_-INTERACTIVE-OBJECTS)(OBJX) Cirrus Logic Selects iObjects` Dharma Digital Audio Platform for Maverick Based Systems

      Business/High-Tech Editors
      CES 2001 (booth no. 6247)

      LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 2001--

Companies Align to Offer Integrated Hardware and Software Platform for Digital Audio Appliance Development

Interactive Objects, Inc., (OTCBB:OBJX), announced today at CES 2001 that Cirrus Logic has selected iObjects` Dharma(TM) digital audio platform for its new generation of Internet Maverick(TM) microprocessor-based hardware reference designs for digital audio appliances.
Maverick is the leading system on a chip (SOC) microprocessor specifically designed for digital audio devices. Dharma is an all-new hardware platform for digital audio that enables the development of a broad range of products based on a common, interoperable design. Together these products will enable a new generation of audio products including portable digital audio players, Internet radios, digital audio receivers, digital home jukebox systems and digital car stereos.
Dharma`s unique design offers a completely integrated software and hardware solution that comes pre-configured for the most popular digital audio applications. "Dharma is an ideal solution for OEMs that want to better integrate and streamline their development efforts across multiple products." said Scott McDonald, VP of Marketing at Cirrus Logic. "In combination with Maverick processors, Dharma provides a single development platform that allows OEMs to deliver a family of products that are interoperable, feature-rich, and easy to design."
iObjects` new Dharma platform will be displayed at the Cirrus Logic Booth (no. 6247) in the LVCC. In addition, working models will also be on display in the Microsoft Booth (no. 626) the Iomega Suite (N107), and the DataPlay Kiosk (no. 1357) in the LVCC.

      Designed with Maverick

Dharma`s design takes full advantage of the power and programmability of Cirrus Logic`s Maverick Internet audio SOCs. Cirrus` new Dharma-based reference design will support the entire range of Maverick processors including the 7312, the recently announced 9312 and future Maverick processors. An Internet audio leader, the Maverick line targets new Internet audio markets where decoding audio and protecting digital content are essential. Cirrus Logic`s patent-pending MaverickKey(TM) and MaverickLock(TM) technology provide manufacturers with a variety of security choices, including the highest "military level" security. Maverick on-chip security utilizes specific hardware IDs, such as those assigned for Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI) or any other authentication mechanism.

      Integrated with Dadio

Cirrus` Dharma platform implementation is tightly integrated with iObjects` innovative Dadio(TM) digital audio operating system (OS). In conjunction with Dadio, Dharma will support the most popular audio codecs including mp3, Microsoft WMA, Dolby AAC, Audible, and Ogg Vorbis, and will manage large play lists of up to 6,000 hours or 100,000 songs. Dharma also works with Dadio`s integrated digital rights management (DRM) capabilities, supporting both Microsoft`s Windows Media(TM) and InterTrust`s Rights/PD(TM) DRM software for embedded systems.

A Line of Digital Audio Appliances

Dharma is a multi-purpose development platform that enables the creation of a family of compatible products. Dharma standardizes the key hardware and software interfaces of a digital audio reference design so that core modules can be swapped in and out interchangeably. Dharma can therefore support a family of microprocessors and integrate virtually any storage solution including flash memory, spinning media and CD/optical disks. Dharma enables designs using either battery or line power, and can support a wide range of wired and wireless communications technologies including Ethernet, TCP/IP, 802.11, FM transceiver, 1394 FireWire, and Bluetooth. Dharma can also send output to just about any user interface including LCD, PC or TV.
"Dharma provides off-the-shelf hardware compatibility, a menu of embedded audio applications to choose among, and enables rapid entry into a growing market," said Dennis Tevlin, President and CEO of iObjects.
With Dharma, digital audio players will become intelligently aware of one another, allowing the automatic transfer of music or spoken word content across devices in the home, in the car, or on the go. Dharma devices will stream content to one another through wired or wireless communications protocols. Dharma devices will also share the same media for easy file transfer and content portability.
Pre Configured for the Most Popular Applications P. Dharma will support a variety of configurations including portable, Internet radio, digital audio receiver, home jukebox and digital car stereo. Dharma will include Dadio software SDKs for each configuration that are pre-tested and integrated into each hardware design. These SDKs greatly enhance an OEMs ability to evaluate, design and manufacture a final product. Because the SDKs are built on a common code base and modular hardware architecture, they offer OEMs the flexibility to mix and match functionality in each product category. Dadio SDKs speed OEM market entry and provide a solid base for future development.

Von Kathy gibt es eine schöne Zusammenfassung aller bisherigen News:
      http://www.investortoinvestor.com/dcforum/cgi-bin/dcboard.cg…

      Press Release

97% of Americans Say High Security is Vital in Portable Internet Products -- Only Cirrus Logic`s Maverick Chip Provides It

Survey Also Reveals Buying Preferences and Trends in Portable Internet Audio Devices

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 2001-- Consumer Electronics Show: Consumers are increasingly aware of
personal security risks in portable and wireless Internet products, according to a recent online survey of 1,001 America Online users and American Advantage members.

In fact, 97 percent of the consumers surveyed said it was important for Internet products to have a high level of security to protect their personal information like credit cards numbers from hackers. Cirrus Logic Inc.`s (Nasdaq:CRUS - news)
Maverick chip is the only general-purpose processor that provides the highest level on-chip security for personal privacy and corporate content.

Industry analysts are echoing consumer`s concern. ``Security is the most important issue facing the Internet appliance industry,`` said Jay Srivatsa, semiconductor analyst at Gartner Group Inc.`s Dataquest. ``Companies providing solutions with on-chip security features at an affordable price are best positioned to benefit from the explosive growth forecasted over the next five
      years.``

While Napster has raised awareness of the security needs of content providers like record labels to protect their copyrights, U.S. consumers have become increasingly savvy of the security risks they face as they use their Internet audio players, Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and other consumer Internet products. Personal information like credit card numbers, personal
passwords, stock trades, etc. are stored inside Internet devices and thus subject to hacking.

``Maverick chips are the only general purpose processor currently on the market that can protect consumer`s sensitive information,`` said Matthew Perry, vice president and general manager of Cirrus Logic`s Embedded Processors Division.

``In fact, Maverick security offers consumers and corporations many levels of protection, ranging from patent-pending `military-grade` MaverickLock(tm) technology and patent-pending MaverickKey(tm) protection to software security solutions. All Maverick weapons are aimed at winning the war against hackers.``
      Buying Trends and Demographics

Despite the common perception that MP3 and Internet audio players are the domain of college students, the survey revealed that the 25-34 year-old age group are just about as likely to purchase an Internet audio player as their college-age counterparts. In fact, 28 percent of 25-34 year-olds say they plan to purchase an Internet audio player in the next 12 months compared to 34 percent of the 18-24 year-olds, while only 19 percent of 35-49 year-olds plan to an Internet audio player in the next year.

The No. 1 choice of consumers, who plan to purchase an Internet audio player in the next six months, was the Rio. Maverick chips power the Rio 600, the Rio 800 and Rio`s Nike Internet audio players, as well as the Rio receiver.

``Although Maverick processors have been on the market a mere nine months, they power two of the top three portable digital music players, SONICBlue`s Rio 600 and Creative Labs` Nomad II family,`` said Mike Paxton, senior analyst for Cahners In-Stat Group. ``Creative and SONICBlue account for 60 percent of all worldwide shipments.``

``When the Maverick processor`s marketshare is combined with this year`s projection of 399 percent growth rate in portable digital music players, it makes the Maverick presence compelling indeed,`` added Paxton.

With the majority of Internet audio players priced between $150 and $300, the financial trends of the survey are just as surprising. 81 percent of households making less than $50,000 and 65 percent of households making $50,000 - $90,000 a year, say they will be purchasing an Internet audio player in the next twelve months. By contrast, only 41 percent of households making $100,000 or more plan to buy an Internet audio player.

According to Cahners In-Stat`s Paxton sales of portable digital music players are projected to hit $998 million in 2001 and $1.25 billion by 2002. According to the analysts` July 2000 report at Jupiter Communications, sales of digitally downloaded music, starting at $9 million in 2000, are projected to be worth $1.5 billion by 2005. Digital music can be sold, rented or previewed leveraging Maverick chip security, depending on the desire and business model of the content providers. When asked their preference in acquiring digital music, 53 percent of consumers said they would prefer to buy by the song, 25 percent would choose to buy by the album, 17 percent want to rent by the song, 6 percent desire to rent by the record label`s collection and 3 percent favor renting by the album.

      Format and Recording Trends

Furthermore, consumers prize choice and flexibility in Internet audio. 65 percent of consumers do not want Internet audio players to be limited to the MP3 format. They prefer their Internet audio players to run more than one kind of audio file, such as WMA.

Finally, in an interesting security twist, within the population surveyed who currently own Internet audio players, over one-third say they do rip CDs to MP3 or WMA, while more than half say that they do not rip CDs to MP3 or WMA.

The believed-to-be statistically and demographically sound survey was commissioned by Cirrus Logic and was conducted by the DMS division of AOL.

MaverickLock Technology -- The Height of Security

Cirrus Logic`s MaverickLock(tm) technology provides the highest level of security available. Incorporating Cirrus Logic patent-pending circuitry, MaverickLock provides hardware security typically found only in special-purpose government or military products. MaverickLock technology can be used to protect all types of content and is MetaTrust-Certified(tm).
MaverickLock technology provides complete hardware and software protection against unauthorized invasion by ``locking`` the chip from the inside out with the ``keys`` inside. A hidden, unique, private key number linked to a private key ensures that MaverickLock chips boot a secure environment. Debug and other interfaces are automatically disabled when a MaverickLock
device is securely booting or operating in secure mode. This capability blocks hackers from accessing the internal portions of the chip where the private ID number and other secure information is stored. If the device detects a non-secure mode, then the security information is permanently hidden. Cirrus Logic has introduced in MaverickLock technology in two products: the
Maverick EP7339 SOC for Internet music players; and the Maverick(tm) EP9312 for home audio jukeboxes and servers.

      Maverick

Maverick processors, a leader in portable Internet audio, strengthens its market position as product designers of second-generation Internet audio players increasingly leverage key Maverick processor features, including a choice of:

MP3, WMA and AAC compression/decompression standards Operating systems including: Linux, WinCE, eCOS, EPOC, Palm OS and VxWorks Alternative data storage methods including FLASH, hard drives or CD ROMs, such as iOmega`s PocketZip(tm) media Maverick chips also provide security and digital rights management with Microsoft`s WMT and InterTrust`s Rights PD(tm)
firmware and are designed into a variety of Internet entertainment devices including the leading portable Internet audio players, network-based home players, digital car audio players, eBooks, Web-based entertainment and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). After only six months of production, Cirrus Logic shipped its millionth Maverick processor in August 2000. More

      Hi,
      Blockbuster,

      1,2 Mio HipZip + 300.000 I-Jam x $ 6 = $ 9 Mio
      Erlöse aus Dharma™: $ 3 Mio
      Summe 12 Mio abzüglich $ 2,3 Mio macht $ 9,7 Mio Gewinn

Philips and Digital Harmony Join Forces to Create HAVi Audio Solutions for OEMs
Partnership will accelerate IEEE-1394 HAVi product introductions

Las Vegas, Nevada, January 8, 2001, CES (Consumer Electronics Show) - In a strategic
partnership that will accelerate the deployment of interoperable HAVi products based on
the IEEE-1394 standard, Philips and Digital Harmony will jointly develop and promote
modular solutions for consumer electronics manufacturers. The DHIVA™ (Digital
Harmony Interface for Video and Audio) OEM home networking adapter-coupled with
Philips` HAVi controller software-will provide significant time-to-market advantage for
companies working with HAVi, the consumer electronics interoperability standard. In
addition, Digital Harmony and Philips will work together to develop and market
HAVi-compliant software, demonstration systems, reference designs, and development
      tools.

Under terms of the partnership agreement, Digital Harmony will be allowed to use and
sublicense Philips` HAVi core and FAV software stack for use in the Digital Harmony
Composer™ family of system controller platforms and tools, under license to Philips
Digital Networks. In return, Philips will have access to various IEEE-1394 hardware and
firmware technologies, under license to Digital Harmony. In addition, Digital Harmony will
design a HAVi-enabled version of its industry-first DHIVA embedded 1394 home
networking adapter. The HAVi-enabled OEM module will be used in home entertainment
devices such as audio/video receivers, amplifiers, digital televisions, set-top boxes,
      loudspeakers, DVD players, etc.

A HAVi proof-of-concept audio demonstration will be displayed in Digital Harmony`s
suite at CES (Las Vegas Hilton, East Tower) this week. The demonstration includes
Digital Harmony control software utilizing Philips` HAVi core FAV ("full audio/video
device") firmware. The controller manipulates a DHIVA-powered 200-disk CD changer
and audio/video receiver system provided by Denon, one of Digital Harmony`s leading
      consumer electronics partners.

Digital Harmony-the first company to ever demonstrate audio on the IEEE-1394 bus-has
been developing 1394 technologies since 1995. "Digital Harmony is currently working
with many leading audio companies standardizing on the modular DHIVA architecture.
An important objective of our OEM adapter roadmap is to increase functionality through
the addition of HAVi support, a key part of the interoperability equation," says Greg
Bartlett, president and co-founder of Digital Harmony.

Philips Consumer Electronics-one of the founders of the HAVi consortium-brings years of
interconnectivity and interoperability experience, software expertise, and a product
development legacy that will help guide the development of the Philips/Digital Harmony
OEM solutions. "At Philips Digital Networks, we are continuously striving to improve our
strong position in networking software by developing first-to-market, superior software
solutions - in several cases through partnerships with key technology players in this
market," said Jos Bruins, General Manager of the Philips Digital Network`s HAVi Home
Networking Team. "Digital Harmony is an ideal partner because of her proven record of
professionalism, innovativeness and business relations with many significant players in
      the high-end AV arena."

"This cooperation between Digital Harmony - with its excellent 1394 products - and
Philips will increase the industry momentum for HAVi. The proposed interoperability
solutions significantly speed up the deployment of Interoperable Audio/Video products"
said Eddy Odijk, vice president of Philips Consumer Electronics of Philips and chairman
      of the HAVi Organization.
