Hallo zusammen,

habe einen interessante Wert gefunden, und mir heute auch gekauft. Charttechnisch ist der Kurs an einem interessanten Punkt angekommen. Die Kurse der ersten Tage (um die 10$) wurden wieder erreicht, und in den letzten Tage hat sich in diesem Bereich ein deutlicher Boden gebildet. Auch die Indikatoren (RSI, Stochastiken) sind im überverkauften Bereich, und könnten in den nächsten Tagen nach oben drehen.
Werde aber einen engen stop loss bei 10,7€ setzen.






Orchid ist Sequenom einen Deal voraus...

Einer der wichtigsten Aufträge in der noch relativ kurzen Firmengeschichte hat Orchid von einem aus 10 großen Pharmakonzernen bestehenden SNP-Consortium erhalten, dessen erklärtes Ziel es ist, eine SNP-Datenbank zu erstellen, die für die Öffentlichkeit kostenlos zugänglich ist. Dem SNP-Consortium gehören u.a. AstraZeneca, Bayer, Novartis, Pfizer und Roche sowie mehrere wissenschaftliche Einrichtungen an.
Es konkurrieren momentan zwei Technologien auf dem Markt: zum einen Sequenoms Mass-ARRAY und zum anderen Orchids SNP-IT. Beide Unternehmen sind auf dem Markt gleichmäßig positioniert. Die zukünftige Entwicklung hängt nun von den jeweiligen Marketingfähigkeiten des einzelnen ab. Es ist momentan noch ungewiß, welches System sich durchsetzen wird oder ob dauerhaft sogar beide Systeme bestehen können.
Im ersten Halbjahr generierte Orchid Einnahmen in Höhe von round about 8 Mio. US$ (Vorjahreszeitraum: keine Einnahmen) und einen Gesamtverlust von 25,5 Mio. US$ (Vorjahreszeitraum: 9,8 Mio. US$). Die momentane Marktkapitalisierung liegt bei knapp 765 Mio. US$. Es sind momentan 13% der ausstehenden Aktien in dem Besitz von Shortsellern. Paine Webber, Barclays Bank, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers und Invesco Funds Group sind mit die größten institutionellen Anleger bei Orchid. Am 30. Mai erhielt der Wert sowohl von CSFB als auch von Salomon Smith Barney ein Buy-Rating.

naja, durch meinen Stop Kurs sind sie, hab aber grad wieder zu 9,85€ bei L&S dick nachgelegt.
Hoffe, das das kein Fehler war, und das ATL bei 8,5$ hält,
jetzt zumindest wieder bei 8,9$ ....

In der Tat schaut sich Orchid überall um,möchte wohl seine
Geschäftsidee - die Bereitstellung von Platformen/ Instrumenten oder Techniken für die
sog. "personifizierte Medizin" auf eine breite Basis stellen.

So gibt es auch seit wenigen Wochen eine exklusive Geschäftsverbindung/ein Merger von Orchid
Biosciences zu einer neugegründeten Firma, die aus verschiedenen Gründen vielleicht einmal ein absoluter Highflyer im Bereich der "personifizierten Medizin", d.h. für jede Person das individuell passende Medikament herauszufinden- sein könnte.

Auf jeden Fall hat diese Firma- sie nennt sich DNAPrint Genomics mit Sitz in Sarasota/Florida- bereits einige der führenden Mathematiker und Bioinformatiker der Welt in ihren Reihen und sie nutzt für ihre Forschung die SNP-Stream-Maschinen von Orchid Biosciences.
Bereits über 45000 Einzelbeiträge im bekannten Ragingbull-Board in Amerika haben sich bereits mit DNAPrint Genomics befaßt und zum Teil auch die Geschäftsverbindung mit Orchid als sehr positiv erwähnt.
Auf jeden Fall hat Orchid exklusive Zugangsrechte zu den
zu erwartenden Forschungsergebnissen und Patenten von DNAPrint Genomics.
Hier ist auf jeden Fall noch sehr viel positives zu erwarten!

hört sich gut an und läßt die Fantasie auch in Orchid steigen. Doch warum hat Orchid diese Kursverlust hinter sich?
Ich denke, dadurch erhält dieser Wert enormes Potenzial nach oben.



Der Kurs ist gestern in USA unter enormen Umsätzen angesprungen (10,81$ +21,83%). Auch die Charttechnik ist nun positiv gestimmt und sollte einen Kursanstieg bis ca. 13-15$ zulassen (Widerstandszone).

vorbörslich geht`s grad ab, 11, 875$ wurden gerade gezahlt,
und es sind mehr Buy- als Sellorders im Markt, das ist im Moment bei wenigen Aktien der Fall.

Übrigens, hab noch einen Kommentar im GBI gefunden, der Inhalt kurzgefasst:
Titel, die trotz Kaufempfehlungen überproportional gefallen sind (CRA, ORCH, CGEN) werden den Marktin nächster Zeit auch massiv outperformen. Verkäufe waren nicht fundamental begründet!

Bin erst vor 2 Tagen zufällig durch eine beiläufige Bemerkung von "Aktienfilter" auf Orchid aufmerksam geworden, und bin dann,
auch dank eurer guten "Vorarbeit" für 9€ eingestiegen.
Die Shorties scheinen in der Tat das Spiel verloren zu haben.
Es ist schon befremdlich, wie wenige diese Aktie kennen.
Endlich mal ein Grund zur Freude in diesen turbulenten Börsenzeiten.

scoring systems that can score SNPs with a high level of accuracy and at a lower cost than current methods. This data will be
used by pharmaceutical companies and
medical professionals to develop highly specific drugs, improve existing drugs and increase the likelihood of success of tissue
transplants....Orchid`s system is catching on
with some pretty weighty players as the company recently inked deals with Bristol-Myers Squibb, Eli Lilly and Millennium
Pharmaceuticals. Each of the three analysts that
cover the stock have a Buy rating on the shares. However, keep in mind that this is a small cap stock with a market cap of $380

Meiner Meinung nach ein Topperformer für 2001 im Biotechbereich.

Het denn keiner Lust, einen Thread mitzugestalten, der sich mit einer der Biotech-Aktien der JAhre 2002 nd 2003 befasst?
Sollte sich Gentechnik ethisch und technisch durchsetzen, z.B in der Karnkheitsforschung und im Lebensmittelbereich, dann wird sich der Kurs von Orchid und auch der von Sequenom (es ist für beide Platz) in den nächsten 10 Jahren verzwanzigfachen.

Orchid Names Jack T. Ball and Michael T. Boyce-Jacino to Key Senior
Management Positions

PRINCETON, N.J., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Orchid BioSciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: ORCH)
today announced the appointments of Jack T. Ball, Jr. as senior vice president and general
manager of its Life Sciences Group and Michael T. Boyce-Jacino, Ph.D., as chief technology
officer. Additionally, Orchid announced the appointments of Russell T. Granzow to the position
of vice president of corporate business development and strategy, Michael S. Pettigrew to
executive director of marketing and sales, and James P. Marcella to executive director of

Mr. Granzow, 38, will direct global business strategies for Orchid and will contribute to

Mr. Ball joins Orchid from Amersham Pharmacia Biotech (APB), Inc., where he was most
recently president for the company`s North American region. In this position, he was
responsible for managing sales, marketing, technical support and customer service for many
technology-based products, including the MegaBACE(TM) DNA sequencer, AKTA(TM)
platform and LeadSeeker(TM). During his career at APB, Mr. Ball held a number of senior
managerial positions of increasing responsibility and expanding geographic scope overseeing
sales, marketing, technical support and customer service. Mr. Ball received his Bachelor of
Science in Botany from the University of Georgia.

Dr. Boyce-Jacino has served as vice president of research and development of Orchid since
1998. From 1991 until it was acquired by Orchid in 1998, Dr. Boyce-Jacino served in a
number of senior positions at Molecular Tool, where he was most recently president. He has
more than 15 years of scientific experience in molecular genetics and biochemistry and holds
numerous patents for his work in genotyping technologies. While at Molecular Tool, Dr.

interessante Idee, jedoch schwierig, da gerade in der Biotechnologie ständig neue Methoden und Ansätz gefunden werden. Diese Tatsache gestaltet es auf Grund der rasanten Fortschritte besonders schwierig, treffende Prognosen über aktuelle Technologien zu machen. Ich traue den "sequenzer" Technologien einiges zu, und angesichts der fortschreitenden Zugeständnisse an die Genomforschung, glaube auch ich an einen "Gen-Boom", der Orchid kräftig nach oben tragen könnte!

ORCHID COMPLETES FIRST MAJOR MILESTONE FOR ASTRAZENECA

PRINCETON, N.J., June 29, 2001 – Orchid BioSciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: ORCH) today announced that it has successfully completed the first milestone in its multi-year genotyping and pharmacogenetics collaboration with AstraZeneca, resulting in a significant payment to Orchid. Further financial details were not disclosed.

Using the SNPcode™ technology that combines Orchid’s proprietary SNP-IT™ biochemistries with the GenFlex™ chip and GeneChipÒ system of Affymetrix, Orchid rapidly developed assays and conducted genotyping for the first cohort of samples provided by AstraZeneca. In a significant concordance study to validate the overall accuracy and reproducibility of the technology, Orchid has also exceeded all of the targets established for the first phase of the program. Based on these positive results, Orchid and AstraZeneca are now proceeding to the next phase of the collaboration.

"We are very pleased to have rapidly reached the first delivery milestone in our collaboration with AstraZeneca," said Jack T. Ball, Jr., senior vice president and general manager of Orchid’s Life Sciences Group. The SNPcode system is particularly well suited for analyzing large numbers of SNPs for whole chromosome and genome wide mapping studies. Orchid is using SNPcode to develop a SNP map containing several thousand widely spaced SNPs across the human genome and plans to use this approach to develop panels of SNPs that affect critical pharmacogenetic parameters like drug metabolism, distribution and excretion (so called "ADME" panels).

"We are very happy with the quality of the data that Orchid has delivered in the first phase of this effort as well as the overall spirit of the collaboration," said Dr. Rakesh Anand, director of R&D genetics, enabling science and technology of AstraZeneca. Orchid BioSciences sets share offering
PRINCETON, N.J., Feb 21 (Reuters) - Orchid BioSciences Inc. (NasdaqNM:ORCH - news) on Thursday said it has set a public offering of 8 million shares of common stock, which it said would result in proceeds of up to $23 million.

The company said the offering is being underwritten by Robertson Stephens Inc.. It has granted Robertson Stephens an option to purchase up to an additional 1.2 million shares of common stock to cover overallotments.

Orchid said it plans to use the proceeds from the transaction for general corporate purposes, including support of sales and marketing activities for new products.
