Feedback kurz vor Großaufträgen
24.08.2000

Millionen DM.
Markteinführung des Geschäftsbereichs New Media Portale & Produkte

- die starke fokussierung auf die verknüpfung von internet-telekom-tv wird in ein bis zwei jahren deutlichste früchte tragen;
= 40*7 = rund 300 mill. euro marktkap.

Framfab’s history is long but short. The company was started a little more than five years ago. We were five people then and had only one client, passagen.se.
Now we are one of the world’s leading Internet consulting companies with more than 2,570 employees in Europe and USA.
Halbjahresbericht in Kurzfassung:
STOCKHOLM (dpa-AFX) - Die schwedische Internetagentur Framfab (FFN) hat im ersten Halbjahr 2000 ihren Umsatz um 572% auf 840,5 Mio. SKR gesteigert.

Kabel New Media will in diesem Jahr schwarze Zahlen schreiben
dpa/afx FRANKFURT. Die Hamburger Kabel New Media AG will acht Jahre nach ihrer Gründung zum Ende dieses Jahres erstmals einen Gewinn ausweisen. Dies sagte Firmengründer und Vorstandsvorsitzender Peter Kabel am Mittwoch in Frankfurt im Gespräch mit dpa-Afx.
Konkrete Zahlen wollte Kabel aber nicht nennen.
Das Unternehmen soll nach den Worten Kabels
in den kommenden Jahren zum
"marktführenden
deutschen
Berater
in allen Multimediafragen"

Razorfish Teams with Europolitan to Develop Innovative Mobile Buddies Messaging & Locating Service
System Will Expand Mobile Communications Features & Services
Stockholm, Sweden, October 18, 2000 – Razorfish Inc. (Nasdaq: RAZF), the global digital solutions provider, today announced it will join forces with Europolitan, the GSM telephone operator in Sweden, to develop what is called, Mobile Buddies - one of the world`s first messaging systems to work with the mobile locating service.
"Mobile Buddies will enable the providers as well as users the opportunity to test a multitude of innovative ideas, features and potential applications across all networks, platforms and devices, said Per Jauring, managing director of Razorfish, Stockholm. "This will ultimately increase the market possibilities for mobile communications."
The service is created for all types of GSM-phones and is targeting an already mature market.
The Mobile Buddies service adds value to services already in use without any additional installations, encouraging fast and simple user adoption. The market opportunities created by the large number of current users of mobile services is expected to continue to grow at a significantly faster pace over the next two years.
Mobile Buddies will allow the user to view the location of and send messages to friends who are in the same geographic area via their mobile phones. The service also provides features for the user to locate their family and friends, schedule appointments, and obtain information about the latest restaurant, museum and other entertainment options.
In addition, the Mobile Buddies service offers a unique service for the user to create individual bookmarks, which are also part of the location service. For example, If someone makes the restaurant Tranan at Odenplan, in Stockholm a bookmark, the system will assume that Tranan is the place where the person is present when the location says Odenplan. Other functions make it possible for the user to set up his or her own filters and rules. For instance, the user can decide whether he/she wants an SMS/ a text message to the phone when at least two of his/her friends are at their favorite restaurant or when friends are nearby.
In addition, if one makes Moderna Museet, in Stockholm a bookmark, your friends can see that you recommend them to visit it when they are in the vicinity, which adds value to all the city guides flooding the Web.
For the sake of privacy, users can disconnect the locating service or make themselves invisible to selected users. It will always be possible to disconnect the locating service during working hours or during the night.
Mobile Buddies was devised to give a state of the art service and great intentional experience, which will give new business possibilities to clients and partners. As an alliance to the project, Europolitan brings mobile services. Initially Mobile Buddies will be tested among Razorfish employees in Stockholm.
"At Razorfish, we are continuously challenging ourselves and our clients to produce leading-edge and defining work, said Andreas Johnsson, mobile strategist at Razorfish, Stockholm. "With a service that enables the user a more simplistic and exciting way to communicate with their friends and family, Mobile Buddies embodies this definition."

Kabel New Media Brighton bringt Peter RabbitTM auf internationalen Kurs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hierzu Mark Samson, Managing Director, Kabel New Media Brighton: "Der
User in
www.peterrabbit.com vorantreiben.
bieten", erklärt Max Crisfield, PR and Publicity Executive bei
Frederick Warne.
ebenso leicht zugänglich ist, also Spaß bereitet."
Kabel New Media Netzwerk hat Standorte in Hamburg, Berlin, Köln,
München, Aachen, Bonn, Friedrichshafen, Karlsruhe, Lugano, Bern, Basel,
Zürich, Wien, Stockholm, Malmö, Oslo und Brighton sowie in New York,
Washington, D.C., und Orange County. Die Kabel New Media AG ist seit
dem 15. Juni 1999 am Neuen Markt der Deutschen Börse notiert (WKN 622

Bluetooth
"Adcore assisted the Bluetooth SIG in building a new standard for wireless communication and in establishing the Bluetooth brand within a time-frame of two years"
Situation
The Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group) had decided to develop a new standard for wireless short range connectivity. The challenges for the SIG were how to establish an excellent brand for a new communication standard and how to ensure first mover advantage for investment in wireless communication.
Adcore`s role
Adcore assisted the SIG in building a new standard for wireless communication and in establishing the Bluetooth brand. This included: brand development, marketing and branding strategy, project management, creative responsibility and concept development, communications platform, Internet strategy development, Web production and technical documentation.
Success factors
Adcore’s credibility in the digital economy and the comprehensive marketing competence made Adcore perfect for the assignment. The unique mix of business and marketing development as well as technical implementation skills, made it possible to deliver in accordance with hard commercial deadlines and create the standard within two years.
Business value
Today Bluetooth is a global de facto standard for wireless connectivity and Bluetooth is one of the fastest growing brands ever. More than 2 100 adopters have signed the agreement and approximately 20 new adopter companies join each week. The companies get the opportunity of developing a variety of products with the capacity to communicate with each other through the Bluetooth standard. An estimated 200 000 people around the world are working with Bluetooth-related applications and the Bluetooth.com Web site has between 8 000 and 13 000 unique visitors every day.
About the Bluetooth SIG
Ericsson, Nokia, IBM, Intel and Toshiba are the five founding members of the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group).
The SIG was established in 1998 with joint responsibility for leading the development of new communication technology. Bluetooth technology allows users to create direct links between various digital devices and communication tools such as mobile phones, desktop and notebook computers and, in the future, domestic appliances such as refrigerators and cars.

ABB : Industrial WAP solution
Development of an industrial WAP solution for supervision and control of industrial processes via mobile telephony or PDA.
For most people WAP means surfing the web on your mobile phone – but the technology can be used for so much more. In cooperation with Adcore, ABB Automation Products has developed a WAP solution, which makes it possible to supervise and control industrial processes via mobile telephony or PDA.
”We chose to work with Adcore because of their competence both in industrial processes and WAP technology”, says Michael Rudin, head of strategic product development at ABB Automation Products in Västerås.
Background
How is it possible to supervise industrial processes with an ordinary mobile phone? For a few years it has been possible to do more than speak on a mobile phone, like, check stock market quotes, and send SMS. But there hasn’t been a considerable breakthrough. Part of the reason for this is because today’s mobile phones don’t have enough memory, and there hasn’t been a standard for how information should be sent and
presented.
But, in 1997, the leading producers of telecom products took the initiative and created a common standard for sending and presenting information over wireless networks, the so-called WAP (Wireless Application Protocol). WAP makes it possible to connect mobile phones, pagers, handheld computers etc. to the Internet for
example.
Adcore’s role
This development has taken place under the auspices of the organisation WAP Forum, of which Adcore has been a member since 1999. Adcore has been one of the pioneers of WAP and it developed a WAP solution for SMHI (Sweden’s meteorological institute). As far as Adcore is concerned, WAP is one of many important electronic channels that it must be able to master to assist customers in the digital
economy.
“Of more importance perhaps in ABB’s case, was our understanding of industrial process systems. It gives us an advantage in helping not just ABB, but other industrial companies that want to ‘webify’ their systems”, says Kristian Holm, Managing Director of Adcore in Västerås, who has worked at ABB previously, and who knows the automations business. He strongly emphasises the collaboration with the customer:
“ABB owns this solution, but we have created it together. It is enjoyable working with a company like ABB Automation Products. People there are open and full of foresight, and dare to tread uncharted territory in terms of technology and unconventional ways of using technological possibilities”, says Kristian Holm.
Success Factors
ABB’s new component-based architecture for industrial solutions combines the IT systems in the industrial structure for a homogenous user environment. It was the new architecture, in combination with Adcore’s know-how in both areas, which made the revolutionary solution
possible.
Customer Value
The new WAP technology makes it possible for service engineers to download information from the process managing systems without having to be on site. The WAP telephone also becomes an extraordinary service and managing tool, as it is possible to maintain contact with the process managing system no matter where in the structure you are. The technician can simply go in and look at various parts of the process, navigate in the structure, check status, as well as control pumps, ventilation, etc. In this way, any problems, which may have arisen overnight, can be analysed and remedied. This solution increases reliability, shortens lead-times, and reduces the risk of stoppage and production loss in conjunction with process problems.
ABB Automation Products
ABB Automation Products is a part of ABB’s automation segment, the world’s leading producer of automation systems. The company focuses on helping customers achieve higher quality, save energy, solve environmental problems, increase profitability, and improve work environments by developing and producing products which manage, supervise, control and protect various processes in industry and power plants. The products are a platform for the automation solutions ABB offers their customers around the world. The common denominator of the products is that they are open, easy to use, and can easily be expanded to suit changing needs. ABB Automation Products has a turnover of SEK 2400 million, 1400 employees and invests 25% of its revenues in research and development.

Teeing-off at the Movies
Adera Group,a Swedish web consultancy, has developed software that enables users of WAP
phones to reserve movie tickets up to three days ahead."I am a movie fan myself, and many
young people who are interested in the cinema are also interested in WAP technology,"says
Daniel Soffner,a software engineer working in Adera ´s Munich office.
He developed the prototype for the software, which lets owners of WAP phones order tickets
up to three days ahead."First, you type in the name of the cinema and its Internet address
-waprialto.de,for example. The screen shows all the films running at the cinema,"explains
Soffner.Successive pages let the user choose the date, time, row, and issues a three-digit
reservation number.
According to Soffner, the possibilities can be further expanded with the advent of other WAP
enabled devices, such as PDAs and other hand-helds.Soffner is already planning a version
which shows the interior of the cinema and allows the user to choose his seat and pay for
the tickets by credit card.
The software will be tested in Munich and available throughout Europe this summer.Cinemas
have to buy and install the software on their web servers. For the user,it ´s just a question
of dialling up the connection.
In cooperation with Epani Software and Ericsson,Adera Group has developed a new service
that golfers can take advantage of:with WAP technology, they can book tee-off times, obtain
local weather reports and get other information critical to the sport over their mobile phones.
Other applications will be possible as the service expands.Positioning will enable travelling
golfers to instantly find which golf courses are located nearby, locate their golf partners, book
tee-off times and pay green fees.
The service, which is now available in Scandinavian countries, will be expanded to Southern
Europe in October and is expected to be available in all European countries by next year.
Adera Ventrue Zone, founded in December 1999,is a venture capital company which invests
in new business ideas pertaining to the e-economy and m-commerce."Mobigolf is a good
example of the growth companies in which we aim to invest and develop. There is a large
but well-defined target group, which is financially strong and interested in new technological
products and services. Moreover, the company has a clear expansion strategy and a strong sales
position thanks to its cooperation Ericssion,"says Rolf Jansson, chairman of Adera Venture Zone
and managing director of Adera, its parent company.

Moso is the dream solution for everyone who wishes they had an assistant to keep track of all the meetings, keep colleagues informed about everything and keep you updated no matter where you are. Moso is the application that makes your WAP telephone, computer and PDA (Palm Pilot, etc.) into a single, intelligent unit. And that makes you calmer.
Moso gets WAP telephones, computers, PDAs and accessories to work together. It doesn’t matter what you or your friends or colleagues are using—the communication works in all directions. Telephone numbers, scheduled meetings, and other information that you save in one location are automatically stored on your mail server.
It is Ericsson’s and Microsoft’s joint venture, Ericsson Microsoft Mobile Venture, that developed Moso and gave Framfab the assignment of making a platform-independent presentation for Moso and Mobile Venture via the Internet.
One of the challenges Framfab faced was making the Web site accessible from regular computers, WAP telephones and PDAs.
"This is exciting!" says Karl-Johan Ekbom, Framfab’s creative director. All text information can be read on any device. Our work is based on a teaching/learning interface that gathers the answers for the visitor—you shouldn’t have to search for the answers.
The result is a complex site. The target group of carriers, journalists and others who are interested in the work will find everything they need to know in the corporate section. The Moso section of the site describes the services included and is expressly designed to attract users.
"We are very satisfied with our collaboration with Framfab. We need a collaborative partner that we can trust, someone who understands our needs and meets these needs quickly. Framfab has met our expectations, been flexible, and delivered creative, high quality work," says Eva-Lotta Persson at Ericsson Microsoft Mobile Venture.
Of course it’s fun to be part of this and launch an idea developed in cooperation between two such distinguished companies as Ericsson and Microsoft.
"We are pleased to have the privilege to work with such an enthusiastic and brave client," says Karl-Johan Ekbom. "Our level of responsibility led to mutual trust and very successful results. In addition to Mobile Venture itself being strongly involved in the work, we have cooperated with Brindfors Enterprise and the St. Luke’s advertising agency."
And what happens now that the first stage has been delivered?
"It’s always difficult to determine the rate of development and what breakthrough these types of services will have," explains Karl-Johan Ekbom. "But the technology is available; it is a question of how fast the public will be ready for it."
