Yugster.com Will Feature Medis Fuel Cell Power Emergency Kit

Available Online June 24, 2009 Starting at 6AM EDT

NEW YORK, June 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Medis Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: MDTL) announced that its Fuel Cell Power Emergency Kit will be featured on Yugster.com this week. Yugster, an online retailer that sells 'cool stuff' at attractive pricing, offers a new product at 6AM ET every morning and 'when it's gone, it's gone.' Simply log onto www.yugster.com and follow the simple instructions on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, in order to upgrade your own personal emergency preparedness.

The Fuel Cell Power Emergency Kit is the world's first personal fuel cell power system that delivers emergency lighting and mobile phone power when a user needs it most. The Yugster offering is timed for the hurricane season -- which officially runs from June until the end of October -- but the kit can be used in any power emergency: blackouts, brownouts, cyclones, tornadoes, floods or falling trees that cut power lines.

Based on the Medis Direct Liquid Fuel Cell Technology, the Fuel Cell Power Emergency Kit is a personal fuel cell power system that delivers instant emergency light and power to portable devices without batteries or pre-charging. The ideal 'Plan B,' with a simple shake of the product, the Kit can power a cell phone, mp3 player or flashlight for many hours over several days when grid power is not available due to natural disaster or other instances when batteries have given up or faded out.

'We are happy that Yugster will be making our Emergency Kit available at precisely the time of year when people are going to need emergency power,' said Jose Mejia, Medis CEO. 'The Fuel Cell Power Emergency Kit offers an instant power source in a time of need, keeping your flashlights on and cell phone working. And since it is not a battery, the fuel cell is a convenient power option that creates 'new' electricity when and as it is needed.'

The Fuel Cell Power Emergency Kit is a clean and safe-to-use energy source, supplying multiple charges to an array of devices including mobile phones, smart phones, and other handheld electronic products, in addition to powering the included 14-LED flashlight for many hours. Simply shake the Fuel Cell Power Pack and it will create 20 watt-hours of electricity -- with no measurable heat -- in the palm of your hand. Medis fuel cells have no carbon footprint, no emissions, are easily recyclable, and contain no toxic or hazardous substances.

Mejia added, 'Our Fuel Cell Power Emergency Kit is right on the money with the Department of Homeland Security's Resolve to be Ready 2009 campaign. When it comes to natural disasters, an ounce of preparedness is worth a pound of remedial help.' The Resolve to be Ready 2009 campaign urges people to have 'an emergency supply kit, a family emergency plan, and being informed about the different types of emergencies that could occur and their appropriate responses.' Tests Show Medis Fuel Cell Technology 2X Current Military Standard for Portable Applications

Rigorous Testing Conducted in Broad Range of Temperatures, Environments; Consumer, Light Industry Applications Also Targeted

NEW YORK, June 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Medis Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: MDTL), creator of the world's first consumer portable fuel cell, announced that recently completed tests prove its fuel cell technology is more than twice as powerful as the advanced battery technology currently considered the established technology performance leader by military organizations. As a means of demonstrating its value for important portable military applications such as tactical radios with heavy-duty use profiles, the Medis fuel cell technology was tested in a broad range of temperatures and environments, and more than doubled its end-point tests. The company expects to extend the advantages of this technology to consumer applications such as laptop computers, PDAs and other electronic devices.

Medis Technologies CEO Jose Mejia said the test results propel the Company to target burgeoning military, security and border-patrol applications including tactical radios, remote sensors, mini unmanned airborne vehicles (UAVs or 'drones') and Future Soldier applications. The technology was tested with common military applications including tactical radios with heavy duty use profiles such as single side band (SSB) communication devices. Consumer markets and light industrial applications will also be addressed. And because our technology is not a battery but an electricity generator, it is an always-on, always-available source where batteries may age and deteriorate.

'These tests were ultra-rigorous, and the remarkable results demonstrate our technology beats the advanced batteries that are being used for portable power by the military today,' Mejia said. 'Our technology offers huge performance advantages over currently employed energy storage technologies, and it gives us what we need to sell to the military and Department of Defense and capture new contracts for portable power technology.

'Tactical radio use accounts for 95 percent of sales to the military market,' added Mejia. 'Along with performance improvements, our fuel cell technology represents budget-lowering cost savings for armed services being asked to control expenses. Most important, it is the most energy-dense product in the 3-to-4-day mission profile while also being very lightweight, which are critical standards in the military market.'

Medis demonstrated total system performance of more than the critical threshold target of 400 wh/kg--more than double lithium-ion technology used by the military today.

The system was tested in a broad range of temperatures and environments germane to military applications, including testing at -20C and +50C. At -20C the technology had 90 percent of the performance of ambient conditions which is a significant achievement for portable power technologies. At +50C the performance was the same as ambient. Also tested were environments of up to 95 percent humidity and altitudes up to 15,000 feet without degradation of performance.
