US company Albemarle was due to complete four weeks of due diligence on Liontown on Friday, meaning it will likely clarify within days whether it will push ahead with its preliminary proposal to pay $3 for each Liontown share.

Mrs Rinehart’s company Hancock Prospecting issued a statement after the close of trading on Friday to declare it had bought more shares and taken its Liontown stake to 16.7 per cent.
That has pushed Mrs Rinehart above Liontown chairman Tim Goyder, who has been the company’s biggest shareholder for years with a stake that currently stands at 15 per cent.
“Hancock is now Liontown’s largest shareholder. Hancock welcomes the opportunity to participate in the Kathleen Valley project as a shareholder, and have an influence on the company’s overall future direction – including where decisions are to be made by shareholders,” Hancock said in a statement.
Shareholders will likely get a chance to vote on Albemarle’s offer, with a scheme of arrangement expected to require support from 75 per cent of votes cast.
Some shareholders choose not to vote in such situations, meaning that a stake of 16.7 per cent would be very close to a blocking stake in its own right, and could block the deal with minimal support from other shareholders.

- wenn sie dafür ist macht es keinen Sinn, denn dann hat sie nichts verdient; ihr darf bei einer Übernahme nicht mehr geboten werden als allen anderen Aktionären und ich glaube nicht dass Albemarle im aktuellen Umfeld nachlegen wird;

Australia's Hancock inches towards blocking stake in Liontown amid Albemarle bid
Oct 2 (Reuters) - Australian billionaire Gina Rinehart's Hancock Prospecting increased its stake in lithium miner Liontown Resources (LTR.AX), the company said, moving it closer to being able to block a $4.3 billion bid by U.S.-based Albemarle (ALB.N) for Liontown.Hancock said on Friday it raised its stake from 10.7% last month to 12.4%, paying no more than A$3.00 per additional share. Hancock would be able to block the Albemarle deal with a 15% position.
Last month, Liontown accepted Albemarle's revised $4.3 billion bid, or A$3 a share. Albemarle, the world's largest lithium producer, is seeking to secure supplies of the key electric vehicle battery metal. The offer is part of a surge of interest in Australian lithium assets amid the clean energy transition.
Hancock said last month it may seek a position on Liontown's board and could help the company bring its lithium resources to production.

Und warum genau glaubst du dass sich da was anbahnt?
Ich persönlich denke dass es als Industriemetall immer mehr Verwendung findet und künftig die neuen Solargeräte mehr als die doppelte Menge an Silber benötigen als die Aktuellen.
Alleine das sollte den Bedarf schon deutlich steigen lassen..

Im aktuellen Lithium-Marktumfeld ist ein counter offer eher unwahrscheinlich (wenn auch nicht ausgeschlossen, deswegen hab ich den Rest stehen lassen), und außerdem: wer sollte eins abgeben, wer hat über 7 Mrd Dollar cash in die Täsch?
Außerdem bleibt noch ein Restrisiko, Albemarle dreht da jetzt, bevor sie 6,6 Mrd auf den Tisch legen, jeden Stein auf links: It is expected that Albemarle's due diligence will take approximately four weeks. Das Ergebnis könnte zumindest theoretisch auch sein their study of the underground shows cost blow outs galore and they withdraw.
