„Microsoft HoloLens Top Smart Glasses Platform
In a recent survey by Digi-Capital, AR industry officials listed Microsoft's HoloLens as their top focus among smart glasses platforms at 77%, followed by Magic Leap at 67%.
Even though Apple doesn't have a smart glasses platform, respondents listed it in third place at 43%.
Rounding out the top 10 smart glasses platforms, Google Glass Enterprise Edition was fourth at 35%. Vuzix (VUZI) was fifth at 30%, followed by Nreal at 21%, RealWear 21%, Focals by North 18%, Daqri 17% and Epson with 17%.
Digi-Capital surveyed 776 industry professionals from the Augmented World Expo conference. It conducted the survey online April 19 to May 18 and released the findings on May 24.
The lion's share of survey respondents, 78%, are focused on augmented reality using smartphones. Meanwhile, 64% are focused on smart glasses.
Apple's ARKit is the top mobile AR platform for development today with 73% of respondents using it. Google's ARCore is the second most used at 68%.“
Meine Rede:
Augmented Reality In 'Trough Of Disillusionment'
Late last year, market research firm Gartner said augmented reality technology was nearing the bottom of the "trough of disillusionment" stage of the hype cycle for emerging technologies. It had fallen from the "peak of inflated expectations." Gartner said AR still has five to 10 years before it reaches the "plateau of productivity" stage.
The AR market already has seen a bunch of shakeouts. Last year, Intel (INTC) sold its AR technology portfolio to North, maker of the Focals smart glasses. And AR startups Blippar, Meta and Osterhout Design Group all folded.
