That would be too easy
With all due respect to him, if everyone`s holding tight because we`re optimistic about the economy and therefore the stock market, if we get to 3250 intraday on the Nasdaq, we will break 3000 intraday. Too many are looking for the panic low to hold so it might not.
The double-bottom is a bit overused nowadays, so much so the game is well-known(buying the retest). That`s why in recent years, the "w" pattern with the second low slightly lower than the first, has become more common. I remember when I got faked out in `98. Was holding Dell(a sacred cow then) and the Nasdaq was looking to retest 1500, a level it had tested successfully 4 times prior going back to the fall of `97. All the gurus were talking up Nasdaq 1500 then as the mother of all support levels and if we broke it was all over. Well, in October `98, we closed below 1500 for two days in a row and I sold along with everyone else who thought the "w" double bottom broke down. That was the final shakeout. Well, from that day the Nasdaq rocketed and I had to chase the market on the upside. I never forgot that. In a peverse way so many were looking at the same pattern to hold the only way to get the final capitulation, or flush, was to break it temporarily before we could rally.
Seeing the severity of the Nasdaq selloff is similar to `98, I would not be surprised if the same thing happened again.
Just ask ourselves if we would honestly panic sell in the heat of battle if we broke 3250 on the Nasdaq...and broke 3000 intraday. Especially if we were holding big losses going into the selloff from before and just couldn`t take it anymore. Most probably, which is all Abbey Cohen and her Goldman Sachs cronies need to have happen to grab all the cheap hi-tech shares and utter the "undervalued" phrase and force you to chase the market on the ensuing rebound.
Hold tight

Hold tight
Fra Diabolo
Hallo Fra Diabolo
