... dieses Procedere wurde doch auch schon von offizieller Seite (AELB) so bestätigt, weswegen mich das "und so wie es aussieht" etwas wundert.

PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Rare earths firm Lynas has launched defamation proceedings against the naysayers of its processing plant in Malaysia.

In its March quarterly results report, the Australia-based company stated that it had started proceedings against the Save Malaysia Stop Lynas group and a number of media organisations relating to “false and misleading statements”.

The Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (Lamp) has been subject to controversy since the Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) approved a two-year temporary operating licence (TOL) in February this year. The TOL was challenged by a group of individuals applying to the High Court for leave to apply for a judicial review of the decision by the AELB.

This application was denied by the court on the basis that an appeal was in progress to the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The Minister’s decision was expected shortly.

Lynas said on Monday that at the end of the period under review, construction of phase one of the Lamp was 98% complete, and pre-commissioning test packs were more than 85% complete.

The first kiln feed was expected in the second quarter of the year, subject to the granting of the TOL.

Meanwhile, Lynas reported that its Western Australian operations continued to perform ahead of management’s expectation.

The concentrator plant was achieving a higher-than-planned recovery rate and final concentrate grades remained in line with expectations. At the end of the quarter, the company had some 11 196 t of concentrate, containing 4 029 t of rare earth ore bagged on site, and ready for export.

The miner also increased the mineral resource estimate at its Mount Weld project to 23.9-million tons, at an average grade of 7.9% rare earth ore, following an extension drilling programme last year. The project is estimated to host some 1.9-million tons of rare earth ore.

This was a 37% increase on the previous estimate and a 34% increase in the contained rare earth ore.

Finde ich auch.

Zum Shorten gibt es doch bessere Kandidaten.

Vielleicht fährt Lynas völlig an die Wand, dann sind die Shorts natürlich klasse.

Die Shortquote ist schon aussergewöhnlich. Was erwarten sich die?
Dass die TOL nicht ausgehändigt wird? Weitere Produktionsverzögerungen?
Relativ unwahrscheinliche Szenarien für so ein Risiko.
Falls der "Känguruh-Dollar" nochmal kommt, macht das das Kraut auch nicht fett.

Jaja, klar!

Und Shorts müssen irgendwann gecovert werden. Wenn die auf dem falschen Fuß erwischt werden, bekommen die Panik. Würde mich nicht wundern, dass es zu extremen Kursausschlägen kommt in ein paar Tagen. Die Konsolidierung könnte bald zuende sein. Schauen wir mal, ich bin immer noch Optimist!

Es gab einen Investor Call (s. HC). Leider keine echten Neuigkeiten, nur das Lynas die Ausgabe der TOL in Kürze erwartet. Und so wie es aussieht wurde auch noch nicht angefangen Erz nach Malaysia zu transportieren. Es wird nichts gemacht bis die TOL ausgegeben wurde.

Metals and mining firm, Lynas Corporation, has begun defamation proceedings against an online Malaysian news service relating to what it claimed to be false and misleading statements published in its recent article. Nonetheless short interest has increased by a third to 6.1% of the total shares, which represents two-thirds of the available supply of shares that can be borrowed, meaning it would be hard to short more of the company.
