Am 27. Juni 2005 geht der weltgrößte Online-Poker Anbieter PartyGaming an die Börse in London. Die Gesellschaft mit Hauptsitz in Gibraltar bietet ihre Aktien zu einem Preis von 111 bis 127 Pence zum Kauf an. Damit ist das Unternehmen mit 4,4 Mrd. Pfund (6,4 Mrd. Euro) bis 5,1 Mrd. Pfund (7,4 Mrd. Euro) bewertet. Da es keine Kapitalerhöhung geben wird, geben die Gründer der Gesellschaft ca. 22 Prozent ihrer Anteile ab. Somit beläuft sich das Volumen der Emission auf bis zu 1,4 Mrd. Pfund. Das geplante IPO ist damit der größte Börsengang in London seit vier Jahren und der Poker-Anbieter wird sofort in den FTSE-100 aufrücken.


PartyGaming konnte seit seiner Gründung 1997 ein großes Wachstum aufweisen. Im Jahr 2002 erwirtschaftete das Unternehmen einen Umsatz von 31,1 Mio. Dollar (25 Mio. Euro), ein Jahr später betrug der Umsatz schon 153 Mio. Dollar und 2004 rund 602 Mio. Dollar. Im ersten Quartal des Jahres 2005 konnte PartyGaming bereits 222 Mio. Dollar erzielen. Auch bei den Erträgen zeigt sich der Erfolg des Unternehmens: vor zwei Jahren betrug der Nachsteuergewinn 84 Mio. Dollar und im letzten Jahr 350 Mio. Dollar

Für 2005 erwartet man einen Umsatz von 900mio. Dollar und einen Nachsteuergewinn von 540mio. Dollar

PartyGaming macht IPO-Party

Der Coup ist geglückt: In London startete die Aktie des Online-Poker-Unternehmens mit Gewinnen in den ersten Handelstag. Umgerechnet rund sieben Milliarden Euro schwer ist das größte IPO des Landes seit fünf Jahren.


Analysten reiben sich die Augen, Anleger schlagen erbarmungslos zu. Mit 116 Pence startete die PartyGaming-Aktie am Montag in den Handel in London – und legte schnell auf rund 126 Pence zu. Damit hat das Papier den oberen Bereich der Zeichnungsspanne erreicht, die vor dem IPO genannt worden war. Sie reichte von 111 bis 127 Pence; eher am unteren Bereich der Spanne wurde die Aktie also in den Handel an der London Stock Exchange geschickt.


Größer als die Börsenelite
Der Börsengang des Unternehmens, das Online-Poker und Online-Bingo-Spiele anbietet, ist in mehrfacher Hinsicht kurios. Mit einer Marktkapitalisierung von rund sieben Milliarden Euro, ist PartyGaming höher bewertet als britische Börsenschwergewichte wie British Airlines oder die Supermarktkette J Sainsbury. Nach dem Börsengewicht und dem an der Börse handelbaren Streubesitz ist PartyGaming damit ein Kandidat für den britschen Auswahlindex FTSE

MÜNCHEN (COMPUTERWOCHE) - Umgerechnet rund 1,37 Milliarden Euro hat der weltgrößte Online-Poker-Veranstalter Partygaming bei seinem Börsengang am gestrigen Montag in London eingespielt. Insgesamt ist das im Steuerparadies Gibraltar ansässige Unternehmen etwa acht Milliarden Euro und damit mehr als die Fluggesellschaft British Airways wert. Die Marktkapitalisierung des Börsenneulings entspricht ungefähr dem Jahresumsatz der gesamten Internet-Glücksspielindustrie im vergangenen Jahr. Partygaming betreibt die weltgrößte Online-Poker-Seite und hat in diesem Bereich einen weltweiten Marktanteil von 55 Prozent

ich stelle mit freude fest, dass es außer mir noch andere smarte anleger gibt, die rechtzeitig auf partygaming aufmerksam geworden sind.

der heutige kurseinbruch ist sicherlich mit gewinnmitnahmen zu erklären. zudem wurden dabei auch zahlreiche SL aktiviert, wodurch der kurs weiter gedrückt wurde. alles in allem, eine lukrative kaufgelegenheit.

allerdings gehe ich davon aus, dass der kurs bereits morgen wieder über der marke von 170p tendieren wird, bevor er am 06.09 zu einem neuen höchststand aufbricht.

In a research note published this morning, the analysts mention that the company is poised to benefit from the estimated 44% CAGR of the global poker market in 2004-2009. Deutsche Bank expresses its optimism regarding PartyGaming’s growth prospects. PartyGaming`s significant cash flows are expected to be utilized to increase shareholder returns and for acquisitions focused on diversifying the company`s income stream, the analysts say.

LONDON (SHARECAST) - Controversial gambling group PartyGaming was started with a `buy` recommendation and 205p price target at Williams de Broe today.

The broker said the shares remain undervalue, despite them having clocked up a near 30% rise since floating in June. De Broe thinks there is some significant upside to the stock.

Williams de Broe added that with PartyGaming being so highly cash-generative it could easily acquire a $1bn cash pile by 2008, which it may then return to shareholders.

Goldman said PartyGaming is the clear market leader in online poker and remains the best play on the current strong growth momentum, which could drive its short-term performance.

Sportingbet was started as “underperform” with a fair value target of 344p, as the broker said despite the technical illegality of its US sports product the shares trade at a small premium to PartyGaming.

Trotz der bisher spektakulären Wachstumsraten würden sich die Börsenexperten in Hinblick auf das Unternehmen zurückhaltend zeigen. PartyGaming chief exec Richard Segal has revealed that the giant poker group, which last month entered the London Stock Exchange (LSE) with a highly successful IPO, is to re-launch its casino operations early in 2006.

The new branding will be PartyCasino, and on the financial side it will be using a shared wallet with the massive PartyPoker.com site. Extensive cross-marketing possibilities are seen and will
be fully exploited.

PartyGaming`s current casino brand StarLuckCasino contributed around 8 percent of the group revenues in the year ending December 2004, and Segal admits the casino side of the business had been neglected until now.

"The group has had such spectacular growth in its poker room the focus has been on poker so far." Going forward there are now [Party Gaming] people 100 percent focused on casino with the resources to take the business forward. We will start leveraging the very significant brand values of Party Poker to our casino offering, he added.

Segal said he was not concerned at reports of slowing growth rates in the online casino industry, and opined, "I think there is a lot of growth left in that sector." Our casino business has grown fairly materially over the past couple of years, despite the fact it has been a neglected part of PartyGaming."

It seems bizarre but one of the biggest companies on the European side of the Atlantic is banned from operating on the American side.

Partygaming, the internet poker company that floated on the London Stock Exchange this week, is believed to have a worth greater than many blue chip companies - but US law-makers are adamant that it breaks the law.

Online gambling is banned in America, so Partygaming which was set up by an American is based in Gibraltar with no assets in the US.

Its prospectus concedes: "In many countries, including the United States, the group`s activities are considered to be illegal by the relevant authorities."

But, it adds the crucial clause: "Partygaming and its directors rely on the apparent unwillingness or inability of regulators generally to bring actions against businesses with no physical presence in the country concerned".

In other words, even if Partygaming were illegal, what could the authorities do?

Compulsive pleasure

Not that Americans are exactly shunning the website.

It`s estimated that nine out of every 10 of its dollars last year came from the US.

At $600m those revenues are hefty and generated a profit of $350m in 2004.

When the dotcom bubble burst five years ago, not everything was destroyed - online gambling quietly thrived.

And then noisily thrived.

Partygaming was founded by Californian lawyer Ruth Parasol, who is now based in Gibraltar.

She teamed up with an Indian software engineer who designed a programme that would allow thousands of people anywhere in the world to simultaneously take part in internet poker games.

Their timing was impeccable.

Partypoker exploded as a game in 2002, driven partly by television coverage of big money contests with cameras under a glass table so viewers could see the players` cards.

It was a compulsive, vicarious pleasure that hooked multitudes of prospective customers.

Organised crime

Every estimate now predicts that growth will be phenomenal, perhaps from an annual billion dollars spent globally today to 10 times that amount in five years.


American poker players go online regardless of US law

Much will turn on the law in its biggest market, the United States.

The Interstate Wireline Act was passed nearly 50 years ago in an effort to stop organised crime rigging gambling.

Under it, "wire communication" of bets was outlawed on "sporting events or contests".

Legal disagreement

But poker clearly isn`t a "sporting event" so is it a "contest" as defined by the law?

American lawyers are divided.

In 2001, a judge in Louisiana ruled that the act "does not prohibit internet gambling on a game of chance", a ruling that was sustained by a higher court.

Other states take a different view.

The Attorney General of New York, Eliot Spitzer, pursued finance houses that allowed their services be used to pay for online gambling - so firms based in New York have now blocked the use of their credit cards for online gambling.

Laughing all the way to the bank

So state law varies while the Justice Department maintains that federal law is unambiguously opposed to on-line gambling.

On top of that, the World Trade Organisation may have something to say about it.

In the past it has ruled that American attempts to criminalise some companies offering online gambling from the Caribbean broke rules of fair trade.

And some American companies based in Las Vegas may now be worried that they cannot get involved in what is a very lucrative expansion of their business from real casinos to virtual ones.

They have assets in the US which the authorities could come after if they break American law, so they are tied to real bricks-and-mortar casinos on terra firma rather than imaginary ones in cyberspace.

Which leaves the owners of Partygaming laughing all the way to the bank - whatever American legislators might think.

LONDON, August 29 (newratings.com) - Analysts at Arbuthnot Securities maintain their "sell " rating on PartyGaming (ticker: PRTY-GBX). The target price is set to 125p.

In a research note published on August 26, the analysts mention that the company is scheduled to report its first ever interim results on September 6. The analysts expect PartyGaming to post robust headline revenue results for the period. Arbuthnot Securities believes that PartyGaming’s stock is overvalued at present, given the company’s substantial exposure to the US market and dependence on a one-product offering, which is seasonal in nature.

July 2 - PartyGaming, the recently listed online gambling group, has announced plans to launch an online casino under the Party brand - PartyCasino. The casino will be fully integrated into the PartyGaming e-wallet, allowing seamless transfer of fund between the poker room and casino. The site is due to be launched dusting the first half of 2006. The obvious logic behind the launch is leveraging the Party brand, and maximizing the cross selling opportunity into the Party Poker database.

Starluck Casino is the current casinos owned by PartyGaming. It contributed a paltry 8% of the group revenues for their 2004 financial year.

Richard Segal, Chief Executive Office of PartyGaming, admits that the casino side of the business has been the poor cousin.

"Our aim is the leverage the brand value that we have built up in Party" he added.

Party-Gaming-Aktionäre dürften dem Handelsbeginn dagegen wenig zuversichtlich entgegengeblickt haben. Bereits vor Handelsbeginn hatte ihre Aktie fast ein Viertel an Wert verloren. Der Grund war ein schwacher Ausblick. Der Online Casino-Betreiber erwartet nur ein moderates Marktwachstum.

LONDON (SHARECAST) - Cruise operator Carnival is on course to fill its ships even more efficiently this year even after pushing through fare increases, writes the Times.

The company sits on a multiple of 18.4 times this year’s forecast earnings. The yield is 1.9%. It all sounds a bit pricey. But this is pretty much the most compelling pure growth play in the FTSE 100. Buy.

Ark’s new cancer treatment, Scavidin, represents a true breakthrough as it means in future cancer sufferers could be able to take much smaller doses of the poisons they currently require to fight tumours.

Ark is a young business and has never made a profit. But it has at least a year of cash to clinch partnership deals with deeper-pocketed drugs groups. A speculative buy says the Times.

Stockbroker WH Ireland looks well placed, so long as markets hold up. A £5m net cash pile and the prospect of another big dividend increase in the current year should help to underpin the shares. It still looks inexpensive compared with its peers. Buy says the Times.

WH Ireland remains one of the cheapest in the sector adds the Independent. Investors should hold on for further gains.

Online gaming group PartyGaming`s recent moves have been very canny. By taking out competitors, resolving legal issues, and tidying up its platform, the company is well positioned to focus on growth.

The shares sit on a price-earnings multiple of 14 times - and should rise further ahead of and after full-year financial results on 28 February.

It also remains strongly cash-generative and has an ungeared balance sheet that is ripe to lead sector consolidation. PartyGaming`s shares continue to offer good value. Buy says the Telegraph.

Empire Online must turn positive noises about handing the majority of the $250m it has just been given by PartyGaming back to shareholders into a reality.

Businesses like Empire are cash-generative, so can afford to give most of it back without damaging the business.

Empire also needs to spend time outlining the company`s revised strategy so investors know what the company`s thrust is going forward. At 118p, hold on for the cash-back says the Telegraph.

Aside from its presence in Russia, exhibition organiser ITE is also busy investing for its future by establishing operations in such places as China, Iran and Mongolia. For anyone looking to benefit from emerging country economic growth, ITE should be a core holding says the Independent.

As well as prospects for Irn Bru, AG Barr`s five-year franchise agreement with Cadbury Schweppes for Orangina, a distribution deal for Snapple and has a similar arrangement with Unilever for Lipton Iced Tea should underpin long-term growth and makes the shares a buy says the Independent.

nach dem "sell on good news" zum trading update wirds jetzt wieder spannend! der boden bei 117-118 hat gehalten und schon melden sich die ersten institutionellen mit kaufempfehlungen zu wort. nach -25% von 157 auf 117 ist jetzt wieder viel frische luft nach oben.ich schätze so +50% und als buy trigger sollte das full-year-result diesmal richtig zünden. hoffe nicht,dass wir am 28. trotz hervorragender news nur tiefe,rote kurszahlen sehn. charttechnick stimmt, analystenempfehlungen stimmen, zukunftsaussichten stimmen und der rechtsstreit mit empire wurde auch sehr "canny" gelöst.

an der börse weiß man nie wies kommt bis es kommt und das party nicht gerade eine konservative aktie ist dürfte wohl auch jedem bekannt sein, aber keine branche ist zur zeit spannender wie die gambling branche, denn deren wachstumsraten sind phantstisch...

so better join the party now before the club gets crowded!
