Microsoft wird kontinuierlich weiter steigen. Wirst es sehen. Die haben das moderne Internet erfunden und noch einige Pfeile im Köcher. Bill Gates for President?

Guten Morgen

Nur der Cloude Hype treibt MS noch. Die Rettung der Bedienoberfläche und Marke ´Windows´ ist am Smartphone Markt gescheitert. Das beste WIN war zu seiner Zeit 3.11 und das war schon eine grottenschlechte Oberfläche.

Unseres Erachtens wurde der größte Weltwirtschaftliche Schaden der letzten 30 Jahre durch die Monopolstellung von instabiler MS Software verursacht. Müsste MS für diesen Kollateralschaden aufkommen, wäre das Unternehmen in 1 Millisekunde bankrott.

Die industrielle Cloudblase wird durch Schadsoftware zerschossen werden. Wirtschaftskrieg.

Microsoft ist derzeit auf dem Weg in einen, dann rasanten Untergang.

Da hast Du wohl Recht, die Quartalszahlen von Microsoft waren auch wieder wirklich gut !

Aktuell sorgt vor allem die Cloud für Wachstum !

Ich würde es schon schade finden, wenn Microsoft keine Lumia Smartphones mehr herstellen würde.
Aber anscheinend wird damit bisher leider kein (oder zu wenig) Geld verdient...

Vielleicht kommen dann ja wirklich bald Surface Phones heraus ?

Vor nicht einmal einem Jahr hat Microsoft mit dem Lumia 950 und dem Lumia 950 XL seine ersten Smartphones mit Windows 10 Mobile präsentiert. Nach einem holprigen Verkaufsstart dürften die Premium-Smartphones trotz gar nicht so schlechter Testergebnisse (Lumia 950 XL im Test) als Flop gelten. Jetzt scheint das Aus für die Microsoft-Handys endgültig besiegelt zu sein. Medienberichten zufolge soll der Konzern aus Redmond die Produktion schon eingestellt haben.

Anfang Juli war noch über ein baldiges Produktionsaus spekuliert worden, nicht zuletzt, weil die Preise für die Premium-Smartphones nach wenigen Monaten fast halbiert wurden. Microsoft hat das Produktionsende noch nicht offiziell bestätigt, aber in Großbritannien soll es schon keine Lumia-Geräte mehr als Ersatz für Garantiefälle geben, wie Winbeta berichtet. Die Produktion soll demnach schon vor einem Monat eingestellt worden sein. Noch betrifft das Problem Großbritannien und das Lumia 950 XL, eine Ausweitung der Situation in den kommenden Wochen ist aber wahrscheinlich. In den USA sollen Lumia-Smartphones schon aus den Stores entfernt worden sein.

Surface-Phones statt Lumia-Reihe
Aktuelle Einschätzung: Die Lumia-Reihe dürfte durch sogenannte Surface-Phones ersetzt werden, wohl auch um etwas Glanz der vergleichsweise erfolgreichen Surface-Tablets auf die Smartphone-Sparte abstrahlen zu lassen. Der Name Surface-Phone ist in einigen – mittlerweile aber wieder gelöschten – Tweets der Microsoft-Managerin Laura Butler erwähnt worden. Möglich, dass das Surface-Phone schon im Oktober vorgestellt wird, wenn ein Surface-Event stattfinden soll. Andere Branchenbeobachter gehen dagegen von einem Start erst 2017 aus.

Schon im Mai dieses Jahres hatte Microsoft das Nokia-Experiment mehr oder weniger für gescheitert erklärt. Damals hieß es, dass Windows-10-Mobile-Hardware nicht mehr primär für den Consumer-Bereich, sondern für Firmenkunden entwickelt werden solle. Mitte August hatten die Redmonder dann aber doch noch das Anniversary Update für alle Windows-10-Mobile-Geräte nachgeschoben.

At IFA 2016 in Berlin, Mercedes-Benz announced a new project called ‘In Car Office’ to incorporate more smart productivity features into your ride. The features are going to go live in Mercedes vehicles during the first half of next year, and will add Microsoft Exchange support, for one, letting your work calendar, to-do list and contacts help your vehicle offer up suggestions about destinations, calls to make and more.

The In Car Office feature obviously isn’t intended to turn your vehicle into a mobile workstation so much as it’s designed to help you more easily accomplish work-related tasks you’d probably field on-the-go anyway.

Mercedes’ In Car Office features will do things like pre-populate the navigation system with destination from your Exchange calendar, and also provide notifications offering to make calls using the in-car voice call system when you have upcoming meetings marked on your calendar. It definitely sounds like something that could lessen distraction and minimize manual input required for tasks that people already (unsafely) try to tackle during longer commutes or road trips during business hours.

The Big Review One year after the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft has released the Anniversary Update, bringing new features as well as usability tweaks to the operating system.

Windows 10 was always more than just another release. Notable innovations include the concept of Windows-as-a-service, with regular updates (free for consumer editions); and the idea of "One Windows," with a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) for applications, along with shared code across PCs, tablets and devices.

Microsoft also sought to win back users who disliked the dual personalities in Windows 8, re-introducing a desktop Start menu and making UWP applications run in a window rather than full screen. Not everything in Windows 8 was discarded, though. The UWP is the next generation of its Windows Runtime platform, and the Windows App store remains.

Strategically, Windows 10 marks the moment when Microsoft decided it was more important to have as many users as possible on the latest version of its operating system than to generate revenue from upgrades. Profits come from apps, advertising, and integration with cloud services. CEO Satya Nadella described the strategy as to "grow new monetization through services across a unified Windows platform," when he was speaking at the company's recent earnings webcast.

Nadella added that "Bing profitability continues to grow, with greater than 40 percent of the search revenue in June from Windows 10 devices." Cortana, the personal digital assistant built into Windows 10, always uses Bing for search, and users will find it hard to avoid occasional promotional notifications, particularly in the consumer editions including Windows Pro.

What's new in the Anniversary Update
New features in Windows 10 Anniversary fall into two categories: those which immediately affect the user experience, and low-level updates of interest to developers and admins. In this case, the latter are more interesting, but nevertheless there are numerous feature updates and tweaks to the user interface. The original Windows 10 was a rushed release, and fine-tuning is welcome.

The Start menu has been tweaked, and is now a three-column affair with the All Apps list always on view. This saves a click, compared to the earlier effort, but it is unlikely to satisfy those still in love with the Windows 7 Start menu with its simple hierarchical structure and tidier appearance.

If you ask the question, "Why is the Windows 10 Start menu as it is?", the answer is a long story about Windows Phone and Live Tiles and Windows 8 and tablets, and then Cortana thrown into the mix. It is functional though; and not so important when you consider all the other ways to launch applications, such as taskbar pinning, desktop shortcuts, and Search.

Talking about Cortana, there are a few changes here as well. The first is that Cortana cannot be disabled in the normal user interface, whereas there was previously an Off option in Settings. Next, there is an option to use Cortana from the lock screen. Third, notifications can now sync across devices, so you get missed call notifications on your PC, for example.

A Windows 10 annoyance is that Cortana doubles as Windows and Start Menu Search. In Windows 7, you can type into the search box in the Start menu and be confident of finding an application if it is installed. In Windows 10, there is uncertainty about whether you find your application or setting, or search the web. From Microsoft's perspective, this is core functionality. According to this article, if you disable web search you disable Cortana, and if you have Windows 10 Pro or below, you cannot change the setting anyway.
