weiß jemand, wann nortel zahlen rausbringt? Warte schon seit Tagen auf eine kleine Kursdelle zum einsteigen- aber nix!

Bei Ericsson, nokia und pfizer haben auch superzahlen einen kursrutsch ausgelöst.
Naja, vielleicht sollte ich gleich einsteigen- wer weiß wohin die noch geht.

Nortel, others team on Taiwan fiber-optic network

TAIPEI, Taiwan--Nortel Networks, North America`s No. 2 phone-equipment maker, will team with two U.S. firms and Taiwan International Group to build a $646 million (T$20 billion) fiber-optic network, as rising competition spurs demand for more bandwidth.

Nortel and two unidentified U.S. companies will take up to 35 percent of a venture to build the network, said Chang Ping-jau, Taiwan International`s chairman. Unitech Printed Circuit Board, a listed unit of the closely held group, will take 15 percent, with the rest held by other Taiwan companies, he said.

"The fiber-optic network project is the key step in our group`s plan to focus on telecommunications," said Unitech spokesman Chen Cheng-hsiung. "It will become the core of our group."

The partners will provide initial capital of $193.8 million to establish the venture by the end of this year. They plan to raise another $452.2 million to complete the network late next year, Chang said.

Unitech plans to raise at least $96.9 million through a fresh issue of shares before the end of this year to finance the venture and open a research lab in San Diego for mobile phones that allow faster Internet access, said Chen. It also plans to start a pilot production plant for mobile-phone handsets in China next month, he said.

Taiwan ended state-owned Chunghwa Telecom`s monopoly on fixed-line phone services in March, when the government granted three licenses to private operators.

New entrants have created a need for wideband fiber-optic networks, as they are likely to lease network capacity rather than build from scratch.
