ich denke wir werden heute nichts Neues seitens des Operators hören. Kann mir nicht vorstellen das sie sich selber unter Druck setzen vor dem Wochenende noch liefern zu müssen. Lasse mich aber gerne eines Besseren belehren.

Kenya: Tullow Suspends Oil Search At Ngamia 1

The second stage of oil search at the Ngamia-1 well in Turkana will remain suspended for an unknown period of time, as Tullow oil waits for its equipment to arrive.
Tullow Oil Kenya operations manager Hans Meijers said he is not sure when the appraisal works at the site may start. "I do not know when we will start the appraisal, but we are moving on with exploration in other drilling sites which might give us a better idea on what to expect in the block we have already found high prospects of presence of oil," said Meijers.
A Kenya Revenue Authority official said they have been fast tracking processes involved for clearance of Tullow's appraisal stage equipment which have been offloading at the port for the last three months. The appraisal works were expected to start a couple of months ago. Meijar said Tullow oil will start drilling exploratory oil well at its Twiga-1 site before the end of this year based on the 500 kilometres of 2D seismic data map showing 3 prospects and 3 leads in Block 13T. "There is no transport infrastructure in this area which makes it very difficult to operate, and we have to make roads for the 150 lorry loads of equipment haul," Said Meijars.
Initially Tullow was scheduled to drill its second well at Paipai site in block 10A before a change of mind midstream to move to Twiga-1 in block 13T adjacent to block 10BB where Ngamia-1 well is located. The Ngamia-1 exploration yielded 140 meters of net oil pay in multiple reservoir zones, before drilling was stopped at just over 2000 metres of the planned 2700 after encountering barren hard rocks.
The oil has similar properties to the light waxy crude discovered in Uganda by Tullow Oil. Meijers said aerial exploration in block 12B in the Lake Victoria Basin will begin in August. Tullow oil jointly holds the operating license for the block with Swala Energy, a company registered in British Virgin Islands one and a half year ago.

Die detailliertere IR scheint von EITS auszugehen. Ich bin mal gespannt ob die Quelle versiegt oder ob sie weiterhin vor AOI sprudelt. Schon beachtlich über welche Informationen die Quelle zu welchen Zeitpunkten verfügt.

Just to clarify - we don't know if there is water - but with very well you drill around the world there are always several possibilities: not flowing at all, flowing oil, flowing gas, flowing water - there is often a combination of oil and water - that is quite normal - it's just a problem if the ratios are wrong. I think what there were trying to say with the release is that we've got oil shows which is great, but they put in a reminder that until we test the well, we won't really know what the well is going to flow.

... Also mit vollem Respekt..., aber das was wir bislang bei SN-1 haben mit Ngamia zu vergleichen, ist vollkommener Quatsch...
Ngamia-1 ist vermutlich die bislang größte Onshore-Well südlich der Sahara in Afrika... Und wir haben bei SN-1 noch etwa 400m zu drillen - da gibt es vielleicht noch ein paar positive Überraschungen...
Wir wissen über die 50m Oil Zone bislang nichts. Vielleicht ist gibt es dort eine große zusambenhängende Pay Zone - who knows... Jedenfalls wird es getestet und das macht man nicht, weil man gerade nichts besseres vor hatte...
Die immer wieder gerne zum Vergleich für Ngamia herangezogene erste Uganda well Waraga-1 produzierte aus 4,6m Net pay in vergleibarer Tiefe 4.200 bopd!!
Jetzt sollte man einfach mal abwarten. (heute wir es in London bestimmt sehr funny, angesichts der etwas kryptischen Formulierungen in der News...)

In respinse to Paul1828 - there is no controlled release of news as far as I am aware. The drilling stopped approximately 7 days ago at 1920 meters and the company then spent a while running casing to secure the well integroty before drilling on. Well was then drilled down to 1967meters and set up to flow test. Getting the flow test ready was a bit of a pain as mechanical issues meant that two of the packers failed to set so it was only yesterday morning that the well was ready for flow testing (a delay of 3-4 days). It should be 48 hours or so from yesterday to get a good idea of what the results will be (but there could be slight delays on this too). The oil shows we have had so far are very good (better than the shows on Shabeel) but the flow test will tell. Nobody knows the flow test result at the moment because they have not finished testing yet.
Horn put out an RNS yesterday afternoon so they are pretty much updating all in real time. They definitely do not "already know the result" and are keeping back news for later - that is just not true.
Once testing at this depth is completed the plan is to drill on and get to the juicy bits below but it is a good sign that we are stopping to flow test already.

50m gross sind nicht einmal 1/10 dessen was man in Ngamia an Gross Sections gefunden hat
, denke das sind keine Champagner-News, hoffe natürlich trotzdem auf gute flowrates, aber die string of pearls würden mich momentan mehr interessieren
