The www.cdc.com url is owned by the Consulting & Systems Integration Business of British Telecommunications Plc.

      Tuesday, 26. Jul 2005, 08:49
      Peking 26.07.05 (www.emfis.com)
Chinas staatliche Seite ist dabei ein Mulit-Mrd. US-$ schweres Konglomerat aufzubauen. Yuan ( etwa 6,2 Mrd. US-$ ) haben.
Yuan ( etwa 4,9 Mrd. US-$ ) gehabt.
Great Walls Wert lag bei 12,2 Mrd. Yuan ( etwa 1,5 Mrd. US-$ ).

Was wird dabei wohl herauskommen ??

      Thursday, 25. Aug 2005, 08:40
      Peking 25.08.05 (www.emfis.com)

      China H-Share Open End Zertifikat

      A-, B- und H-Aktien

The Company has made an application to the Stock Exchange for a further extension of deadline for
despatch of the Circular to the Shareholders regarding, among other things, very substantial disposal
      — disposal of Land and resignation and proposed appointment of Director, from on or before 13
      September 2005 to 4 October 2005.
Reference is made to the announcement of Company dated 2 August 2005 (the “ Announcement”) in relation
to, among other things, very substantial disposal — disposal of Land and resignation and proposed appointment
of Director, and the announcement of the Company dated 22 August 2005 regarding the delay in despatch of
the Circular (the “Delay Announcement”). Unless otherwise stated, capitalised terms used herein shall have the
meanings ascribed thereto in the Announcement and the Delay Announcement.
Pursuant to Rule 14.38 of the Listing Rules, the Company is required to despatch the Circular to the Shareholders
within 21 days after publication of the Announcement, which fell on or before 23 August 2005. As announced
in the Delay Announcement, the Company has applied for a waiver from strict compliance with Rule 14.38 of
the Listing Rules with which the deadline for despatch of the Circular was extended from 23 August 2005 to
      13 September 2005.
The reporting accountants of the Company and the independent property valuer of the Land are still in the process
of preparing the pro forma financial information of the Company and its subsidiaries and the property valuation
report of the Land (the “Reports”) for incorporation into the Circular, respectively. Since the date of the Delay
Announcement, the reporting accountants of the Company, together with the accounting personnel of the
Company, have worked relentlessly to prepare the pro forma financial information of the Company and its
subsidiaries based on 2005 interim report of the Company published on 19 August 2005 as required pursuant
to the Listing Rules. In addition, the independent property valuer of the Land has carried out inspections, made
relevant enquiries and obtained such further information as it thinks fit in respect of the Land for the purpose
of delivering its opinion on the market value of the Land as at 30 June 2005 and as at other dates as required
by the reporting accountants of the Company for the purpose of preparing the pro forma financial information
of the Company and its subsidiaries.
As additional time is required for the professional parties to finalise the Reports and that the Board wishes to
review the contents of the Reports once they become available, the Company has therefore made an application
to the Stock Exchange pursuant to Rule 14.38 of the Listing Rules for a further extension of deadline for the
despatch of the Circular to 4 October 2005.
It is currently expected that the Circular will be despatched to the Shareholders on or before 4 October 2005.

      Hallo

      http://www.cdc.com.cn/english/index.html
      http://www.cdc.com.cn/home_eng.htm

Fakt: Die beiden URL gehören der British Telecom !
The www.cdc.com url is owned by BT
      http://www.cdc.com.

      Friday, 25. Nov 2005, 18:06
      Singapur 25.11.05 (www.emfis.com)

      http://www.hkex.com.hk/listedco/listconews/sehk/20051117/LTN…

      So viele Fragen………..

      [February 21, 2006]
Chengdu Putian Telecom to spend 300m yuan on new projects
(Business Daily Update Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Hong Kong-listed Chengdu Putian Telecommunications Cable Co said a majority of its shareholders approved resolutions last Thursday, including one giving the go ahead to investments of about 300 million yuan in new projects. Chairman Xu Mingwen said in a statement that the new projects include the development of light-emitting display products. He said shareholders also approved the sale of its headquarters in the Hi-Tech Development Zone in Chengdu, Sichuan for 793.06 million yuan. Of the net sales proceeds of about 611.94 million yuan, 300 million yuan has been earmarked for new projects, 180 million yuan for the relocation of Chengdu's head offices, including buying land and building new offices, and about 131.94 million yuan as additional working capital.

Was ist denn "Potevio" nun schon wieder ??
      Folgendes konnte ich dazu finden:

      [June 02, 2006]
Potevio-Nokia 3G joint venture gets preliminary nod from
(Business Daily Update Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Author: dai regulators Chinese telecoms equipment maker Potevio and Finland-based Nokia have secured preliminary approval from regulators to establish a joint venture to develop 3G (third generation) mobile communications technology. The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said on its website that it has approved a joint venture between the two firms with an investment of 900 million yuan (US$112 million). Potevio, formally known as China Putian Corp, will have a 51 percent stake, with Nokia owning 49 percent. The joint venture will mainly manufacture and market telecoms equipment such as base stations, based on the 3G standards TD-SCDMA and WCDMA. TD-SCDMA is a home-grown Chinese standard, while WCDMA is a widely adopted global standard. "We are still waiting for approval from the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM)," said Tao Xiongqiang, vice-president of Potevio, in a telephone interview yesterday. With the final green light from the MOFCOM, the joint venture will begin building a plant in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei Province. "We hope the plant will be operational before the end of this year," said Tao, who is also the chairman of the joint venture. Potevio and Nokia said they would establish the joint venture last October. Under the deal, all products will use the Potevio brand, owned by Putian. In 2004, Potevio and Canadian communications giant Nortel Networks signed a memorandum of understanding for a similar joint venture. But the planned venture was later dissolved, with Nokia replacing Nortel. Prior to Nokia, Alcatel, Siemens and Ericsson have also set up joint ventures and strategic alliances with local firms to develop TD-SCDMA. TD-SCDMA remains an unproven technology as it is not yet in commercial use. Tang Ruan, president of Datang Mobile, the major developer of TD-SCDMA, said increasing interest from foreign giants will help speed up the commercial deployment of the Chinese technology. And "now some overseas cellular operators are also showing interest in TD-SCDMA," he told China Daily. France Telecom in May joined an industry alliance promoting TD-SCDMA technology as the first overseas operator. Currently, China Telecom, China Mobile and China Netcom, three of China's top four telephone carriers, are testing TD-SCDMA in three cities. So far, the ongoing trials have been "basically smooth," Tao said. It is widely anticipated that Chinese regulators will not award operators with 3G licences until the TD-SCDMA trials are completed. With strong support from the Chinese government, TD-SCDMA is expected to take a large share of the future 3G market as much as one-third, according to some industry executives and analysts. The build-out of 3G networks in the country is expected to cost hundreds of billions of US dollars.
      http://www.tmcnet.com/usubmit/2006/06/02/1667322.htm

Also. Ein Joint Ventura mit NOKIA zur Entwicklung und Verfeinerung von lokal-Chinesischen und Internationalen Telekommunikationsstandards an dem NOKIA 49 Prozent!! hält.
      ( 3G Networks. NORTEL,SIEMENS,ALCATEL,ERICSSON,NOKIA )

Chinese Potevio prepares to launch in Middle East

Chinese vendor Potevio MENA is preparing to launch its end-to-end networking, telecommunications and consumer systems in the Middle East, and will be unveiling its offerings at next month’s Gitex and GulfComms exhibitions.

The company is a joint venture by Potevio – formerly China Putian – a state-owned Chinese vendor, and Saudi investors. After signing a deal in 2005 to bring Potevio to the Middle East and North Africa, the regional team have been preparing the company’s offerings, ahead of the launch in November.

“Of every nine phones produced worldwide, three are produced in China; of those three, Potevio produces around 1.2,” said Dr Ali Saad, CEO of Potevio MENA.

“One of our main focuses is to bring this type of manufacturing operation to the Middle East; as competition comes to the region, we will be able to offer telcos the capability to produce their own branded handsets, and differentiate themselves from their competitors.”

The vendor plans to launch its brand at Gitex, and is investing heavily in its stand and demonstrations of key product lines. At the same time, Potevio will be extending the debates around key areas of technology, with events at the November show.

“As with any vendor, we want to gain as much market share as possible; but right now we’re the baby in town – even though we are very large outside of the Middle East, our name is unknown in the region right now. So our first aim is to build our brand recognition and support infrastructure,” said Saad.

“At GulfComms we will be exhibiting our 3G products which we co-developed with Nokia; we will exhibit base station repeaters, we will exhibit edge products, we will exhibit cellphones, SIM cards and microwave dishes. What we are trying to demonstrate is that Potevio is an end-to-end solution, but for both products and services,” added the Potevio MENA CEO.

Potevio will also be working to highlight the company’s manufacturing capability, which it hopes to bring into the region. Potevio is a major player in the OEM space, producing a large proportion of phones for global vendors such as Nokia and SonyEricsson.

“We are very optimistic about the participation at the show this year, and the reason behind our plans for a strong presence is due to the company’s size, and expectations for the telecommunication sector in the MENA region; the Gulf area especially is a promising and huge market,” said Abdullah Abdulaziz Sulaiman Al Mugairin, chairman of Almugairin International and a member of Potevio MENA’s board.

      Hier ein Auszug....

GT: How does Potevio’s business break down?

AS: Potevio effectively has five verticals: systems and networks – 3G systems, fibre, carrier-class systems; consumables, such as terminals, SIM cards, scratch cards, smart cards, banking systems, security systems for fraud prevention, and so on;the third side is basically ancillary equipment – things like optical distribution frames, fibre cable ( CHENGDU PUTIAN !!)
, microwave links; then there’s value-added services, such as software; the fifth side is the enterprise. What we call the enterprise is different to what other companies call the enterprise – we include banking systems, ATM systems, security – end-to-end enterprise.

JV to Start Making 3G Equipment in 2007
      By Li Weitao

A China-based joint venture between Nokia and Potevio, formally known as China Putian Corp, is expected to start production of 3G (third generation) mobile telecoms network equipment in the first quarter of next year.

But a scandal hitting Siemens, which has been planning to merge its network business with that of Nokia, could add an element of uncertainty to the Nokia-Potevio joint venture, based in Wuhan, the capital of Central China's Hubei Province.

With an investment of 900 million yuan (US$115 million), Nokia and Potevio signed a deal in October 2005 to form the 51-49 joint venture to jointly develop 3G mobile telecoms equipment based on the China's home-grown TD-SCDMA standard and European-initiated WCDMA.

The two firms had expected the joint venture to start production in 2006, but the establishment of the joint venture has been dogged by some legal issues. The National Development and Reform Commission gave the nod to the establishment of the joint venture in May.

Tao Xiongqiang, vice-president of Potevio and chairman of the Nokia-Potevio joint venture, said he hoped the venture could start manufacturing 3G equipment in the first quarter of next year at the earliest.

"The factory is already up and we will soon move our staff and equipment into the factory," he said.

But the joint venture may become a casualty of an ongoing bribery investigation involving Siemens. Nokia and Siemens had agreed to combine their network businesses, to create a new company called Nokia-Siemens Networks, which was supposed to be finalized on January 1, 2007.

Last month, Munich prosecutors started a probe into six current and former Siemens employees, alleging they committed breach of trust against Siemens by setting up secret funds.

Due to the investigation into some 429 million euros (US$566 million) in suspicious payments, Nokia and Siemens have decided to postpone the establishment of their joint venture.

"That is creating some uncertainties (for the joint venture between Potevio and Nokia)," said Tao.

Nokia has been betting on the joint venture with Potevio to get a share of the TD-SCDMA market in China. Some industry observers expect TD-SCDMA to account for about one-third of China's 3G market.

TD-SCDMA has been lagging behind WCDMA and the US-backed 3G standard, CDMA 2000. But the Chinese standard has gained significant momentum in recent months.

Last week, a TD-SCDMA project by Datang Mobile, the major developer of the standard, passed an evaluation by the Ministry of Information Industry (MII), which said the commercial availability of TD-SCDMA had been verified.

Potevio will undergo a similar evaluation by the MII on Thursday, Tao said. Potevio's TD-SCDMA equipment is manufactured by its subsidiary EastCom, based in Hangzhou, the capital of East China's Zhejiang Province.

Siemens already established a joint venture, TD Tech, with China's Huawei Technologies to develop TD-SCDMA technologies. That could also jeopardize the Nokia-Potevio joint venture as Nokia- Siemens Networks, if established, may have to decide whether to merge the two China-based joint ventures.

Tao said TD-SCDMA is "basically mature," despite some minor problems such as inadequate mobile phones supporting the telephony, as well as inadequate interoperability between different terminals.
