Auf jeden Fall solltet Ihr Euch diese Aktie mal unter die Lupe nehmen, wenn Ihr Euch mit aussichtsreichen Biotech-Werten beschäftigt. Kürzel in den USA: ARDM. Charttechnisch ist vor kurzem der Ausbruch gelungen und hier in Deutschland hat es einen regelrechten Hype gegeben, als Aradigm in zwei Biotech-Musterdepots aufgenommen wurde. Letzter Kurs in den USA 29,- $, Höchstkurs ca. 34,- $; hier in D wurden Teilweise Mondpreise von 45,- € gezahlt. Mittlerweile ist der Titel wieder fair bewertet (im Verhältnis zu den USA) und kann für ca. 29,- € in Berlin geordert werden. Kursziel auf Sicht von 12 Monaten: 100,- €!

Aradigm hat mit Genentech Phase II Studien über die Behandlung
von genetischen Drüsenkrankheiten aufgenommen.
Die Aktie wurde schon vor Wochen empfohlen. Einstiegskurse waren
so ca. bei 13 USd lt. Biotech-Report.
Ich selbst bin am überlegen ob ich mir noch ein paar Stück zulege

Immerhin wurden in den USA jetzt die 30$ geknackt und ich denke, das wird der Aktie zusätzlichen Schub verleihen. Mal schauen... Ich könnte mir vorstellen, daß noch in diesem Frühjahr 50$ zu sehen sein werden...

Es ist still geworden um Aradigm... Kaum einer kennt sie, noch weniger haben sie... Aber man sollte sie haben, egal ob schon für 13$ oder erst für 30,-€, mittlerweile in Frankfurt: 47,-€ und in Berlin auch stolze 43,-€!
Ich denke auf Sicht von 6 Monaten sollten die 60,-€ erreicht werden...

Ups! Auch Aradigm wurde von der Korrekturwelle der Biotechs an der NASDAQ erfaßt und hat mittlerweile mehr als 30% von seinem Top verloren. Aktuell sind sie in D wieder für unter 30,- € zu haben! Für mich ergeben sich derzeit ganz klare Nachkaufchancen, denn fundamental hat sich an den hervorragenden Aussichten von Aradigm nichts geändert. Und mit dem Quatsch, den Clinton über kostenlose Offenlegung der Ergebnisse der Biotechfirmen gesabbelt hat, hat Aradigm auch nichts zu tun. Dort ging es nämlich um den Bereich der Entschlüsselung der menschlichen Gene, in diesem Bereich ist Aradigm nicht tätig.
Also Leute, heute haben wir einen absoluten Nachkauftag bzw. Kauftag für die, die bisher nicht investiert waren!

Aradigm scheint ja jetzt wieder richtig interessant zu werden.
Von CSFB und SG Cowen als strong buy gesetzt ,hat Aradigm (ARDM) bislang noch nicht von der neuerlichen biotech-rally profitiert.

Der titel ist verglichen mit seinem unmittelbaren konkurrenten Inhale katastrophal unterbewertet (0,2 Mia USD vers 2 Mia USD).

Die Technologgie ist der von Inhale ueberlegen (liquid vers. Puder). Der Zeitrueckstand von ca. einem halben Jahr fuer klinische Testung des inhaliebaren Insulins rechtfertigt nicht diesen krassen Bewertungsunterschied. Aradigms Insulin eignet sich sogar zur Behandlung des jungendlichen Diabetes (i.G. zu Inhale, dessen puderformiges produkt nur eine geringe resorbtionsfaehigkeit aufweist)

andere interessante entwicklungsprodukte sind ein mittel gegen cystische fibrose (in coop mit gegentech) sowie ein inhalierbares morphinpraeparat.

Heute 24% + an der NASDAQ

Hintergrund des Kursverfalles waren spekulationen um ein Projekt mit SmithKlineBeecham zum inhalierbaren Morphin. Das Thempo, mit dem SKB das projekt foerdert soll Aradigm angeblich zu langsam sein. Man moechte hier mit eigenen Mitteln den Fortgang dieses erfolgreichen Projektes beschleunigen. Dies belastet natuerlich die finanzielle Lage, erhoeht aber die Wertschoepfung bei erfolgreicher Vermarktung.

Morgen kommen Quartalszahlen. Lassen wir uns ueberraschen.
Ich glaube, das Tal ist durchschritten.

Ich sehe das ganz ähnlich... Die Aktie hat ihren Boden bei ca. 13,- $ gefunden... (Bisher 2x seit dem Ausbruch bis ca. 50,- $ getestet) Zumindest, wenn die Verluste etwas geringer als erwartet ausfallen, sollte bald ein deutliches Anziehen des Kurses zu sehen sein und das Plus gestern nur der Anfang eines deutlichen Kursanstiegs gewesen sein... Insbesondere, wenn das Unternehmen neben den Q-Zahlen etwas herausgibt, was darauf schließen läßt, daß die Gewinnzone schon früher als ursprünglich anvisiert (2003) erreicht werden könnte...

Aradigm Corporation Reports Second Quarter 2000 Financial Results

Progress Reported in all 3 Major Programs

HAYWARD, Calif., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Aradigm Corporation (NASDAQ:ARDM) announced today financial results for the second quarter of 2000.

The company reported contract revenues of $4,804,000 for the quarter ended June 30, 2000, compared with $3,551,000 for the second quarter in 1999. Revenues for the six months ended June 30, 2000 were $10,504,000, compared with $7,137,000 for the same period in the prior year. Total expenses for the second quarter of 2000 were $13,962,000, compared with $9,932,000 for the second quarter of 1999, and for the six months ended June 30, 2000, the company reported total expenses of $26,931,000 compared with $19,128,000 for the same period in 1999.

"The increase in both contract revenues and expenses reflect the progress of all three of our partner-funded programs currently in Phase II development," stated Richard P. Thompson, president and chief executive officer of Aradigm. "Each of these programs is advancing toward its next major milestone and we believe that all three may be in Phase III trials in 2001."

The net loss for the second quarter of 2000 was $8,556,000, or $0.48 per share, compared with a loss of $6,027,000, or $0.41 per share, for the second quarter in 1999. For the six months ended June 30, 2000, the company reported a net loss of $15,751,000, or $0.96 per share, compared to a net loss of $11,505,000, or $0.84 per share, for the same period in 1999. As of June 30, 2000, the company reported cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments totaling approximately $63.4 million. In April 2000, the company completed a follow-on offering of 2.875 million shares of common stock, netting $43,355,000 after subtraction of underwriting discounts and commissions.

In June, Aradigm announced additional Phase II study results with inhaled insulin using the company`s AERx(R) Pulmonary Delivery system that were presented at the American Diabetes Association 60th Scientific Sessions. The study, conducted by Aradigm`s development partner, Novo Nordisk A/S, the world leader in insulin and diabetes care, showed faster absorption and onset of metabolic effects for inhaled insulin administered by the AERx System compared to the current standard of care.

Aradigm is developing the AERx Pain Management System with SmithKline Beecham for the pulmonary delivery of morphine for patients with moderate to severe pain. During this quarter, progress has been continuing on the clinical development of the AERx Pain Management System. The company now anticipates that patient dosing Phase IIb clinical trials will be ready to commence in the third quarter of 2000.

In the second quarter all patient dosing for the Phase IIa clinical trial was completed for the dornase alfa inhalation solution using the AERx(R) Pulmonary Drug Delivery System. Dornase alfa is the active ingredient of Genentech`s Pulmozyme used in the treatment of cystic fibrosis. Data from this trial is expected to be released coincident with the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference in November 2000.

Hallo Lennistar,

die Quartalszahlen trafen genau die Schaetzungen. Kursabschlag ist lediglich Gewinnmitnahme im insg. negaitven Umfeld. Ich denke nicht, dass man frueher, als erwartet die Gewinnzone erreichen wird, besonders wenn inhaled Morphine im alleingang voran getrieben wird. Glaube aber nicht, dass dies sonderlich von Bedeutung ist.

Aradigm ist und bleibt ein sehr interessanter small-cap biotech-wert und wird seinen Weg machen. Die jetzigen Kurse sind absolute Einstiegskurse. Das Verlustriskiko auf diesem Niveau minimal.

Thompson has been appointed chairman of the board in addition to his role as the company`s president and chief executive officer. Nordisk puts $20 mln in Aradigm
COPENHAGEN, Oct 25 (Reuters) - Danish pharmaceuticals group Novo Nordisk said on Thursday it had invested $20 million in U.S.-based medical equipment maker Aradigm Corporation (NasdaqNM:ARDM - news).

Aradigm has sold 5,665,723 shares at $3.53 per share, world leading diabetes maker Novo Nordisk said in a statement.

``Aradigm and Novo Nordisk are jointly developing a product that offers a precise and flexible system for non-invasive insulin delivery that we believe will become an important treatment option for people with diabetes,`` Novo Nordisk said.

The Danish company will retain all of its Aradigm shares for at least two years from the effective date of the agreement, it said.

The two partners are currently in phase 2 clinical trials with their diabetes management system.

Novo Nordisk Completes Phase 2b Trial of NN1998 (AERx (R) iDMS) and Increases its Investment Commitment to Aradigm Corporation
HAYWARD, Calif. / COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Novo Nordisk (NYSE: NVO - news) and Aradigm Corporation (Nasdaq: ARDM - news) today announced the completion of a Phase 2b clinical trial with the AERx (R) insulin Diabetes Management System (iDMS) that shows that the product may be successfully used to treat Type 2 diabetes patients with insulin delivered via the pulmonary route. It was also announced that Novo Nordisk has increased its commitment to invest in Aradigm Corporation with a new share investment agreement of up to USD 25 million in common stock.

``This recently completed study is significant as it demonstrates that the AERx (R) iDMS appears to be a safe and efficacious product,`` said Mads Krogsgaard Thomsen, executive vice president and chief science officer at Novo Nordisk. ``It is our goal to improve the quality of life for people with diabetes, and we believe the AERx (R) iDMS will help us accomplish this by providing a convenient way to dose insulin.``

The Phase 2b trial was designed to investigate the safety and efficacy of pulmonary insulin via the AERx (R) iDMS compared to intensified treatment with subcutaneous insulin in people with Type 2 diabetes. This type of intensified treatment with insulin, delivered at mealtimes has long been advocated by leading diabetologists for prevention of long-term complications of the disease. We believe this is the first time pulmonary insulin has been evaluated against intensified subcutaneous insulin therapy. Approximately 100 patients were included for a twelve-week period in this study.

The results of the study showed the AERx (R) iDMS to be at least as effective as intensified subcutaneous injections of insulin. The detailed study results will be presented at scientific conferences during 2002.

``The completion of this study represents a major milestone in our partnership with Novo Nordisk and the development of the AERx (R) iDMS,`` said Richard Thompson, president and CEO of Aradigm. ``It is important to note that the safety profile raised no concerns that would prevent further clinical development.``

Preparation for the initiation of Phase 3 with the AERx (R) iDMS project is ongoing.

Pursuant to the announced share investment agreement Aradigm Corporation has the right, but not the obligation, to sell to Novo Nordisk an additional USD 25 million of common stock, subject to certain conditions.

``This new agreement provides Aradigm with additional financial flexibility,`` stated Rick Thompson. ``We are very pleased to have this level of support from one of our most important partners.``

The agreement limits the purchase per quarter to a maximum of USD 10 million, starting in the first quarter of 2002. Each purchase will be based on the market price prevailing around the time of each transaction. Novo Nordisk will hold the shares to be purchased under the agreement for at least two years from the effective date of each purchase, subject to certain conditions. No shares are being sold to Novo Nordisk at this point in time and the agreement will not impact Novo Nordisk`s expectations for its financial results for 2001.

This new investment agreement is in addition to the agreement announced October 25, 2001 in which Novo Nordisk purchased USD 20 million in Aradigm common stock.

Aradigm and Novo Nordisk have been collaborating on the development of the AERx (R) iDMS since 1998. The AERx (R) iDMS uses a liquid solution of insulin, which allows for lower cost manufacturing, and includes automatic breath control to ensure that patients are inhaling each dose of insulin correctly.

Als ich mir die heute zulegte, da hatte ich das dumpfe Gefühl, dass ich die doch schon irgendwoher kenne.
Jetzt weiss ich warum.
Keine Verkaufspflicht, dass ist doch nett. Auch Zufall, dass ich nicht die vorigen Tage bei Aerogen zugegriffen habe, die auch liquides Insulin verwenden.

ARDM werden heute auch im überaus seriösen Biotech-Fachblatt "Der Aktionär" als spekulative Depotbeimischung empfohlen.

Ist das eine Aktie, die sich lohnt. Ich meine, wer will schon Insulin über die Lungen aufnehmen? Ich glaube das ist ein Scheiß Wert, warum steigt, der denn so jut. Nur weit der Aktionär die Sache empfielt und daraufhin in Deutschland so ca. 10000 Stück gehandelt werden, kann dass den Kurs am Nasdaq nicht beeinflussen, wo 1,75 Mio gehandelt werden.

Erhöhte Lebensqualität für Diabetiker: Bald kann Insulin auch inhaliert werden

Im Rahmen eines in Genf veranstalteten Diabetes-Kongresses wurde jüngst ein innovatives Inhalationsgerät vorgestellt, das den Zuckerkranken schon bald zu deutlich mehr Lebensqualität verhelfen wird.

Untersuchungen haben gezeigt, dass etwa 13% des inhalierten Insulins direkt ins Blut gehen und dort zu einem Abfall des erhöhten Blutzuckers führen. Bisher wird Insulin bei Typ-2-Diabetikern oft zu spät eingesetzt. Ein Grund: die Zuckerkranken fürchten sich vor der Insulinspritze. In der Vergangenheit war es nicht gelungen, ein taugliches Inhalationsgerät zu entwickeln, da das blutzuckersenkende Hormon sehr tief und gleichmäßig eingeatmet werden muss. Über die Mundschleimhaut wird zu wenig Insulin in den Körper aufgenommen.

Dr. Stephen Farr, Aradigm Corporation, Hayward, Kalifornien, und seine Kollegen haben das elektronische Inhalationsgerät AERx® insulin Diabetes Management System (AERx® iDMS) entwickelt, das die erforderlichen Voraussetzungen für eine erfolgreiche Anwendung bietet. Das Gerät hat in etwa die Größe einer Videokassette und wird mit sog. Insulin-Strips geladen. Diese enthalten in einer Plastik-Minischale zehn Äquivalent-Einheiten des Hormons Insulin. Der Zuckerkranke stellt die benötigte Insulindosis am Gerät ein und inhaliert tief und gleichmäßig. Nur bei optimaler Atemtechnik wird das Insulin freigesetzt. Zur Kontrolle leuchtet ein grünes Lämpchen auf, bei rot muss der Inhalationsvorgang wiederholt werden. Die eingeatmeten Teilchen haben eine Größe von zwei bis drei Mikrometern. Diese werden tief ins Bronchialsystem hinein eingeatmet. Dort werden sie über die empfindliche Schleimhaut schneller aufgenommen, als bei subkutaner Injektion.

Grund für den Anstieg war natürlich nicht die Empfehlung im "Aktionär", sondern die Ankündigung Novo Nordisks, noch mehr Geld in ARDM zu investieren + gute klin. Testergebnisse.

@brazza: Von den 10000 Stück kannst du noch meine abziehen, ich habe ARDM gekauft ohne von Förtschs Empfehlung zu wissen, aber mit der Empfehlung des Biotech-Meisters hätte ich mir es natürlich doppelt so leicht getan.

Inhalierbares Insulin hat den enormen Vorteil, dass man es eben nicht spritzen und nach einer Zwischenmahlzeit nur kurz "schnuppern" muss, statt Langzeitplanungen bei der Sprizendosierung einzugehen.
Hier sind genaue Dosierung natürlich essentiell, so dass die Phase 2 Ergebnisse und die Beteiligung vom Global Player Novo Nordisk sehr ermutigend sind.
Die grosse offene Frage für mich sind mögliche Nebenwirkungen bei ständigem Einsatz von inhalierbaren Insulin. Die Lunge ist eigentlich für den Gasaustausch konzipiert worden. Dennoch gefällt mir die Methode von ARDM zusammen mit der von Aerogen von allen "Inhaleables" am besten.

Ich bin wieder raus, was aber nichts mit den Perspektiven der Aktie zu tun hat.

Wg. Deinem Ausstieg, puhvogel: nach 100% Anstieg ist eine kurzfristige Korrektur bei ARDM sehr wahrscheinlich. Ich bin auch am Überlegen.

Ich würde mich nicht unbedingt als Referenz beim Traden verwenden, wirklich nicht. Bei Medigene bin ich auch bei 20 Euro rausgeflüchtet, mehr verträgt mein schwaches Herz nicht. Ist auch eine Form der Portfoliohygiene, denn ich habe ARDM wegen der Nachrichten und nicht wegen der Story gekauft.

ARDM haben jetzt aber keine Kleinanleger und Zocker gekauft sondern echte Fonds. Und wenn die kaufen, dann kann eine Aufwärtsbewegung schon länger andauern wie man bei ISIP (*heul*) oder CVTX sehen kann. Allerdings ist ARDM eine ganz andere Gewichtsklasse, so dass die grossen Fonds immer noch draussen bleiben werden, die Dynamik dann wohl auch eine andere ist.

Aradigm Announces Successful Completion of Phase 2b Trials of The AERx(R) Pain Management System
HAYWARD, Calif., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Aradigm Corporation (Nasdaq: ARDM - news) today announced that it has successfully completed Phase 2b clinical trials for its morphine AERx (R) Pain Management System (AERx PMS). The system delivers morphine via the AERx pulmonary drug delivery technology for the management of acute and breakthrough pain. Over 100 patients were treated in two separate studies recently completed.

``The completion of this phase of development of our AERx PMS represents a significant milestone for our company. We are particularly pleased that the efficacy of our product is comparable to intravenous morphine. We were also pleased that AERx PMS provides significantly faster pain relief than immediate release oral morphine commonly used for the management of breakthrough pain,`` said Rick Thompson, president and CEO of Aradigm. ``With these safety and efficacy data, we have achieved our goals for this stage of development.``

In a study of 16 patients with breakthrough pain from advanced cancer, AERx morphine demonstrated significantly faster onset of pain control and comparable overall pain relief when compared to immediate release oral morphine solution. More patients selected AERx morphine as the treatment of choice for further management of their breakthrough pain compared to the oral morphine solution.

In a separate study of 89 patients with acute postoperative pain, the AERx PMS was shown to provide pain relief comparable to intravenous morphine when given in similar doses. The study also demonstrated that similar doses of AERx morphine and intravenous morphine were superior to placebo on pain control, using standard pain intensity and pain relief endpoints. Adverse events for the AERx morphine were comparable to those seen in patients dosed with IV morphine. The postoperative population is a widely accepted model for studying the effectiveness of medications for acute pain.

``The morphine delivery system being developed by Aradigm represents a significant breakthrough in pain management. With its rapid onset of pain relief, it provides unique in-home management of pain in cancer patients,`` says Richard Rauck M.D., an anesthesiologist and pain control expert at Wake Forest University, Winston Salem, NC, who also was an investigator on the AERx morphine cancer pain study.

The detailed study results will be presented at scientific conferences during 2002.

Following completion of this stage of development, Aradigm will be working with its partner GlaxoSmithKline, to determine the next steps for the AERx morphine program. Future development plans for the product, including the timing of Phase 3 clinical trials will be announced at a later date.

Aradigm Corporation Announces $48 Million Sale of Convertible Preferred Stock
HAYWARD, Calif., Dec. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Aradigm Corporation (Nasdaq: ARDM - news) today announced the completion of a $48.4 million Series A Convertible Preferred Stock financing. The financing was provided by a select group of investors led by New Enterprise Associates and including Camden Partners, Castle Creek Partners and Domain Public Equity Partners, L.P. SG Cowen Securities Corporation served as placement agent for the transaction.

Under the terms of the financing, Aradigm sold approximately 2,001,236 shares of Series A Convertible Preferred Stock at $24.20 per share. Each share of preferred stock is convertible into four shares of common stock. The conversion rate is fixed and not subject to any adjustments other than for stock splits, stock dividends and other similar events. The company also issued warrants to the investors to purchase 5,203,212 shares of common stock at an exercise price of $6.97 per share. The preferred stock will convert automatically into common stock either when the company completes an underwritten public offering of at least $25 million or when the stock has been at or above $10.59 per share for 20 consecutive trading days.

The proceeds from this funding activity will be used to fund additional research and development, expansion of manufacturing capacity, operating expenses and other corporate activities. Combined with previously completed financings, Aradigm has raised in excess of $105 million in capital and capital commitments over the last four months.
