I love the commentary - makes me laugh.

      - 2 wells drilled - PSA confirmed - game on!!
      - It has nothing to do with a discovery nor failure.

      This is no cooking oil..
Encouraging test results, should see this fly..
Same source who was correct about kea!

Many thanks, Staberhuk und Resources for thumbs up :)

Tullow had previously predicted that the Ngamia wells could yield billions of barrels, well above the commercial threshold for a pipeline development of 250-300 million barrels. Tullow's second bellwether rig components have already landed in Mombasa port. The rig was planned to drill secondary wells at the Ngamia1 as well as other blocks in the Turkana north blocks as the company engages a higher drilling gear buoyed by the encouraging results in Ngamia1. [...]

Zitat von motz1: [...] South Sudan has 7 billion in proven reserves, the country's energy minister Stephen Dhieu Dau said. [...]
"We believe from the indications that we've been given that we if we are lucky we might have as much oil as (South) Sudan. [...] said Murungi.

Bei den genannten möglichen Mengen werden die zitierten langsam etwas optimistischer :look:.

Ein paar weitere Details zu den Infrastruktur und Pipeline-Plänen:
      - 2 Raffinerien
      - Lamu-Hafen

Kenya To Champion Oil Supply In East Africa
      Posted on August 13, 2012 07:40 am

VENTURES AFRICA – Kenya is forging partnerships with neighboring East African countries that will see the construction of several oil pipelines as it seeks to become the hub for refined oil products in the region.

Kenya’s Energy Minister Kiraitu Murungi has reveled plans to construct a pipeline to supply oil to Tanzania.

“We shall talk to the government of Tanzania to see how we can supply them through a pipeline to Arusha,” said Murungi.

Kenya will also partner with South Sudan to build a 2,000km crude oil pipeline between the two countries starting June next year. The $3 billion pipeline will be used to transport between 700,000 to one million barrels of crude oil from South Sudan to other countries via the proposed Lamu Port in Kenya.

“A turn-off branch is also scheduled for construction to link Ethiopia. “We expect the pipeline to be up and running by June 2015,” said Murungi.

Kenya is also planning to build a refinery in Isiolo which will be crucial once commercial exploitation of oil reserves recently discovered in Turkana County kick off. Another pipeline will be built to link the Isiolo refinery to Nakuru town for distribution of products to western Kenya and northern Uganda.

“We hope to make Isiolo a hub for refined products both from Kenya and South Sudan. Our prime concern will be to satisfy the domestic needs and those of the region. Any excesses will be pumped and exported through the port of Lamu,” he said.

Energy permanent secretary Patrick Nyoike adding that feasibility on the planned Isiolo refinery will begin soon.

“We are looking at a refinery with a capacity of processing a minimum 100,000 barrels a day because any capacity below that would not be economically viable,” said Nyoike.

Kiraitu said Kenya will begin exporting its oil after it meets domestic demand.

“We are only going to export what we don’t need, fast tracking the construction of the pipeline would come in handy when looking at exporting the extra oil that we expect as we continue to discover more wells,”

Tullow Oil Plc, the company exploring oil in Kenya has indicated the oil find in Ngamia-1 could be larger than Uganda’s.

This ongoing wildcat is an excellent start to our exploration campaign. The net pay encountered so far in Ngamia-1 is more than double that encountered in any of our East African exploration wells to date. We now look forward to the drilling and evaluation of the deeper potential of this well and the acceleration of our seismic and drilling campaigns in the region.” said Angus McCoss, Exploration Director at Tullow in a statement in May this year.

UPDATE 2-S.Sudan says oil pipeline via Kenya to cost $3 bln

      Fri Aug 10, 2012 3:11pm GMT
Landlocked country seeks to end reliance on Sudan

      * Crude reserves to act as guarantee for financiers
      * Kenya plans new refinery

      By Kelly Gilblom

NAIROBI, Aug 10 (Reuters) - A pipeline allowing South Sudan to export its oil via the Kenyan port of Lamu, freeing the landlocked country from reliance on a route through Sudan, will cost $3 billion, Finance Minister Kosti Manibe said.

Manibe said that although South Sudan did not have the money to pay for the pipeline's entire cost, the newly independent country would invest in the project and had the necessary reserves of crude to offer guarantee to any financiers.

"The 2,000 km pipeline will cost approximately $3 billion dollars," he told a news conference in Nairobi on Friday.

"We don't need to have the money right now, we have the reserves," he said. "South Sudan will definitely have equity in the pipeline," he added.

Officials expect construction on the pipeline will begin by June 2013 and last two years. They said it will be able to transport between 700,000 barrels and 1 million barrels of Southern Sudanese crude per day.

South Sudan has 7 billion in proven reserves, the country's energy minister Stephen Dhieu Dau said.

South Sudan seceded from Sudan last year and the two countries have disagreed over how much the Juba government should pay to transport its oil output through Sudan.

They reached an interim deal last Friday, ending a row that led to the shutdown in January of southern oil production of 350,000 barrels per day.

Oil is essential to both economies and made up 98 percent of South Sudan's budget.

China was the biggest buyer of South Sudanese oil before the shutdown, and Chinese state firms are the biggest oil operators in the world's youngest country.

In January, South Sudan signed an agreement with neighbouring Kenya, the region's largest economy, to build the pipeline to connect its oil fields with Lamu, which is under construction.

The pipeline could also transport crude from Kenya's Turkana area, where British explorer Tullow Oil found oil deposits in March should they be prove to be commercially viable, said Kiraitu Murungi, Kenya's energy minister.

"We believe from the indications that we've been given that we if we are lucky we might have as much oil as (South) Sudan. Any extra that we don't use in the country we are going to put in the same pipeline as the Sudanese oil and export it through the port of Lamu," said Murungi.

Murungi said the country is also planning to build a second refinery in the northeastern town of Isiolo to produce up to 100,000 barrels per day and refine crude from Turkana.

Kenya already has another refinery near the port of Mombasa, processing 1.6 million tonnes of crude a year.
