AUSTIN, TEXAS--(MARKET WIRE)--May 16, 2006 -- Uranium Energy Corp ("the Company") (OTC BB:URME.OB - News)(FWB:U6Z)(Berlin:U6Z.BE - News) has acquired the exclusive rights to a uranium database consisting of 40 years worth of uranium exploration and development results, gathered largely from the South Texas uranium trend, where Uranium Energy Corp has already been actively acquiring historically drill-proven uranium deposits, on the basis of exploration databases.
The rights to this exploration database and a significant knowledge base as well, are provided to the Company by James A. Knupke, Consulting Geologist of Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Knupke has been active in oil and gas and uranium exploration and development in South Texas since 1953. He was employed and contracted as an exploration geologist by the Continental Oil Company (now Conoco Phillips), in their uranium division out of Corpus. While in independent practice, he also developed significant uranium prospects which he contracted to Tennessee Valley Authority and Central Power and Light and others. Mr. Knupke was responsible for the development of prospects that resulted in the discovery of several million-pound-plus uranium deposits throughout South Texas. Many of these deposits were abandoned in the early 1980s, and still unclaimed, are being aggressively leased by Uranium Energy Corp's land tenure department.
Mr. Knupke has been contracted by Uranium Energy Corp to provide further guidance on the acquisition of historically-proven uranium deposits.
The database itself consists of volumes of data made up of drill logs, drill hole location maps, and various geological reports. It is estimated that the database contains drill logs for 45,000 feet of uranium drill core, and the drill hole location maps covering over 250,000 additional feet, throughout Karnes, Duval, Starr, Live Oak, Jim Hogg, Webb counties, all in South Texas.
