He holds a Doctorate in Law from Yale University and is the former Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of GOLD FIELDS MINING CORPORATION ("GFMC"). In that position he established corporate legal, land and environmental functions to acquire, permit, finance, develop and expand low cost mining operations producing over 400,000 ounces of gold/year, grossing over $175 million annually. Under his direction, GFMC negotiated a 3-way agreement for a regional waste-by rail project in southern California, defended against both Pickens and Oppenheimer takeover attempts, and handled a tax-free swap for Hanson PLC of gold mining assets for $500 million of coal properties. Mr. Flechner drafted/negotiated $150 million of gold loans and equipment leases with Chase, Citibank, Mellon and Mase Westpac; and served on budget, strategic planning, benefits and personnel policy committees as GFMC profitably grew from 20 personnel to 1200. His mining industry experience includes S. Africa,
Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Ghana, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Slovakia, and the USA.
