Sieht im Nachhinein so aus, als wäre man besser bei 0,38 raus und jetzt wieder neu rein. Wäre das die empfehlenswerte Taktik für die nächsten Tage?

Former NY mayor Giuliani becomes involved with rebuilding of WorldCom

Former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani, lionized for his leadership after the September 11 attacks, now wants to help save scandal-tainted telecoms group WorldCom as it fights to emerge from bankruptcy.

Giuliani, 58, has so far not commented on reports naming him as a potential WorldCom chairman, but his own firm, Giuliani Partners, has confirmed his involvement in helping rescue the world`s second-biggest long-distance telephone company.

"This is an opportunity to make a positive contribution to WorldCom, its employees and customers," Giuliani Partners said in a statement.

"In particular, we would work to establish a model form of corporate governance that the company could use when it emerges from bankruptcy."

The former mayor set up Giuliani Partners in January after leaving office. The company is a private risk-assessment and management consultancy, whose clients include investment bank Merrill Lynch.

According to reports, Giuliani has joined hands with bond investor David Matlin to raise one billion dollars to buy up the distressed bonds of WorldCom, which has been operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy since July.

WorldCom`s application for bankruptcy protection was the biggest such case in US corporate history. The group is working under court supervision to survive as a restructured company.

Michael Capellas, who was officially named WorldCom`s president, chairman and chief executive last week, has indicated that Giuliani would be a welcome addition to the company`s board, possibly as its chairman.

"We are going to see if there is a role for Giuliani. We are moving forward and assembling a world-class board," Capellas told the Wall Street Journal.

Such a move would mark a first major foray into big business for Giuliani, who has made it clear that he is interested in a return to political office.

Giuliani emerged from the devastation of September 11 as "America`s mayor," praised both at home and abroad - he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II - for guiding New York through the immediate aftermath of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

After leaving office in January, Giuliani signed two hefty book deals - for a combined four million dollars. The first, entitled "Leadership." is already in bookstores, while the second, a memoir, is in the works.

Named "Person of the Year" by Time magazine, Giuliani is at the top of the professional lecture circuit, ready to dispense reflections and commentary to business meetings and other conferences for a fee.

His rates are among the country`s highest: almost 100,000 dollars a speech.

From its posh Times Square offices, Giuliani Partners offers blue-chip clients such as Merrill Lynch and telecom giant Nextel costly advice on issues from security and finance to crisis management.

Among the company`s vice presidents are former New York police chief Bernard Kerik, former fire chief Thomas Von Essen and the head of the city`s emergency services, Richard Scheirer, who coordinated rescue efforts at the World Trade Center.

In October, Giuliani was hired - for four million dollars plus expenses - by the government of Mexico City to tackle rising crime in the sprawling Mexican capital.

Giuliani, a former federal prosecutor, cut the crime rate in New York City by 57 percent during his time in office
