NEW YORK, Oct 23, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ILEX(tm) Oncology Inc. (Nasdaq: ILXO)
and Symphar S.A. of Geneva, Switzerland, today announced that they have opened a
Phase II clinical study of APOMINE(tm) for patient accrual in Lyon, France.
ILEX President and CEO Richard L. Love will update investors on the APOMINE
study and other ILEX developments at an 11:00 a.m. EDT presentation today at the
CIBC World Markets` 11th Annual Health Care Conference at the Plaza Hotel in New
York City. The presentation will be available for public view by 11:00 a.m. EDT
today on the ILEX Web site at www.ilexoncology.com/investor/fact/slides.html.
APOMINE is a potent, orally active bisphosphonate tetra-ester derivative being
co-developed by ILEX and Symphar. The Phase II study will be conducted at Lyon`s
Centre Leon Berard by a group of physicians under the direction of Dr.
Jean-Pierre Droz.
The clinical trial will begin evaluating the effectiveness of APOMINE in the
treatment of prostate cancer and will further study the drug`s safety in this
patient category. According to the National Cancer Institute, prostate cancer is
the most common tumor in men in the United States, diagnosed in almost one-fifth
of American males during their lifetimes.
APOMINE induces apoptosis, the normal biological process involving a genetically
programmed series of events leading to the death of a cell.
"APOMINE activates the Farnesoid X Receptor (FXR), an orphan receptor in the
nucleus, and a cascade of biological signals within the cells that rapidly
induce apoptosis without affecting normal, healthy cells," said Symphar Director
of Research and Development Craig Bentzen, Ph.D.
"The prior Phase I studies have confirmed the lack of cytotoxicity to normal
tissues as demonstrated by the absence of any myelosuppresion along with an
excellent safety profile thus making APOMINE one of the more encouraging cancer
drugs on the research horizon."

several types of cancers," Love said. "Currently, there are no compelling data
that show any one prostate cancer therapy has a clinically better chance of
success over any other. The possibility of giving patients more treatment

This is the first study of APOMINE in the treatment of prostate cancer. In the
current study, men previously diagnosed with prostate cancer who have rising
prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels in three consecutive PSA screenings will
be given a continuous daily dose of APOMINE for about three months. These
patients also must have shown no response to hormonal therapy.

Ich bin schon relativ lange in diesem Wert investiert und man braucht schon viel Geduld. Vieles hängt davon ab, ob nun endlich Campath zugelassen wird. Aber ein Blick auf die Produktpipeline zeigt ein wunderbares Bild. (Ein Medikament kurz vor Zulassung, 4 in Phase III, 7 in Phase II und 3 in Phase I)
Ich hoffe, dass Ende des Jahres Campath zugelassen wird und sich meine Geduld auszahlen wird.

ILEX hat die Zulassung von C.im Febr. 2000 bei der FDA beantragt. Zwischenzeitlich wurden erforderliche Unterlagen nachgereicht, so dass nun damit gerechnet wird, dass Campath in Q 04/00 od. spätestens in Q 01/01 zur Vermarktung in den USA freigegeben wird.

Habe bei 47E keinen Stopkurs hintergesetzt.Dann gings ja wie jeder weiß auf 27E runter.Bei den Euro-Kurs zur Zeit liegen wir bei ca 44E!
Soll ich jeztz einen Stopkurs hintersetzen?
Wenn mit "C" alles gut geht,sind wir zu Weihnachten richtig aus dem schneider!

Der Verlust im dritten Quartal 2000 ging auf $8.6 Millionen zurück, oder ein Verlust von $0.34 pro Aktie. 1999 betrug der Verlust noch $16.2 Millionen, oder $1.00 pro Aktie.
