BENTON PROVIDES RESULTS OF ANNUAL GENERAL AND SPECIAL MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS AND ST. ANTHONY PROJECT ACQUISITION

Benton Resources Inc. has provided the results of its annual general and special meeting of shareholders held on Nov. 20, 2017, in Thunder Bay, Ont. At the meeting, shareholders voted overwhelmingly in favour of all items proposed. In particular, shareholders voted to reappoint Wasserman Ramsay, chartered accountants, as the company's auditor, and elected the company's nominees for directors: Stephen Stares, Clinton Barr, Michael Stares, John Sullivan and William Harper.

Shareholders also voted in favour of amending the shareholders rights plan to extend the expiration time on the plan through to the 2020 annual general meeting.

In addition, the company would like to announce that it has acquired a 100-per-cent interest by staking in two claim blocks totalling 233 units in northern Newfoundland near St. Anthony (the GNP project). Benton's land position covers favourable geology similar to that of White Metal Resources Corp.'s new discovery at its Gunners Cove property, where they recently announced significant amounts of highly anomalous gold values over approximately a 15-square-kilometre area in black sedimentary shale units (see White Metal Resources' press release dated Nov. 20, 2017).

The company believes this could be a very important new discovery in a unique geological environment similar to other large gold deposits hosted in black shale environments around the world. The company will plan an exploration program to evaluate the geological potential in the coming months and will update shareholders accordingly.........

BENTON ANNOUNCES UPDATED PEA WITH IMPROVED ECONOMICS FOR THE CAPE RAY GOLD PROJECT, NEWFOUNDLAND

Benton Resources Inc. and its joint venture partner, Nordmin Engineering Ltd., have released the results of an updated positive preliminary economic assessment (PEA). Included with this PEA update is the announcement on the advanced environmental assessment progress for its Cape Ray gold project, located approximately 20 kilometres northeast of Channel-Port aux Basques, Nfld.

The 2016 drilling program provided the team with numerous insights into the nature of this project. It allowed the team to revise the geologic and resource models to better represent the intrinsic nature of the mineral resource, and make a reassessment to the overall approach and layout of the proposed mine design.

The updated results of the PEA include a pretax net present value (NPV) at a 7-per-cent discount rate of $82.2-million with a pretax internal rate of return (IRR) of 40 per cent and a posttax NPV at a 7-per-cent discount rate of $56.9-million with a posttax IRR of 34 per cent.

The PEA is based on the mineral resource estimate completed by Marc Jutras, PEng, MASc, outlined in the National Instrument 43-101 technical report update.

Highlights from the PEA, with the base-case gold price of $1,306 (U.S.) per ounce and an exchange rate of $1.26 (Canadian) per U.S. dollar, are as follows:

Preproduction capital is $54.5-million with a contingency of 10 per cent included within the initial capital; preproduction is for a two-year period;
Sustaining capital of $27-million for the life of the mine;
Pretax NPV (7 per cent) of $82.2-million and internal rate of return of 40 per cent;
Posttax NPV (7 per cent) of $56.9-million and internal rate of return of 34 per cent;
Pretax net revenue of $146.8-million over a nine-year LOM;
Posttax net revenue of $104.3-million over a nine-year LOM;
Positive cash flow is realized in year two;
2.8 million tonnes of mill feed averaging a combined 3.3 grams per tonne gold and 9.7 grams per tonne silver;
Mill operates at average tonnage of 1,000 tonnes per day;
Total production of 291,000 ounces of gold and 553,000 ounces of silver;
Gold recovery of 98 per cent and silver recovery of 63 per cent.

BENTON PROVIDES UPDATE ON BEDIVERE GOLD PROJECT

Benton Resources Inc. has provided an update on the company's progress on its Bedivere Lake gold project located 130 kilometres west of Thunder Bay, Ont.

The company has now received all required permits for exploration work that would include line cutting, geophysics, prospecting, geological mapping, trenching and diamond drilling. In December, 2016, the company completed a detailed airborne magnetic survey totalling 458 line kilometres that appears to delineate the northeast-oriented gold-bearing structure that hosts the original gold discovery (Traxxin zone), where select grab samples collected by the property vendors returned gold grades ranging from trace to 1,281 grams per tonne gold (41 ounces), some of which contain impressive visible gold. To date, limited prospecting, soil sampling, mapping and the airborne geophysical survey have provided evidence of sporadic gold mineralization along the favourable main structure over a strike length of approximately seven kilometres.

The mineralized structure has undergone virtually no historical exploration, and current efforts include establishing a winter cut grid, as well as further prospecting and soil sampling. Results received from the earliest soil samples collected range from trace to 2,160 parts per billion gold located 150 metres southwest along the structure from the original high-grade showing located near the shoreline of Bedivere Lake and anomalous values up to 74 parts per billion gold situated on the projected structure more than five kilometres further to the southwest. Recent follow-up prospecting along strike of the 74-part-per-billion gold-in-soil anomaly uncovered an iron-carbonate-rich shear zone with quartz stingers containing pyrite and chalcopyrite. The mineralization, extent of the structure and gold-in-soil anomalies, combined with nearby high gold values in lake sediment anomalies (zero to 27 parts per billion gold obtained by the Ontario government), provide compelling evidence that the area is highly prospective for potential gold discoveries.

In addition, recent follow-up to an airborne magnetic anomaly uncovered mineralized mafic to ultramafic rocks that may be prospective for copper-nickel-PGE (platinum group element) mineralization, and further investigation is needed on this and other airborne magnetic anomalies. Trail creation, prospecting and soil sampling will continue throughout the winter.

Nordmin is earning up to a 50% interest in 4 of the 6 Cape Ray deposits (see Benton PR January 20, 2015) owned by Benton by completing various work programs and project milestones as well as carrying Benton to a full feasibility study and arranging 50% of project financing to production. In March of this year, the companies released the results of a positive preliminary economic assessment ("PEA") for their Cape Ray Gold Project (see PR March 07, 2016). The results of the PEA include a pre-tax net present value ("NPV") at a 7% discount rate of $48.4 million with a pre-tax internal rate of return ("IRR") of 29% and a post-tax NPV at a 7% discount rate of $32.6 million with a post-tax IRR of 24%. The reader should be cautioned that the PEA is preliminary in nature. It contains inferred mineral resources that are considered too speculative to have the economic considerations applied to them that would enable them to be categorized as mineral reserves. The current drill campaign will help bring some of the inferred resources into indicated which will help with the confidence level of the project as we move towards the feasibility study.
