Global Competition in USD 2.9 Million Deal to Install Powerful Computing
Platform

S&T System Integration & Technology Distribution AG, Vienna, a Central and
Eastern European market leader in IT system integration, has won a USD 2.9
million contract to supply Romtelecom, Romania`s national fixed line provider,
with a high-performance, mission-critical enterprise storage data center.

S&T Romania won a tender with a complex offer based on state of the art
hardware and software supplied by HP, EMC, CNT and Cisco, beating out tough
competition from international players such as Compaq, IBM and other HP
partners.

The choice of S&T was based on the quality of its comprehensive solution,
strong local service and support capabilities, broad-based experience in
mission critical computing and recognized expertise in designing and
implementing enterprise storage systems.

For the first time, Romtelecom is consolidating its main IT applications at
a central level. When fully installed by mid-2000, the S&T solution will
represent the most powerful RISC-based computing platform in Romania, and the
country`s most complex, full-featured enterprise storage system.

Under the terms of the contract, S&T is providing a high-performance, high
availability, scalable data center with high-speed interconnect infrastructure
ensuring Romtelecom reliable, 24 hour, 7 day a week operations. A state of the
art Disaster Recovery architecture is implemented based on EMC`s solution, in
order to ensure business continuity and to protect the company information.

Romtelecom`s fixed line system serves a fast-growing clientele of about 4
million users at present, but is facing strong competition from mobile phone
providers. The company is making a major effort to expand nationwide telephone
penetration, which is currently at a level of 17%, but is expected to increase
to 25% by the year 2005.

The S&T solution will have sufficient computing power to run all the company`s
strategic applications such as customer care, billing and enterprise resource
planning, state-of-the-art enterprise storage components including disaster
tolerant architecture with on-line remote back-up of strategic data and
applications, as well as ensuring data integrity based on an advanced, high-end

backup system. S&T is responsible for technical planning and design,
installation and implementation, along with employee training, operational
support and maintenance services.

enveloping centers, a new state-of-the art billing and customer care system,
a cost accounting system and other IT applications, it will be the core of

S&T-Chef Karl Tantscher wird die rumänische Romtelecom mit einem Storage Data Center versorgen. Der Auftrag hat einen Wert von 2,9 Millionen Dollar. S&T Romania hatte sich in einem internationalen Tenderverfahren gegen mehrere Konkurrenten durchgesetzt. Die S&T-Aktie notiert an der Easdaq zur Zeit bei 18,5 Euro und ist seit Jahresbeginn bereits um 164,29 Prozent gestiegen. Zuletzt gab es eine "Strong Buy"-Empfehlung der CA IB.
