YUKOS REPORTS FIRST HALF 2001 CONSOLIDATED US GAAP EARNINGS
Moscow, October 26, 2001. YUKOS Oil Company reported today its consolidated financial results for the second
quarter and first six months of 2001. In the second quarter net income was RUR 26.7 billion (USD 920 million), or
RUR 12.62 (USD 0.43) per share. Net income for the first six months of 2001 was RUR 44.8 billion (USD 1.5
billion), or RUR 21.18 (USD 0.73) per share, substantially unchanged from the first six months of 2000.
Yukos’ CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky commenting on the results said: " YUKOS` financial performance in the first
six months of 2001 reflects the continuing growth of the company. The increase in crude oil production of 17.2%
versus the same period in 2000 and continuing tight control over operations helped offset the impact of declining oil
prices and increasing operating costs."
While gross sales and operating revenues increased, net revenues (sales plus non-operating income less excise taxes,
export duties, and distribution charges) for the first half of 2001 were RUR 114.4 billion (USD 3.9 billion) which is
3% lower than the first half of 2000. Capital expenditures in the first six months of the year more than doubled
compared to the same period of 2000 and totaled RUR 12.9 billion (USD 442 million).
The financial statements were prepared in accordance with US GAAP and have been reviewed by
PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Comparative numbers are not available on a quarterly basis since YUKOS started
publishing quarterly results beginning with the first quarter of 2001.
