Rockhopper zieht heute gut in Folge des inzwischen auf über 53 Dollar gestiegenen Ölpreises an. Katalysator für weiter steigende Ölpreise dürfte diese heutige Nachricht sein:

Harbour Energy sollte über erhebliches Kapital verfügen und sollte daher gewillt sein, Sea Lion bei diesem Ölpreis zu entwickeln. Zumindest wird Sea Lion prominent in deren Präsentation (Page7) aufgeführt. Ob so ein großer Tanker Lust hat sich mit den Sam Moodys dieser Welt herumzuschlagen wenn man die Tony Durrants entsorgt? Kaum vorstellbar. Für Rockhopper dürften sich erhebliche Übernahmephantasien abzeichnen. Vermutlich war heute der Start.

Rockhopper Exploration plc (AIM: RKH), the oil and gas exploration and production company with key interests in the North Falkland Basin, is pleased to provide the following update in relation to the previously announced farm-in to the Sea Lion project by Navitas Petroleum LP ("Navitas").

Following the announcement of the proposed merger of Premier Oil plc ("Premier") and Chrysaor Holdings Limited, Navitas has confirmed that it remains committed to the proposed farm-in. In order to enable the merger to complete and the new management of the combined entity to make a firm decision on the Sea Lion project, Rockhopper, Premier and Navitas have agreed to extend the exclusivity period for the farm-in to the earlier of (i) 30 September 2021; (ii) the execution of definitive transaction documents, or (iii) a decision by Navitas not to proceed with the farm-in. During this period, Rockhopper's share of Sea Lion project costs will continue to be borne by Premier under the same terms as previously announced.

Discussions are also continuing with the Falkland Islands Government around a possible extension to licences PL004 and PL032 which currently expire in May 2021.

Samuel Moody, Chief Executive Officer, commented:

"We will work closely with all stakeholders over the coming months to maximise the chance of securing the farm out and project sanction of Sea Lion. We believe that the opportunity to invest in a 500 million barrel fully appraised and engineered project with material additional upside at this point in the cycle presents a compelling opportunity, and one which would lead us towards unlocking the value within the project long-awaited by all stakeholders."

Es ändert nichts an meiner Aussage von $ 100,00, welche benötigt werden um das Projekt vorwärts zu bringen. Bei $ 45 rechnet es sich eventuell, aber es wird nicht angegangen. Never ever. Und warum sollte man es auch tun. Man weiß das Öl ordentlich vorhanden ist. Aber man muss es ja zu den aktuellen Preisen nicht fördern. Da gibt es andere Gegenden wo es sehr viel günstiger geht.

Premier has a highly attractive portfolio of pre-sanction development projects and exploration and appraisal acreage which offer the potential for significant value creation for all of its stakeholders. In light of the current market conditions, Premier has sought to minimise its current expenditure on these projects while at the same time preserving their optionality for future growth. This included temporarily suspending its operated Sea Lion Phase 1 project in the Falkland Islands and deferring all exploration drilling activities by at least one year. Nonetheless, exploration remains a core part of Premier's business model and the Group is particularly encouraged by the recently received seismic data in Indonesia, Mexico and the UK, which confirms the significant resource potential of its acreage.

Das würde ich vom Bauchgefühl auch glauben. Habe ich auch nicht vorgeschlagen. Ich gehe davon aus / hoffe, dass der Ölpreis weiter steigt und das Projekt dann möglich wird. $70 als Durchschnitt als Voraussetzung halte ich für viel zu hoch. Das war auch vor Corona nie realistisch. Da wären die Israelis nie eingestiegen.

Übrigens halte ich RKH gerade wieder für recht günstig. Es gab einen kleinen Ölaktienhype. Da waren meine neu gekauften PMO fast bei 300%. Inzwischen backen die leider wieder kleinere Brötchen trotz höheren Ölpreises. RKH ist aber noch stärker zurückgekommen. Unter 7 Pence stocke ich auf (obwohl ich mir schon vor dem vorletzten Mal geschworen habe das nie mehr zu tun).

Las Malvinas ist für Argentinien und Großbritannien schon wegen ihren teeretorialen Ansprüchen auf die Antarktis von enormer Sprengkraft. Argentinien wird niemals ihre Ansprüche auf die Insel aufgeben und Großbritannien die Falklandinseln bis zum letzten Mann verteidigen. Nichtsdestotrotz wird dort unten niemals bei 45 USD angefangen zu bohren.
