Im Klartext: nortel networks jetzt günstig kaufen, liegen lassen und sich irgendwann an wieder steigenden Kursen freuen.
Zu riskant oder die Chance?

nicht so ungeduldig.

Ich gehör eher zu den Optimisten, die sich nicht vorstellen können, dass dieser Laden über die Wupper geht. Ebenso wenig, dass dies ohnehin zugelassen wird (z.B. von Kanada).

Es gibt da aber auch ganz andere Stimmen, die nix gutes verheissen. Bin selbst drin und hoffe mal...

Nortel, Nokia to build new mmO2 networks


LONDON, April 16 (Reuters) - Britain-based mmO2 Plc (OOM.L), Europe`s fifth-largest mobile phone operator, said on Tuesday it had chosen Nortel Networks (NYSE:NT - news) and Nokia (NOK1V.HE) to be the main suppliers for its next-generation networks.

MmO2 also said it planned to outsource all its Dutch network operations to Ericsson (ERICb.ST), and that the total of all the equipment spending would be 2.2 billion euros ($1.9 billion).

The mobile phone operator, demerged from former monopoly BT Group (BT.L) last November, placed its equipment contracts under review late last year in an effort to leverage its newly unified management across Britain, Ireland, Germany and the Netherlands.

Nortel will supply a GPRS network, seen as the stepping stone to even faster third-generation (3G) networks, across all the territories. The Canadian group will also supply 3G core network infrastructure in Britain, Germany and Ireland and a minimum of 30 per cent of the 3G base stations.

Finland`s Nokia will provide a minimum of 30 per cent of the 3G radio equipment. Nokia will also retain all its existing radio equipment business, which is about 70 per cent of the total, with the chance to increase it.

In line with most other operators, mmO2 does not expect 3G handsets to start selling in volume until the middle of 2003 -- a delay of about half a year from earlier expectations.

MmO2 also said it had signed a letter of intent to hand control of all its Dutch operations to the Ericsson. Most of mmO2`s 240 Dutch employees would transfer to the Swedish telecoms equipment maker once the deal was signed in July.
