Keine Ahnung - schlechte Nachrichten gab es jedenfalls nicht.
Freitag liegen sie an der NASDAQ jedenfalls gegen Ende wieder bei + ca. 10% - na, also !!!

Kursverfall mit fast 50% und keine schlechte Nachricht, wer glaubt denn so etwas und will am Montag für jeden Kurs kaufen?

Die folgende Nachricht war der Grund für den starken Verlust der Aktie!
Die Chinesen (Hauptmarkt von Utstarcom) wollen keine Zusammenarbeit mehr mit Utstarcom. Viele Milliarden Dollar gehen dadurch der Firma flöten, ein weiterer Kursverfall in der nächsten Woche ist durchaus denkbar.

UTStarcom sinks 44 pct with China blues

NEW YORK, June 1 (Reuters) - Shares in UTStarcom Inc.
sank 44 percent in very heavy trade Thursday after the
wireless phone gear company said China had delayed deployment
of technology UTStarcom uses.
UTStarcom, which provides voice and data communication
equipment mostly to Chinese carriers, was down 17 at 21-1/4 in
early afternoon.
The stock was the biggest loser in percentage terms on the
Nasdaq market. Trade was more than 40 times normal daily
levels.
Alameda, Calif.-based UTStarcom said China`s Ministry of
Information Industry had ordered a review of deployment of
telecommunications equipment using Personal Handyphone System
(PHS) technology.
The order includes UTStarcom`s wireless Personal Access
System, used for citywide mobile networks.
The review is expected to last about 60 days. During that
period, the ministry has told telephone companies to halt
deployment of the Japan-developed PHS gear.
UTStarcom said it had not gotten formal notification from
the ministry about the order. The company said it did not
expect the review to hurt its results in the second and third
quarters.
"In spite of the action taken by the (ministry), we firmly
believe that the potential prospects for UTStarcom and its
investors are excellent," President and Chief Executive Hong Lu
said.
UTStarcom went public in early March and its shares have
slid from a record closing high of $87 a few weeks later.
UTStarcom and mobile phone technology company Qualcomm Inc.
have both been jostled by concerns about China.
Qualcomm fell more than 13 percent Wednesday amid fears
about the future of its code division multiple access (CDMA)
network in China. Qualcomm was up 3-11/16 to 70-1/16 Thursday.
UTStarcom also said it won a contract worth more than $35
million from First International Telecommunications Corp. of
Taiwan.

Die UTSTAR Aktie ist derzeit high risk, aber vielversprechend. Es stimmt nicht, dass die chinesische Regierung die Zusammenarbeit "aufgekündigt" hat und das Projekt damit tot ist. Derzeit gibt es ein Moratorium von 60 Tagen. Ich bin jedenfalls erst einmal bei $22 eingestiegen und werde noch nachkaufen, falls $18 heute unterschritten werden.

wenn man sich den chart ansieht kann man doch förmlich die lauerstellung nach norden erkennen! nur ein winziges positives signal könnte schon ausreichen um einen erheblichen kurssprung zu verursachen!

ich werde am dienstag oder mittwoch nachkaufen!

Ich glaube die Zeit zum Einstieg ist gekommen. Da ich nach dem starken Kursverfall noch von einem Einstieg abgeraten habe, bin ich der Meinung, dass der Boden nun gefunden ist.
Gestern äußerte sich ein Analyst unter http://www.radiowallstreet.com/NASApp/RWS/EventPage?ID=22707 zu Utstarcom. (einfach auf "Listen" klicken) Das Gespräch ist ca. 20 min lang. Vielleicht versteht einer etwas und kann mal kurz ein paar inhaltliche Dinge des Gespräches posten.

Frederick Tjernstrom an analyst that looks for companies with great growth potential focused on UTSI this morning on the Hidden Assets show on Radio Wall Street.

If you ever had any doubts about owning or buying UTSI they had to be totally dispelled after listening to his analysis.

Here are some highlights of the show:

UTSI`s IPO raised $270,000,000 in cash.

UTSI`s Revenue Growth for last quarter was up 113%.

Debt is insignificant.

Being focused on China, UTSI is a prime takeover candidate for Ericcson or Nortel etc.

Though with all this cash under their belt and a projected $300,000,000 in revenue this year, it`s highly unlikely they`ll want to sell to anyone.

UTSI will be profitable by the 3rd or 4th quarter of THIS YEAR.

UTSI will grow at 100% for at least the next 2 years.

UTSI is currently trading at 6x revenues.

AS REGARDS THE SUSPENSION OF PAS DEPLOYMENT...The PRC is weeding out companies that have jumped on the bandwagon, because of ythe EXPLOSIVE GROWTH IN THE MARKETPLACE...which will only clear the way for UTSI.

UTSI`s cash rich status will be used to EXPAND its presence in Asia, Latin America and Africa.

If there were a takeover bid to acquire UTSI, there is no way that they could be bought for less than $50 per share.

In other words...FT`s analysis was: UTSI is a SCREAMING BUY!!!

GLTA LONGS...we`re obviously NOT going to need it!

My advice to anyone shorting or thinking about shorting this company is...UTSI is not a short candidate, you should be looking for companies with little or no cash and with no growth prospects....BUT that`s your call.
