SEARCH ENGINE MAKES PROFIT
Oct 28, 2001 (WENN via COMTEX) -- Advertising-driven search engine Overture

year ago (00). Overture`s revenue nearly tripled to $72.5 million (GBP55.7

expected Overture to become profitable in the quarter, but not by such a wide

Searchfrog Develops Explosive Tool For Internet Marketers
SEATTLE, WA, Oct 31, 2001 (INTERNET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Searchfrog.net
(www.searchfrog.net), an internet marketing ASP, announced the release of a
revolutionary tool directed exclusively for internet marketers to manage and
monitor their Pay Per Click (PPC) marketing efforts on sites such as GoTo.com
(now Overture) (NASDAQ: OVER), Findwhat.com (NASDAQ: FWHT) and Sprinks.
"Searchfrog is intended to change the way internet marketers manage their PPC
buys by providing them a more efficient and cost-effective means to view all of
their term or phrase bids in one easy to use spreadsheet," says Brandon
Hartness, President and Director of Marketing. "The website offers an easy to
use interface that allows you to track multiple Search Engines and hundreds of
search terms or phrases."
Searchfrog.net has developed proprietary spidering technology that allows users
to view their positions on Overture, FindWhat.com, and Sprinks and will soon be
expanding their partner list to include many other PPC engines as well. The site
includes an interface that shows you how much you are overbidding per term,
monthly traffic for that term and even lets you email the report to others.
Until now, there has been no tool available to monitor your PPC campaign on PPC
engines. A PPC client has been forced to open the standard PPC search engine and
actually type in each key word one at a time to determine optimal positioning.
Brandon Hartness and Todd Olsen, both with backgrounds in Internet marketing,
developed the tool out of necessity in their own marketing efforts. "It was very
cumbersome to know at any given time the overall status of our PPC campaign
using the tools that were available," says Hartness. "I really did not realize
the value until I was without it for 2 days due to early technical bugs. It was
then that I knew others would also find this an invaluable tool."

Yahoo! Forms Alliance with Overture - Formerly GoTo - to Launch Sponsor Matches Program For Search ResultsYahoo! to Integrate Overture as Its Pay-for-Performance Search Provider Until at Least April 2002
SUNNYVALE & PASADENA, Calif., Nov 13, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Yahoo! Inc.
(Nasdaq: YHOO), a global Internet communications, commerce and media company,
today announced the launch of Yahoo! Sponsor Matches, an enhanced placement
program to give Web sites increased visibility in Yahoo!`s search results.
Yahoo! will introduce the program through an alliance with Overture Services
Inc. (Nasdaq: OVER), formerly GoTo, the leading provider of Pay-For-Performance
search to Web sites across the Internet. Overture will distribute its search
listings product on Yahoo! search results pages until at least April 2002, at
which time Yahoo! will either offer its own Sponsor Matches program
independently or explore extending its agreement with Overture.
The launch of Sponsor Matches builds on one of Yahoo!`s core strengths as a
leading search and directory service. Businesses will be able to reach their
targeted consumers more effectively through enhanced placement in search results
on keywords that are relevant to their business. Under the agreement, Yahoo!`s
search results pages will feature Overture`s top five Pay-For-Performance search
listings submitted by its growing base of 49,000 advertisers. In order to
differentiate between paid and editorial placements within Yahoo!`s search
results, enhanced placement listings will be distinguished in clearly demarcated
sections. The program will begin on November 15, 2001.
"Yahoo! Sponsor Matches is consistent with our strategy to leverage our core
strengths in order to build growing and diverse revenues," said Terry Semel,
chairman and chief executive officer, Yahoo! Inc. "Millions of Internet searches
conducted on Yahoo! each day are commercial in nature, giving businesses
tremendous opportunity to market their products and services through enhanced
placement in our search results.
"Our alliance with Overture gives Yahoo! an immediate opportunity to create the
Sponsor Matches program. Businesses will benefit from the traction and
visibility of Yahoo!`s search and the high quality results and proven cost
effective model of Overture," said Semel.
"The category we`ve built has come a long way in the past few years. We are
excited that Yahoo! has chosen to add Pay-For-Performance listings to its
world-class search offering," said Ted Meisel, president and chief executive
officer, Overture. "We are pleased to enter this mutually beneficial alliance
and look forward to the possibility of extending our agreement with Yahoo!."
The introduction of an enhanced placement search program complements Yahoo!`s
existing successful directory services, Sponsored Sites and Yahoo! Express.
Sponsored Sites is a fee-based service that enables commercial Web sites already
listed in the Yahoo! directory to receive enhanced placement in specific
commercial categories of the directory. Through Yahoo! Express businesses can
pay to expedite the review of their submission for inclusion in the Yahoo!
directory.
The primary benefit of Yahoo!`s search and directory is that its human-built
directory places a user`s search in context. Yahoo! experts appropriately
categorize Web sites into an intuitive organizational structure, effectively
connecting consumers with the demographic, geographical or subject-based
content, services and businesses they need.

About Overture (formerly GoTo)
Overture, (Nasdaq: OVER), formerly known as GoTo, is the leader in
Pay-For-Performance search on the Internet. The company created the market for
Pay-For-Performance search by redefining how businesses market online. In the
third quarter of 2001, Overture facilitated more than 338 million paid
introductions on a worldwide basis between consumers and its approximately
49,000 advertisers, who bid for placement on relevant search results and pay
Overture only when a consumer clicks on their listing. Following a rigorous
screening for user relevance by Overture`s team of more than 80 editors, the
company distributes its search results to tens of thousands of sites across the
Internet, including America Online, Microsoft and AltaVista -- making it the
largest Pay-For-Performance search and advertising network on the Internet.

Francisco and London. For more information, visit http://www.overture.com/.

limitation statements regarding the date of the launch of Overture`s search
results on Yahoo!, that Yahoo!`s users will use Overture search results, that
advertisers and businesses will want to participate in Sponsored Matches by
seeking enhanced placement in the search results, that businesses will be able
to reach customers more effectively through enhanced placement in search results
and that the parties will explore the creation of a longer term relationship.
These forward-looking statements are subject to risks and uncertainties that
could cause actual results and events to differ materially. These risks and
uncertainties include, among others, that the launch of Overture`s Pay for
Performance search product on Yahoo! may be delayed or may not happen, that the
implementation may not be successful or generate revenue for Overture or yield
economic benefits to Overture, the risk that Overture`s advertisers and
businesses may not want traffic from Yahoo! and the risk that Yahoo!`s users may
not want to use the Sponsored Matches product. For a discussion of other risks
that could cause actual results or events to differ materially from such
forward-looking statements, see the discussion of "Risks That Could Affect Our
Financial Condition and Results of Operations" in Overture`s 10-Q filing with

The agreement will significantly expand Overture`s European presence and marks its entrance into the German marketplace well in advance of its official first quarter 2002 launch in Germany.
Under the agreement, Overture will serve a complete set of its paid German-language search listings for all searches conducted on the T-Online portal site (http://www.t-online.de), which has more than 50 percent reach in the German Internet market (JupiterMMXI, October 2001).

``We are thrilled to announce this agreement with T-Online and to have the opportunity to offer Overture search results to the millions of German-speaking T-Online users,`` said Johannes Larcher, general manager, Overture International.
``This deal represents an extremely important expansion of our Pay-For-Performance network internationally. Just as important, our advertisers in our new German marketplace will benefit from the quality and volume of the traffic that T-Online`s users will generate.``
T-Online has more than 10 million paying customers in five countries. This partnership will provide T-Online`s millions of users in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with access to Overture`s relevant Pay-For-Performance search results.
Overture`s unique Pay-For-Performance model provides quality search offerings to affiliate partners such as T-Online, a high return on investment for its approximately 49,000 advertisers worldwide, and an enhanced search experience for the users of its partners.
In November, Overture opened its German headquarters in Munich and appointed Manfred Klaus as German managing director. Klaus will have responsibility for building Overture`s German marketplace in Europe`s German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria and German-Switzerland), building the company`s German-language advertiser base and cultivating distribution partnerships.
Klaus joined Overture from FOCUS Digital AG, one of Germany`s leading Internet media companies, where he led Marketing and Sales as a member of the company`s Executive Board.

Under the agreement, Overture will serve a complete set of its paid German-language search listings for all searches conducted on the T-Online portal site (http://www.t-online.de), which has more than 50 percent reach in the German Internet market (JupiterMMXI, October 2001).
Overture`s German-language search results will be provided by businesses whose offerings are relevant to searchers in the German, Austrian and German-Swiss markets. The implementation will commence in conjunction with Overture`s launch in the German marketplace.
