Falkland Oil and Gas provides Isobel Deep update; technical issues fully resolved

Drilling operations on Isobel Deep have recommenced.
Falkland Oil and Gas Limited, the exploration company focused on its extensive licence areas to the North, South and East of the Falkland Islands, is providing an operational update on the 14/20-1 'Isobel Deep' well that was spudded, by Premier Oil as operator, on 8th April 2015.

The technical issues relating to the blow-out preventer control system have now been fully resolved and drilling operations on Isobel Deep have recommenced. Whilst these repairs were being undertaken the rig was utilised to drill top-hole sections and set conductors on the Chatham and Jayne East Locations. On Jayne East, (FOGL 40% interest) the 36' conductor was set at a depth of 541metres and the well temporarily suspended. Drilling on Jayne East will recommence when the rig returns after the Humpback well in the South Falklands Basin.

The Isobel Deep well is expected to take approximately 15 days to complete. A further release will be issued once logging is completed.

The Company is fully carried through the costs of the Isobel Deep and Jayne East wells by Premier Oil and Rockhopper Exploration and therefore, is not impacted by these operational issues.

Falklands' Oil Drilling at Isobel Deep Suspended

Oil explorers drilling in the waters north of the Falkland Islands have suspended work on the second well of their 2015 current six-well drilling campaign after a technical problem.

Operator Premier Oil has suspended operations on the 4/20-1 (Isobel Deep) well, following a problem detected on the drilling rig blowout preventer, BOP, according to partner Falkland Oil and Gas Ltd.

Ocean Rig semisubmersible Eirik Raude is performing the drilling program. The company says that the rig, completed in 2002, is equipped for drilling operations in water depths from 500 to 2,500 meters.

FOGL said that the problem was detected after the 13⅜-in. casing was set, performed at a water depth of 1,274m, located on license PL004a. The well was spud on April 8, after success in the first well Zebedee.

The BOP has been brought to surface for inspection and repair, which are anticipated to take 10-14 days. While these repairs are being undertaken, the rig will be utilized to drill the top-hole sections and set the conductor(s) on the Chatham and/or Jayne East projects.

Planänderung durch den Argos-Deal. Nur noch eine Bohrung im Südbassin und damit nur noch vier Löcher für FOGL. Tim Bushell verkauft das ganze zeckoptimistisch: "this decision leaves FOGL in a stronger financial position." Als Falklandaktionär wird man echt für beknackt gehalten und vermutlich liegt er da goldrichtig.

Also ich verstehe es "als Ausgleich für die drilling costs". Die sind ja eh zu bezahlen. Da diese ja fast genauso hoch sind wie die Liquidität, macht es eigentlich kein Sinn das Risiko einzugehen, wenn denn die Berechnung des Analysten stimmen.

Ich hoffe daher, dass man für alle möglichen Eventualitäten schon einen diskreten Rahmenvertrag mit Noble ausgehandelt hat. Meine Hoffnung ist, dass nach der Bohrserie Noble den ganzen Laden übernimmt. Mit ein bisschen Glück, so um den einen Euro. Mehr ist vermutlich bei dem Ölpreis aktuell nicht drin und ich würde hier mit einem kleinen Gewinn raus können.

Noble ist der natürliche Partner für die Falklands. Übernehmen die Amis den Laden vollständig, hat sich jede Diskussion um eine argentinische Bedrohung erledigt.

Heißt ... when adjusted for drilling costs ... nicht, dass damit der Mehrwert nach Kosten gemeint ist?

Ich finde das nicht so schlimm, wenn sich die Analysten zurückhaltend äußern. Man merkt ja auch hier im Thread, dass die Kampagne nicht so viel Resonsanz auslöst.

Dann wäre es wohl besser gewesen auf die Kampagne ganz zu verzichten und die Liquidität auszuschütten

Da hast Du Dir ja nur die negativen Kommentare rausgesucht. Wenn man das so liest fragt man sich warum Premier weiter Geld verschwendet.

Für mich war folgendes nicht unerheblich:

In addition to the two principal reservoirs a further F2 reservoir was encountered above the Zebedee fan at 2436.6m measured depth and is also oil bearing. The Well gross reservoir thickness was 6.4m and net oil pay was 2.6m. Nicht viel aber ein add on

Good oil shows were also recorded at the deeper F3 targets but at this location the sands are not well developed.
