Vestas RRB To Invest Rs 55 Cr In Wind Power Generation

New Delhi, Aug 27: Vestas RRB India Ltd, a joint venture (JV) between world’s leading wind power generator Vestas Group of Denmark and RRB of India, plans to invest over Rs 50-55 crore over the next two years for setting up wind electric generators and manufacturing facility for wind generating blades.
Vestas Group is a 1.4 billion euro (over Rs 7,800 crore) company and worldwide it has set up more than 7,000 MW Vestas type wind electric generators spread across 40 countries.
“Vestas RRB is expected to set up a capacity of around 60 MW this year, which will yield us a revenue of Rs 300 crore, up from Rs 110 crore achie-ved last year, Rakesh Bakshi, managing director, Vestas RRB India, told FE.
“Over the next 10 years, around one lakh MW of power generating capacity is expected to be added to the Indian grids and almost 6-7 per cent (6,000-7,000 MW) of this is expected to come from wind energy. we are aiming to be a major player in that segment and hope to increase out market share from the current level of 13 per cent,” Mr Bakshi added.
Apart from Vestas RRB, other major players in the sector in India include NEG Micon, Suzlon, Enercon India, NEPC and GE. In
India more than 950 Vestas type wind electric generators aggregating around 250 MW are operating successfully in the States of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka.
