Heutiger Benzinpreis: 1Euro, benzinpreis in 35 Jahren: 10 Euro . Also sollte sich jeder Autofahrer 117,000 : 100 = 1170 FOGL-Aktien zulegen !

UPDATE 3-BHP buys Falkland oil stake, Argentina to complain
(Adds Argentina reaction)
By John Bowker
LONDON, Oct 2 (Reuters) - Mining giant BHP Billiton
<BHP.AX><BLT.L> said on Tuesday it bought a 40 percent interest
in 14 offshore oil & gas licenses near the Falkland Islands from
British minnow Falkland Oil and Gas Ltd <FOGLq.L>.
Argentina, which has a long-running territorial dispute with
Britain over the Falklands, or Malvinas in Spanish, said it would
formally complain to Britain over the licenses and would try to
discourage BHP from exploring.
BHP signed the contracts with Falkland Oil for rights to
explore and possibly produce oil and natural gas from the East
Falkland Basin, located off the southern and eastern coasts of
the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic.
The miner will reimburse Falkland $10 million in historical
costs and has agreed to drill a minimum of two exploration wells
in the next three years.
Shares in Falkland ended 5.17 percent higher -- rounding off
a bumper 10 weeks for shareholders in the small firm.
Since it first said it was in talks with a major resources
company on July 23, Falkland's stock has risen to 175 pence from
a closing price of 81p the trading day before the discussions
were announced.
"This is a landmark deal for Falkland Oil & Gas. The
introduction of a major company as a farm-in partner has been a
key strategic objective over the last 18 months," Chief Executive
Tim Bushell said in a statement.
Falkland's success has seen investors pile into explorers in
the same geographical area. Shares in Desire Petroleum <DES.L>
and Global Petroleum <GBPq.L>, which has a stake in Falkland Oil,
both moved up.
BHP's London shares ended down 4.41 percent at 1,735p and its
Australian shares were trading down 1.37 percent on Wednesday.
A source at Argentina's Foreign Ministry said the country
will send notes to the companies involved to discourage them and
warning them of possible legal sanctions if they explore in the
disputed area.
"The Argentine government will formally protest to Britain
over this new unilateral act that illegitimately pretends to
authorize hydrocarbon exploration activities in areas of the
continental shelf subject to Argentine sovereignty and
jurisdiction," the source told Reuters.
In 1982 Argentina's then military government invaded the
islands just 300 miles (480 km) from its coast and tried to claim
them from Britain. More than 900 people died in a 73-day war with
Britain, which Argentina lost.
Argentina said in March it would bar from doing business in
Argentina any oil companies exploring for petroleum in the
islands under British law.
According to a map on its Web site, BHP Billiton does not
operate in Argentina.

Gruss

2 October 2007
Falkland Island Licenses
BHP Billiton announced today that it has acquired an interest in 14 exploration and production licenses offshore the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic. The Company signed contracts with Falkland Oil and Gas Limited (FOGL) for rights to explore and, if successful, eventually produce oil and gas from the East Falkland Basin located off the southern and eastern coast of the Falkland Islands.
BHP Billiton holds a 40 per cent interest in the acreage and is the designated operator. Falkland Oil and Gas Limited hold the remaining 60 percent interest. The production licenses cover approximately 18 million acres and are located in water depths ranging from approximately 656 to 6,570 feet (approximately 200 to 2,000 meters).
"We believe this substantial Falklands acreage will be a good addition to BHP Billiton Petroleum’s global portfolio and we look forward to working with our partner to pursue this under explored area," said Steve O’Rourke, President, Exploration, BHP Billiton Petroleum. "With our strong focus on growth, we now hold a significant interest in this high potential basin and will utilise the talent of our team to safely execute an exploration program in the Falkland Islands."
