OK, Ende des Votings und hier die 1. Pressemitteilung:
INSTANT VIEW - Fed raises rates, stocks rise
NEW YORK, Nov 16 (Reuters) - The Federal Reserve Bank`s policy-setting committee elected to raise interest rates by 25 basis points Tuesday.
The U.S. central bank`s decision takes the federal funds rate on overnight loans between banks to 5.5 percent from 5.25 percent, back to the level it was before the Fed started a series of three rapid-fire rate cuts last year. The Fed also raised its discount rate on direct loans to banks to 5.0 percent from 4.75 percent.
LARRY RICE, CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER, JOSEPHTHAL LYON & ROSS
--``No surprise there. No surprise. Get it over with we`ll look at the numbers over the next two to three months and come back to it in February. Here comes a rally. Stocks will go up and then come down tomorrow. A lot has already been factored into the market.``
ALFRED GOLDMAN, TECHNICAL ANALYST AT A.G. EDWARDS AND SONS, ST. LOUIS
-- ``The Fed did exactly the best thing it could have done for financial markets. The Fed is saying: `That`s it. We`re out of your face at least until spring.```
CHRIS DICKERSON, ANALYST AT GLOBAL MARKET STRATEGISTS INC. IN GAINESVILLE, FLA.
-- ``We are going to rally a little bit here, but it is going to fall later because it (the market) is overbought. Overall for the stock market, it will eventually run out of steam. It is good news, but we are going to go back to watching every bit of data that comes out.``
ARTHUR HOGAN, CHIEF MARKET ANALYST AT JEFFERIES & CO.
-- "Now we have symmetry -- we had three tightenings, we had three easings. It`s behind us, we can move on and start to focus on earnings-growth potential and I think that`s a positive for the market place.
HARVEY HIRSCHHORN, CHIEF ECONOMIST AND INVESTMENT STRATEGIST, STEIN ROE & FARNHAM.
-- ``I think raising rates should take a little bit of wind away from the back of the stock market, and may make things a little sloppier over next few weeks.``
Following the FOMC news, stocks rallied briefly, then fell back. The Dow Jones Indistrial average jumped to a session high 10,896, then tumble to about 10758 before partially recovering.
