Acquisition of Security Consulting Group Will Extend Exodus` Security Expertise and Strengthen Professional Services Offerings

Santa Clara, CA, February 10, 2000 -

Exodus Communications™, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXDS), a leader in complex Internet hosting and managed services, today announced the acquisition of the Professional Services Division of Network-1™ Security Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: NSSI). The acquisition of the Network-1 Professional Services Division, a leading provider of security and network design consulting led by security expert Dr. Bill Hancock, will enable Exodus® to further extend its world-class network security consulting expertise and offer the highest level of protection for customers` mission-critical Internet operations.

The acquisition of Network-1`s Professional Services Division is part of Exodus` strategy to expand the reach of its Internet security and professional service solutions. Building on its acquisition of Internet security provider Arca Systems, Inc. in October, 1998, Exodus has continued to develop its suite of security products and services to help its customers minimize the risk of doing business on the Internet. Exodus will also gain two security products, TRAPS and SNAPS, external and internal penetration study programs designed to analyze and reinforce network security and integrity. Exodus plans to offer services to test customers` existing security defenses and develop solutions for preventing security breaches.

The Network-1 Professional Services Division consists of a team of expert security consultants, led by Dr. Bill Hancock, formerly Network-1`s Chief Technology Officer and a well-respected consultant, writer and speaker in the network security field. The author of over 25 technical books on networking and security, Dr. Hancock is considered to be one of the world`s foremost network security experts. Dr. Hancock and his team bring extensive knowledge and expertise in security and network design to Exodus` professional services organization.
