Enphase Energy, the world's leading microinverter supplier, has this week announced it has entered into a partnership with U.K.-based Saving Energy Ltd to supply 4,000 microinverters to a housing project in Northern England.
The Northumberland Aged Mineworkers Homes Association is a charity that provides housing for aging miners who used to work in the coal mines that had previously made the Northeast of England an economic powerhouse. The charity will finance the installation of 1 MW of solar PV capacity featuring Enphase's microinverters installed on more than 400 homes.
Once the project is completed at the end of this year, the installation will generate approximately 1,038,800 kilowatt hours of solar energy annually.
Enphase's microinverters have enabled Saving Energy to carefully design the rooftop installation in order to maximize space and generate the optimum return on investment. For Enphase, the partnership represents a significant step into a growing market – echoing recent IHS reports that suggested the sector is set to expand dramatically over the coming few years to top $1 billion by 2018. Currently, the global microinverter and power optimizer market is worth around $330 million annually.
"Enphase entered the U.K. PV market only two years ago and we have grown rapidly," said Enphase's U.K. sales director Simon Baggaley. "Saving Energy was one of the partners that greeted us early on. It has been great to work on a project like this, which makes affordable energy available to the retired miners’ community."
Saving Energy's renewable energy manager Grant Speller added that the quality, flexibility and safety of the Enphase System was an attractive proposition for them. "Its simplicity is a huge benefit," he said, "enabling us to work efficiently and in a safe manner across rooftops, particularly on a project like this where the properties are all close together."
Even in the face of Northeast England's cold and often overcast weather, the efficiency and user-friendliness of the Enphase microinverters will generate greater yields than standalone modules, added Speller. "The retired miners are all very positive about the work going on here and are keen to benefit at a time when energy bills are soaring."

Enphase Energy Joins Philanthropic Partnership with Brian D. Robertson Fund to Raise Solar Awareness at U.S. Schools
By Business Wire, September 09, 2014, 09:00:00 AM EDT
Company will donate microinverter systems to nonprofit in support of K-12 solar education program
PETALUMA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Enphase Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENPH), announced today a charitable partnership with the Brian D. Robertson Memorial Solar Schools Fund (BDR Fund) to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in over 25 schools across the nation at the K-12 level. Enphase's donation will contribute to the fund's goal of installing 20,000 solar PV systems to U.S. schools by the year 2020, bringing solar awareness and education to young children.
"Enphase believes educating the public about solar is crucial to the success of the emerging clean energy economy," said Paul Nahi, CEO of Enphase. "We are proud to partner with the BDR Fund, which does a commendable job of putting solar in the classroom, both as an educational tool and a source of clean power."
Local environmental nonprofit and youth charity Climate Circle completed the first joint BDR Fund-Enphase PV installation in April 2014 at the Josephine Locke Elementary School in downtown Chicago.
The next phase of the partnership calls for Enphase to donate up to 100 microinverters and 25 Envoy communication gateway devices for small educational PV systems at approximately 25 schools this year alone. The BDR Fund will identify and select the recipient schools, handling all installation logistics.
"The generosity of donors such as Enphase has allowed us to reach thousands of schoolchildren and promote renewable energy education," said Yolanda Seabrooks, program director of the BDR Fund. "We look forward to expanding our partnership with Enphase and increasing solar awareness among the nation's youth."
Once deployed by the BDR Fund installer partners, the solar systems' visibility helps educate not only students but also teachers, parents and community about the benefits of solar energy. Teachers at schools with Enphase systems will also be able to include relevant ‘hands-on' solar data in their curriculum by using the proprietary Enlighten monitoring software.
The BDR Fund completed 21 installations and has an additional 35 projects in the pipeline. Furthermore, the organization is currently discussing new solar projects at school districts in Maryland, New York, Colorado and the District of Columbia.

YY Inc., Sierra Wireless u. Canadian Solar bereiten mir seit 15 Monaten auch sehr viel Freude ...
