      Hallo APT

      @alle

INVESTORS CHRONICLE: COMPANY RESULTS: DICOM - ELECTRONIC DOCUMENT AND DATA CAPTURE -
Investors Chronicle - United Kingdom, Sep 22, 2000, 280 words

Dicom is transforming itself from a low margin box shifter to concentrate on developing its own software and products. January`s listing on Frankfurt`s Neuer Markt raised GBP40m, which was used to complete the acquisition of US electronic data capture (EDC) group Kofax Image Products.

In August, it bought 60 percent of PDS, a provider of software components and services to the EDC market in Italy, for GBP1.9m and has just taken 6 per cent of Cardiff Software, a US-based data capture group. It recently sold 80 percent of its loss-making government solutions division to management for GBP2.1m and aims to sell the Samsung distribution business this year.

While Dicom experienced a slowdown in sales in Q3, in common with the rest of the market, it says sales are now back to normal. Pre-tax profits should hit around GBP12m this year with earnings of 41p as Kofax chips in.

      IC VIEW

The EDC market is growing rapidly and Dicom claims a 35 percent share of the market worldwide. The shares have fallen to a more realistic level since March and given the new focus on high-margin business, offer good value.

COMPANIES & FINANCE: UK AND IRELAND: Dicom likely to spin off Samsung unit
      Financial Times, Sep 20, 2000, 284 words

Dicom, the data and document management company that obtained a secondary listing on Frankfurt`s Neuer Markt earlier this year, yesterday reported record profits and indicated that its Samsung distribution business would be spun off next year.

Otto Schmid, chairman and chief executive, said the group was moving away from its foundations as a low margin distributor of electronic goods to a provider of software and services.

The paperless office was probably a dream, and the rapidly expanding amount of digital information was available in many different forms. "We think that our company should provide the infrastructure for other companies to get their digital acts together," Mr Schmid said.

The keystone to the move towards software solutions was the acquisition of Kofax Image Products of California, which started to contribute to sales in February.

The deal was financed by the issue of 6m shares on the Neuer Markt at Euros 12.50 apiece, equivalent to 761p, raising about Pounds 40m.

Kofax has two software products that the group hopes will set industry standards: Ascent, which provides a central programme for capturing documents and data including e-mails, and Virtual ReScan, which enhances the quality and accuracy of scanned images.

Before acquiring Kofax, the group was acting as distributor for third-party products.

In the year to June 30 Kofax contributed Pounds 9.7m to total sales of Pounds 99.2m, up from Pounds 87.9m. Pre-tax profits moved up from Pounds 3.1m to Pounds 3.86m, leaving earnings flat at 19.1p following the German listing.

However, the group claimed that operating profits more than doubled to Pounds 6.33m after adjusting for goodwill amortisation, the strength of sterling and losses of Pounds 876,000 at a Swiss distribution business sold back to its management during the year.

A proposed final dividend of 2.12p takes the total from 2.76p to 3.18p.

      The shares closed down 7 1/2p at 582 1/2p.

      ------------------------------------------------------------
Investec Henderson Crosthwaite, the group`s broker, is forecasting profits this year of Pounds 11.8m.

      Hi Ritz,
