Hallo Zusammen,
· business accelerated through 1999 - each quarter was better than the last
· the sales and earnings progression are extremely good, with sales in line with our expectations and margins slightly ahead of our forecast
· for 2000 we expect revenue growth of >100% (strong evidence of the perceived quality of the product)
· we expect further substantial margin expansion, based on substantial fixed cost leverage
· COR-LIFE is a key enabling technology for Germany`s life-insurance sector
Schroders Update in voller Länge.
Headline: Very impressive Q4 1999 results
Key Points/Comments:
COR AG Insurance Technologies (COR) today reported preliminary sales and earnings data for the quarter and year ended 31 December 1999:
Preliminary 1999 results
€m 1998 1999a 1999f
Sales 5.9 11.2 11.2
EBIT (1.3) 0.4 0.1
Pre-tax (1.3) 0.4 0.3
a = actual, f= Schroder Securities` forecast. Source: Company data
A review of the company`s quarterly financials illustrates that business accelerated through 1999 - each quarter was better than the last.
1999 sales and earnings progression
Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 12m
Sales growth* +42% +86% +111% +120% +90%
EBIT margin -5.4% -1.1% 4.3% 11.5% 3.6%
* year-on-year. Source: Company data
These numbers are extremely good, with sales in line with our expectations and margins slightly ahead of our forecast. We leave our forecasts unchanged.
For 2000 we expect revenue growth of >100%, driven by
· new customer acquisitions (especially for COR-Outsourcing). After the uncertainty caused by proposed changes to life insurance taxation in H2 1999 we expect new customer announcements in H1 2000; and
· substantial service revenues with existing customers from projects to migrate old products to new COR software, where customers had previously successfully installed COR-LIFE to run just new products (also strong evidence of the perceived quality of the product by the customer.
We expect further substantial margin expansion taking EBIT margin to 15.3%. Our expectation is based on substantial fixed cost leverage (R&D, G&A etc).
Investment Conclusion:
Information technology is an increasingly important driver of competitive advantage in the financial services sector. COR`s standard contract administration software (COR-LIFE) is a key enabling technology for Germany`s life sector. The COR investment case rests on:
· Value - 2.1x forecast sales in 2002 versus 2002e EBIT margin of 29%.
· Growth - is set to be dramatic in both sales and earnings. We forecast 1999-2002 revenue CAGR of +62% and EBIT margin to rise from 4% to 29%.
· Theme - play on IT outsourcing, growth in private savings and potentially in B2B e-commerce.
· Quality - customers like Dialog/Generali, R&V and Direkt Anlage Bank, partners like KPMG Consulting.
Our end of year price target remains € 20.6 (no-growth fair value using forecast 2002 EV/sales), with more potential further out. For more details see our research note published on 13 January 2000.

Hey!!
