn, sofern die von mir vor ca. 2 Wochen genannte Zahl stimmen sollte, die Verkäufe vom neuen EC7 schon Ende August über 20.000 Einheiten liegen, könnte es evtl. eine Signalwirkung haben,die dazu führen könnte, dass wir evtl. wieder Richtung 35-38 €-Cent klettern könnten .

Allerdings hat das Facelift bei dem GX7/SX7 leider zu keiner signifikanten Steigerung der Absatzzahlen beigetragen. Das Fahrzeug "dümpelt" weiter um die 5.000er Marke .....

Das Jahr 2014 ist abgehakt...2015 ist das interessante Jahr .....

Hat nichts mit Geely zu tun.
Beschreibt aber wie bestraft Autofirmen werden wenn sie bei den SUV´s hinterherlaufen.

Ich will nur hoffen das BlackRock nicht wieder über 5% kommt. Bzw. komplett verschwindet.
Für mich sind das Heuschrecken und ein Grauen für jede Aktie.

Ich liebe solche automatischen Übersetzungen!

Terminliche Verschiebungen sind ja gerade ganz schwer in Mode. Wie war das nochmal mit dem neuen Ford Mondeo? Das haben die sich scheinbar bei der Konkurrenz abgeschaut.

ich finde den GC 9 schön...hoffentlich hält er auch, was er verspricht ...

Dass der GC 9 mal wieder verschoben wurde, nämlich von Ende des Jahres auf Anfang des nächsten Jahres, hat ja bei Geely (leider) schon Tradition ....

Geely`s neuer GC9 soll laut dem Bericht nächstes Jahr auf den Markt kommen. Weiters interessant ist das der Wagen auf der aktuellen Volvo S80 Plattform basiert.

Die gemischten Ergebnisse der EC8 nicht die Bestimmung von Geely zu seiner Linie bis erweitern untergraben. Die GC9 Anfang nächsten Jahres geschehen, und hat sich von Gesprächen mit Volvo profitiert.

Der erste Auftritt des GC9 tatsächlich stammt der Shanghai Motor Show im April 2013, unter dem Namen KC-Konzept . Eine große Limousine mit dem Geely ist gekommen, im Wettbewerb mit ausländischen Segment Referenzen. Dazu wurden technischen Austausch mit Volvo von unschätzbarem Wert, und die Plattform ist eng von der des S80 abgeleitet.

Wie für Stil, wurde es durch das Team von Peter Horbury gerichtet, verarbeitet jetzt das Design von Geely. Es wird das erste Serienfahrzeug, das Gitter zu den konzentrischen Streifen um das neue Logo zu verabschieden. Das Profil, das über 4960 mm erstreckt hat ein undichtes Dach und Heckscheibe, aber es ist nicht eine Luke.

Unter der Haube wird es vor allem ein 4-Zylinder-Turbo 1.8, sondern auch ein V6.

Das mit Great Wall hatte ich schon vor längerer Zeit mal gelesen, aber nur verkauf von Getriebe.

Aber wer steckt das Geld ein Geely-Konzern oder Geely Auto????

Hallo Fire72,
zwei interessante Berichte,
Sollen sie doch die älteren GX7 / EC7 an Krankenhäuser usw. spenden.
Das macht Geely bekannt. Das ist genau das was Geely braucht.

Bei dem Methanol sollte man aber warten bis Steuern draufgehauen werden.
Siehe früher Diesel wie günstig es früher war. Und nun???

Wir kennen ja alle diese Politikersteuerverschwender mit ihren leeren Kassen.
