SAMSys Announces RFID Solutions Partnership with Microsoft
Tuesday March 15, 9:41 am ET

Microsoft RFID Council membership brings together major partners delivering RFID solutions on the Microsoft platform
TORONTO, March 15 /CNW/ - SAMSys Technologies Inc. (SMY: TSX), an international provider of Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) hardware solutions and consulting services today announced that it has joined with Microsoft in providing RFID solutions through the Microsoft Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Partner Advisory Council.
As a member of the Microsoft RFID Council, and operating on a worldwide basis, SAMSys and Microsoft plan to deliver RFID solutions that comply with global standards, are low-cost, simple to deploy, and are built on a robust, scalable, open technology infrastructure. Members of the Council include major consulting firms, system integrators, independent software venders (ISVs), and RFID hardware manufacturers such as SAMSys which designs, produces and implements RFID reader solutions throughout the world.

Microsoft and SAMSys have a successful history of working jointly as partners in deploying early stage RFID pilot solutions in the U.S. and Europe with customers such as Jack Links Beef Jerky, based in Wisconsin and KiMs, a Dutch potato chip food supplier. The Jack Links project is a well known Wal(x)Mart compliance project that has recently been implemented with a high degree of success.

"We are continuing to expand our RFID product-strategy with key partners based on the needs of the industry," said Balasubramanian Sriram, Product Unit Manager for RFID strategy at Microsoft. "Working with RFID solution providers like SAMSys is part of our commitment to work closely with our customers and partners to ensure they receive the greatest value and opportunity when building their RFID solutions with Microsoft technologies."

Through the RFID Council, Microsoft is building an open software platform on which partners can create RFID solutions that enable their customers to provide increased levels of product and asset visibility across their entire enterprise supply chain. As a partner in the Microsoft RFID Council, SAMSys is committed to providing RFID reader systems that support the Microsoft Platform. As such, SAMSys readers will provide support through the Microsoft Platform`s software interface such that systems providers can add value to their RFID solutions through Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft Windows(R) CE, SQL Server(TM), BizTalk(R) Server, and Microsoft .NET.

"We are delighted to further strengthen and reinforce our association with Microsoft; and participation in the Council. It is imperative that alliances of this nature become the basis for broad implementation of the complex technology of RFID, and we need look no further than the successes we have jointly recorded both in Europe and North America to validate the importance of this deployment model," said Cliff Horwitz, chairman, president and CEO of SAMSys.
