BYD outpaces Tesla 16-fold in patent fillings
EV rivals take different roads to protect proprietary technology
https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Electric-cars-in-China/BYD…

Chinese EV giant BYD has filed 16 times more patents over the past 20 years than industry leader Tesla, using legal frameworks to protect its battery technology while its U.S. competitor relies on production advances that are difficult to imitate.
Tesla applied for 836 patents from its founding in 2003 to 2022, while BYD applied for over 13,000 during the same period, according to Tokyo-based Patent Result.
An automaker of Tesla's size usually would apply for "at least 10 times as many," said patent lawyer Hideto Kono.

Leo Dennis Kozlowski[1] (born November 16, 1946) is a former CEO of Tyco International, convicted in 2005 of crimes related to his receipt of $81 million in unauthorized bonuses, the purchase of art for $14.725 million and the payment by Tyco of a $20 million investment banking fee to Frank Walsh, a former Tyco director.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan asked Tesla (TSLA.O) CEO Elon Musk to build a Tesla factory in Turkey, the country's communications directorate said on Monday.
It cited Musk as saying that many Turkish suppliers are already working with Tesla and that Turkey was among the most important candidates for its next factory.
Tesla did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Erdogan and Musk were speaking during a meeting at Turkish House, a skyscraper near the United Nations in New York, Turkey's state-owned Anadolu news agency reported.

Tesla readies record-sized pool of EV leases for bond deal, a sign of resilience in luxury
https://www.marketwatch.com/story/tesla-readies-record-sized…
...
The EV-maker began sounding out potential investors on Thursday for a new, $1.8 billion securitization of its electric-vehicle leases, its largest yet, according to preliminary marketing materials and Fitch Ratings.
The financing represents the biggest batch of leases from Tesla Inc. to be turned into bonds since it began originating them in 2014, according to a Fitch presale report.
The plan is for bankers to drum up interest in about $1 billion of notes split into five classes of bonds, with ratings of Triple A to Double A, while lower-rated tranches won’t be marketed for sale, according to preliminary marketing materials viewed by MarketWatch.
Proceeds can be used by Tesla to make more leases, providing an alternative source of funding for the company beyond the corporate bond market.
