NEW YORK, June 13 (newratings.com) - Analysts at B Riley & Co initiate coverage of OpenTV Corp (OPTV.NAS) with a "buy" rating. The target price is set to $4.30.

In a research note published on June 10, the analysts mention that the company is well positioned to grow in the interactive television market. According to the analysts, the revenues of OpenTV`s middleware segment are expected to increase by 24% and 15% during FY05 and FY06, respectively, driven by the increased adoption of digital STBs. The company is likely to generate positive cash flows in 4Q05 on account of the increase in application deals with cable and satellite operators in 2H05, B Riley & Co adds.

let me jump in as far as analysis goes...and true i have been pumping the stock, but in a few days you will see it is for good reason:

1. At very least, OPTV has the grab and go technology that an interactive cable or satellite provider can have on the cheap. An acquisition, while fruitful to investors in the short run, may actually steal OPTV shares cheap. I don`t think this is what is happening now...obviously it can in the future
Therefore, downside risk is very limited due to their patents and application technology.

2. They have beat earnings 2 qtrs in a row. This qtr. the consesus is -$.02. I don`t think for a minute they are going to miss or come in line. They should beat and if they break even for the qtr. we go up, so nobody in their right mind is selling before earnings.

3. RBC conference tomorrow. At least some analyst coverage out of it, if not more announcements...IMO, nobody selling before arnings b/c I feel the two events will feature announcements that will be tied.

4. Word is out that someone very much close to the companies knows there is something up--sure you hear this alot on the msg. boards and it is usually full of crap--all i can say is read the analysts notes from Kuafman Bros. I can assure you that analysts source is not some fool on the messga boards...let`s leave it at that.

OpenTV hat damals Spyglass übernommen ich glaube der Kurs war bei knapp über 200 DM (OpenTV).
Spyglass hat noch einen kurzen Sprung über die 100 DM in
Berlin gemacht.Und seitdem geht es nur noch abwärts..
obwohl sie auch schon tiefer lag....
