Foundry Networks(TM) Reports Second Quarter Financial Results

Company Achieves 14% Sequential Revenue Growth
SAN JOSE, Calif., July 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Foundry Networks(TM), Inc. (Nasdaq: FDRY), today reported financial results for its second quarter ended June 30, 2005.

Revenue for the second quarter of 2005 was $96.6 million, compared to $84.6 million for the first quarter of 2005, and $97.8 million for the second quarter of 2004. Foundry earned net income of $9.6 million, or $0.07 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2005, compared to net income of $9.9 million, or $0.07 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2005, and net income of $15.0 million, or $0.11 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2004.

Revenue for the first six months of 2005 was $181.2 million, compared to $201.8 million for the first six months of 2004. Net income for the first six months of 2005 was $19.5 million, or $0.14 per diluted share, compared to net income of $34.9 million, or $0.24 per diluted share, for the same period in 2004.

In the second quarter, the Company`s enterprise business delivered strong performance and improved significantly from the prior quarter in both the U.S. and Europe. Revenue from the U.S. Federal Government remained flat in absolute dollars, but declined as a percentage of total revenue to 15% in the second quarter.

"We are pleased with the sharp rebound achieved in our enterprise business during the second quarter of 2005," said Bobby Johnson, President and CEO of Foundry Networks. "Our products and technology continue to receive validation in the marketplace. The BigIron(R) RX platform, which we announced in the second quarter, won "Best of Show" in the LAN Infrastructure category at both the N+I tradeshow in Las Vegas and Tokyo. In addition, the RX platform also won "Best of Interop Grand Prize" at the Las Vegas tradeshow. The initial response to these new products, as well as our new MPLS routers and Layer 4-7 products, has been very positive.

"Indicative of our success in the second quarter was strong growth in overall port shipments. In the second quarter of 2005, we shipped record levels of 10-Gig Ethernet, Layer 4-7, and Power-over-Ethernet ports. Moreover, on a sequential basis, our port shipments of 10-Gig Ethernet grew 54%, Gig Ethernet-over-Copper grew 72%, and Power-over-Ethernet grew over 220%, all achieving record highs.

      Outlook

"Although we are pleased with the improvement in many segments of our business, we continue to experience limited visibility in the U.S. Federal Government vertical market, historically an important segment of our business. Given our strong second quarter performance and based on the level of business activity thus far in the current period, we are increasingly optimistic about the second half of 2005. We believe our investments in the R&D and sales organizations have strengthened Foundry`s competitive position and should enable us to capitalize on the market opportunities ahead," concluded Johnson.

      Conference Call

Foundry Networks Voice Over IP Solutions Pass Rigorous Siemens` HiPath Ready Net Certification Tests

FastIron Switches Receive Siemens` HiPath Ready Net Certification After Successful Performance and Interoperability Testing With Siemens HiPath Voice

      Over IP Products
SAN JOSE, Calif., July 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Foundry Networks(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: FDRY) a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, today announced that Siemens has certified Foundry`s FastIron Super-X Series, FastIron Edge X-Series, and FastIron 800 switches and routers as being compliant and interoperable with Siemens HiPath Voice over IP (VoIP) products. Foundry Networks, a global Siemens HiPath partner, received Siemens` HiPath Ready NET certification after undergoing a set of demanding tests for security, quality of service (QoS), performance, and interoperability under multiple VoIP networking scenarios in the Siemens HiPath labs.

The Siemens HiPath Ready Net test environment validates both layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing functionality, performance, and interoperability in a VoIP networking environment. Tests include Ethernet and IP traffic classification & queuing, voice VLAN support, performance under traffic congestion, voice quality support, and power over Ethernet (PoE) support for HiPath IP phones. Test results were converted into a PSQM score (Perceptual Speech Quality Measure) to provide a measure of subjective voice quality. Foundry scored at the maximum theoretical value for both G.711 and G.729 codecs in all of the test cases. The full range of Siemens HiPath IP phone functions were also validated for each of the certified platforms.

"We are extremely pleased to have been certified by Siemens as HiPath Ready," said Bob Schiff, vice president of product marketing at Foundry Networks. "Foundry is committed to building open and standards-based networking solutions that can interoperate with and enable a wide range of applications. In particular, we have designed our Ethernet switches to facilitate the roll-out of voice over IP in the enterprise, with high-density Power over Ethernet solutions that deliver the resilience, quality of service and security required for a high-performance and reliable converged VoIP solution. The HiPath Ready Net Certification gives our customers the confidence that an integrated Foundry and Siemens network provides an interoperable and fully-tested solution for their converged data and voice over IP infrastructure."

Certification was completed using Foundry`s stackable FastIron Edge X-Series of products; the modular chassis based FastIron Super-X family of products; as well as the FastIron 800 modular chassis switch product. These products support Layer 2 (Ethernet switching) and Layer 3 (IP routing) functionality, and have a broad range of integrated security, performance, convergence and manageability features.

Foundry Selected as Preferred Network Vendor for Major Infrastructure Upgrade by Top U.S. University

University of Georgia Chooses Foundry to Provide Industry-Leading,
High-Performance Network Equipment for Campus Wide Networking Initiatives
      Through 2008

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Foundry Networks(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: FDRY) a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, today announced that the University of Georgia (UGA), one of the top ranked academic institutions in the U.S., selected Foundry Networks for a campus wide upgrade and as their preferred networking partner. UGA will deploy Foundry`s industry leading, high-performance and scalable Layer 2/3 core and edge switches for a campus wide network upgrade that will provide connectivity to the school`s 45 thousand students, faculty, and staff.

As a leading university, UGA is upgrading its networking infrastructure to keep pace with the complex demands and requirements of research and teaching applications and to deploy a reliable, scalable, secure, and high-bandwidth technology with assured performance levels. For its new network, the University of Georgia selected Foundry`s BigIron MG8 switches for the network backbone and FastIron SuperX switches for the network edge. The network will support 10 Gigabit Ethernet to provide connectivity to various research networks, including the Southern Light Rail initiative.

"The core network infrastructure is a key component in supporting the strategic goals and objectives of The University of Georgia," said Mike Dennis, Director of Operations and Infrastructure for Enterprise Information Technology Services at UGA. "The decision to partner with Foundry for our next generation network provides value and a competitive edge for the University and was based on a thorough selection process."

Following a competitive selection process, UGA chose Foundry`s technology based on price/performance, port density and its rich feature set. As an existing Foundry customer, UGA wanted to leverage Foundry`s latest product offerings with their existing gigabit Ethernet network.

"Foundry is pleased to have been selected as UGA`s preferred network equipment provider responsible for their network upgrade initiative," said Bob Schiff, vice president of product marketing for Foundry. "We value our ongoing partnership and this opportunity to work with UGA to ready their network to handle the new services and anticipated traffic growth over the next several years."
