IFCO Systems Introduces New Pallet Pooling System In Canada
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 17, 2000--IFCO Systems N.V.`s (``IFCO``)
(Frankfurt:IFE)(Nasdaq:IFCO - news) North American operations announced today it is introducing a new pallet pooling system in Canada that reduces
overall distribution costs and eliminates waste from the supply chain.
The IFCO FLEX(TM) System is a pallet pooling program that gives Canadian manufacturers, distributors and retailers the flexibility to ship one-way in
the supply chain while either owning or renting pallets.
``The IFCO FLEX(TM) System has received overwhelming retailer support in Canada. Safeway, Federated Co-op, Longos Supermarket, TDL Group
and Northern Distribution are among a few of the retailers that have already accepted the new pallet pooling system,`` said Jim Griffin, chief executive
officer IFCO Systems North America. ``We are extremely pleased with the early acceptance of the program and anticipate additional major retailers
joining us over the next few weeks.``
IFCO launched an initial test of the new pallet program this summer. ``Our initial test with Imperial Tobacco has been very successful. We will begin the
next phase of our rollout in early September,`` added Griffin.
IFCO Systems will sort, repair and redistribute the pallets through its modern depot system. ``We have made significant investments in our depot
network. We have increased our facility capacity, installed the most state-of-the-art pallet sorting and handling equipment as well as implemented
PalTrac(TM), an electronic pallet management system,`` said Jim Griffin. IFCO FLEX(TM) pallets will be identified by their distinctive markings.
``IFCO Systems is committed to developing intelligent supply chain systems that increase the efficient flow of goods globally. Driven by our Canadian
customers` concerns, we felt it necessary to create the FLEX Pallet System to better serve industry requirements and customer needs,`` said Martin

customers will have the ability to maintain their pallet asset value through ownership while having the option to rent needed pallets at peak times. This
