Die Aktie von Constellation 3d steigt heute an der Nasdaq gegen den Trend um 11,3% auf 11 3/8 Dollar. Die Firma entwickelt optische, beschreibbare 140 Gigabyte große Speichermedien im CD-Format (Fluorescent multilayer disc - FMD), sowie 5 MB große Speichercards (fluorescent multilayer card - FMC) . Da die Medien und Hardware als Prototyen schon funktionieren, rückt die Serienproduktion in greifbare Nähe. Man arbeitet in dieser Richtung bereits mit namhaften Firmen wie z. B. Ricoh und Zeon Corporation of Japan zusammen. Als Einsatzgebiet zielt die FMD auf den Konsumermarkt. Da die FMD abwärtskompatibel zur DVD und CD sein soll, kann man von einer schnellen Marktdurchdringung ausgehen. Man beachte, daß ca. 12 Stunden DV-Videomaterial auf einer FMD platz finden. Die FMS ist dagegen besonders als Speichermedium für digitale Fotoappate interessant. Medien mit höherer Speicherkapazität (bis zu 1000 Gigabyte) sind bereits in der Erprobung.

Constellation 3d wird auch in Berlin gehandelt (WKN 920863 ). Wegen der geringen Umsätze sollte man den Kauf dort streng limitieren.

Der Anstieg gestern war schön - klar, aber leider ohne news, sodaß hier, wie öfters in den letzten Monaten u.U. die Shorts den Preis hochgetrieben haben.
ABER möglicherweise hängt es doch mit all den Events der nächsten 2 Wochen zusammen angefangen nächsten Donnerstag mit der COMDEX Präsentation, dann Miramax ??(17.11.)??, die Analysten/Investorentreffen in London, Frankfurt und am 27.11. in New York. Ich könnte mir vorstellen das bis zum New Yorker Treff das NASDAQ listing durch ist - erst dann würde dieser Event richtig Sinn machen.

ich hab auch keine vertieften Kenntnisse in Charttechnik aber ich glaub nicht das man da viel draus machen kann. Dafür war CFMD in den letzten Monaten zu sehr der Spielball von Zockern die den Preis ohne News mehrfach hoch und runter trieben. Nachfolgend eine Adresse. Hier kannst du nach (kostenloser) Anmeldung in die Glaskugel sehn und einen 5-Day Forecast (Neural Network Analysis) aller amerikanischen Aktien erstellen. Triff durchaus manchmal zu.

C3D hält sich wirklich gut im Moment. Ich hab ja vor kurzer Zeit alle Aktien rausgehauen. Nur C3D werde ich behalten und im schlimmsten Fall nachkaufen. Ich glaube aber nicht, das es dazu kommen wird. Wie ist Eure Meinung dazu?

Bei 50% minus in zwei Tagen wird auch mir schlecht. Ich habe überall recherchiert, aber keine News gefunden. Bei Ragingbull war auch nichts zu erfahren. Wenn nichts fundamentales dahintersteckt, dann sind das jetzt wohl Nachkaufkurse. Von der Story bin ich nach wie vor 100% überzeugt.

And though no retail price has been set for the disks or the hardware to run them, Schwartz says the manufacturing cost of each disk should be about 1.7 cents per gigabyte, or 42.5 cents per disk. Better yet, users will be able to record on the disks, using a technology similar to that of today`s CD burners. So anybody with one of these devices will have a cheap way to store unlimited amounts of information.

tja mit cddd ist das so eine Sache.... Das ganze hat mit der Analystenpräsentation zu tun, auf der cddd nicht wie versprochen, eine funktinoeriende FMD Card vorgestellt hat. Die Analysten wurden wieder einmal verströstet. Allerdings muss man sagen, das es strategiesche Partnerschaften gibt (Ricoh, TI, Steag) die einiges erhoffen lassen. Ich bin bullish - jedoch kann das ganze auch ein Totalverlust werden, weil andere Firmen auch nicht schlafen.

VDI nachrichten, 1.12. 00 - Constellation 3D, bisher eher Insidern bekannt, hat eine neue Speichertechnik vorgestellt. Auf ein CD-ähnliches Medium passen in Zukunft mehr als 140 GByte.
John Ellis ist des Lobes voll - die DVDTechnologie sei ein langfristig erfolgreiches Format. Gleichzeitig hält der President of Marketing von Constellation 3D (C3D), den vermeintlichen Nachfolger in den Händen. Aus heutiger Sicht werde es in Zukunft keine Speichersorgen mehr geben. In ein paar Jahren nämlich biete das US-Unternehmen auf einer transparenten Disk den Daten Platz für bis zu 140 GByte.
Im Formfaktor unterscheidet sich die so genannte Fluorescent Multilayer Disc (FMD) nicht von einer herkömmlichen CD. Das Speicherverfahren basiert auf einem photochemischen Prozess, der auch den Einsatz von mehreren Layern erlaubt. Die erste Gerätegeneration verwendet - wie in CD- und DVD-Roms - einen roten Laser. „Dadurch können wir eine hundertprozentige Lesekompatibilität gewährleisten", erklärt Ellis.
„Momentan können wir Medien mit maximal 20 Layern herstellen", erläutert Vladimir Schwartz, Chief Technology Officer von Constellation 3D. Das Unternehmen entwickle zwar an Produkten mit 100 und mehr Layern, derzeit scheitere die Umsetzung vor allem noch an den aktuellen Produktionsmöglichkeiten. Sobald blaue Laser die Marktreife erlangen, sollen sich Kapazitäten bis in den TByte-Bereich realisieren lassen.
IDC-Marktforscher Wolfgang Schlichting räumt der FMD durchaus Chancen ein. „Die Multilayertechnik wird in Zukunft eine Schlüsselrolle einnehmen." Nur so könnten höhere Speicherkapazitäten erreicht werden, als es beispielsweise mit magnetooptischen oder magnetischen Laufwerken möglich sei.
„Für die meisten Computeranwender ist eine Disk mit 25 GByte in den nächsten zwei bis vier fahren ausreichend", glaubt Dr. Eugene Levich, President und CEO von Constellation 31). Die FMD- Technologie werde einen Migrationspfad für vorhandene optische Medien und Laufwerke bieten.
Den Markteintritt plant das Unternehmen im professionellen Bereich. „So wird zum Beispiel die Digitaltechnologie in den kommenden Jahren Einzug in die Kinos halten, erklärt Ellis. Dies soll die Bildqualität verbessern und die Filme vor Verschleiß bewahren. Bisher projizieren weltweit erst 30 Lichtspielhäuser ihre Filme digital auf die Leinwand. „Mit heutigen Mitteln ist es nicht möglich, einen Film auf einem einzigen Wechsehnedium abzuspeichern", konstatiert Ellis.
Als Eintrittskarte in den Consumer Markt sollen sich HDTV-Player (High Defini-tion TV) erweisen. In den USA ist es bereits beschlossene Sache, dass alle Fernsehsender bis 2006 auf das HDTV Format umstellen müssen. IDC bescheinigt der USA für das Jahr 2004 ein Marktpotential von 6 Mio. HDTV-Geräten. „Eine Zwei-Schichten-DVD-9 kann lediglich 15 Minuten im echten HDTV 10801-Format speichern", erklärt Ellis.
Die Amerikaner planen aber nicht nur die DVD zu beerben, sondern gleichzeitig auch alle bisher bekannten Flash-Speicher. Um die Anforderungen des boomenden Marktes mobiler Geräte zu erfüllen, wie zum Beispiel Digitalkameras, E-Books, PDAs und GPS-Systemen, komprimiert Constellation 3D die FMD-Technologie auf die Größe einer Visitenkarte. Die Daten werden mit einer CCD-Kamera quasi abfotografiert und über einen lmaging-Prozess ausgelesen. „Die Clearcard kostet in der Fertigung weniger als 1 Dollar und speichert 5 GByte/Seite", unterstreicht Ellis.
IDC sieht in diesem Bereich jedenfalls akuten Handlungsbedarf. Derzeit koste ein Speichermedium mit 64 MByte noch weit über 100 Dollar. „Professionelle Studiofotografen und digitale Camcorder könnten für die FMC (Fluorescent Multilayer Card) der Markteintritt sein", glaubt Schlichting. Der Absatz von Digitalkameras wachse weltweit jährlich um 45 %. Dieses Jahr rechnet IDC mit 150 Mio. verkauften PCs, Notebooks und Handheld-Computern. In vier Jahren sollen weltweit mehr als 250 Mio. Geräte einen neuen Besitzer finden.
Constellation 3D will die Technologie über ein Lizenzmodell vertreiben. „Analysten prognostizieren, dass der Markt für FMD und FMD-Laufwerke sich im Bereich von Hunderten von Mio. Dollar und für Disks und Karten im Milliarden-Bereich bewegen wird", erklärt Ellis. Bisher konnte seine Firma Allianzen mit Ricoh, Zeon Chemicals und Steag Hamatech schließen. Vom direkten Erfolg des Unternehmens profitiert auch die deutsche Wirtschaft. Da sehe ich wenig Gefahr. Die DVD ist -wenn CDDD sich durchsetzt- auf lange Sicht ein Auslaufmodell, bzw. können die Systeme bei der angekündigten Rückwärtskompatibilität parallel betrieben werden - je nach Anwendung bzw. Speicherbedarf.

In den letzten 2 Wochen hat sich CDDD jetzt mehr als verdoppelt. Jeden Tag ein bischen höher, an einigen Tagen auch gegen den Trend bei guten Umsätzen in USA. Ich habe das Gefühl das irgendwas im Busch ist. Kauft sich jemand still und leise Anteile zusammen? möglicherweise ein größerer Partner. Ist der Einstieg von GE doch mehr als ein Gerücht oder steht der Weihnachtsmann verspätet vor der Tür?

One of my all-time favorite movies is "Desperately Seeking Susan." The irrepressible Madonna and the waif-like Rosanna Arquette thrown together in an unlikely scenario, which nonetheless is about as enjoyable a piece of escapism as I can think of. So, the Nasdaq . . . escapism or the beginning of a bull rally; or da bears . . . are they still playing with us, offering an enticing little rally that they`ll sell into later today? Nonetheless, today`s a great day to look at Cinderella stocks (the small caps who rarely get to go to the ball but instead work quietly in the background bringing in surprise returns for those who pay attention).

A couple of companies I suggested friends and fellow traders put on their radar screens earlier this week (and which I have written about recently) are taking incremental steps to the upside; but I like their conservative movements. These companies could be sleepers getting ready to wake up the crowd. Read-Rite (RDRT) continues to trade up, after a small retracement-the usual "buy the rumor, sell the news" pullback. My bet is that this company will be the Bell Microproducts (BELM) of 2001; which is also trading up from its recent low of $12 after giving last year`s investor about a 400% return if they bought at $12 in February 2000 and sold in October post-split at $34.

Constellation 3D (CDDD) is definitely a company to keep an eye on, I believe, for their technology as well as their trading activity. None of the small caps that I`m tracking are moving with the same volume as yesterday (it goes without saying, I think, given the performance of the Index this morning compared to yesterday`s "sweep `em off their feet" rally). The volume on Read-Rite was 5.5 million; this morning it`s 10% of that or down 500,000. Volume on Constellation 3D is not as striking; it`s currently 47,000 compared to yesterday`s 144,500.

Watchguard Technologies (WGRD) gained 2 points or approximately 20% yesterday and continues to trade to the upside this morning. While this stock is often tradeable, for longer-term investors, it`s a company worth keeping an eye on. One of these days, it will either become a mid-cap company or an attractive acquisition. They`re in a niche that will always grow faster than Fortune 100 companies: the small- to midsize business sector, offering security where it is actually most needed. It`s not the "big boys" that create security threats on the Internet, it`s actually the smaller companies who usually don`t understand that the Internet in its inception was never designed to be secure for business purposes.

I quite purposefully stayed away from the news that is already out there today. The Market site at Optionetics.com is delivering it with much more journalistic aplomb than I could do justice to this morning. My attention is always drawn to the small caps when the Nasdaq starts to put in signs of a sustained rally. In the general order of things, the small caps will eventually have their moment in the limelight and I usually like to catch them right before the curtain goes up and they step on stage. By the time that happens, the cost of admission is already overpriced.

Ahh - das war vorher etwas missverständlich ausgedrückt.
Wegen der Apple Geschichte mache ich mir keine Gedanken , da spielt CDDD von der Kapazität her in einer ganz anderen Liga. Konkurenten sind hier eher Reveo (www.reveo.com) oder Plasmon die ebenfalls Massenspeichertechnologien im Multilayerverfahren entwickeln. Unter dem Strich bleibt jedoch festzustellen das CDDD der Markteinführung am nächsten ist. Die Holodisk ist weit weg vom Markt - da war letzte Woche ein guter Artikel in der FAZ.
Der Anstieg der letzten Tage ist offenbar begründet in einem guten Verlauf der Show in Gaithersburg (s.u.) auf der ein HDTV-ROM, FMD-WORM, and FMD D-cinema Prototyp für das erste Quartal 2001, möglicherweise schon Anfang Februar, angekündigt wurde. Ich denke es geht voran auch wenn wir zwischendurch nichts von der Firma hören (Rom wurde auch nicht an einem Tag erbaut).

Constellation 3D Signs LOI With Lite-On for Mass Manufacturing of Fluorescent Multilayer Disc
(FMD) Drives

Leading drive sees future for high capacity media

NEW YORK, January 16, 2001 -- Constellation 3D, Inc. (C3D) (Nasdaq/NMS: CDDD) and
optical storage device manufacturer Lite-On IT Corporation, Taiwan, today announced the
completion of a formal letter of intent for Lite-On to license C3D’s Fluorescent Multilayer Disc
(FMD) technology in the production of FMD drives.

The two companies will collaborate on the design and development of optical disc drives based
on C3D’s technology. FMD technology-based solutions exponentially expand the current
standards in high-capacity disc storage, offering a quantum leap in both storage capacity and
reading/recording speeds compared to traditional optical media such as CDs and DVDs.

“Lite-On is the third largest manufacturer of CD/DVD drives in the world, with a customer base
that includes major PC and laptop manufacturers,” said Dr. Eugene Levich, CEO of C3D. “Their
manufacturing and distribution leadership has the potential to enable FMD technology to quickly
proliferate through premium brands, and help to establish FMD as a technology of choice for the
next generation of removable storage devices."

“We believe FMD has the potential to be the standard removable data storage technology of the
future and we are excited to be working with C3D to make FMD a mass market reality,” said
Max Chen, Operations VP of Lite-On.

The agreement calls for Lite-On to pay a royalty to C3D on every FMD drive produced. In
addition, Lite-On will participate in the proposed FMD technology development consortium that
will promote FMD-related media and drive manufacturing standards. The agreement also
contemplates Lite-On making a strategic investment in C3D as well as appointing a Director to
C3D’s Board.

Dr. Levich continued, "This will be the Company`s first revenue-producing agreement, and also
represents a highly significant validation of FMD technology by a recognized industry leader."

Hallihallo,

hab lange nichts mehr von mir hören lassen. Das liegt daran, daß ich leider aus Steuergründen zu 4,40 EUR meine C3Ds verkauft habe. (Kaufkurs 12!!!)
Dann mußte ich den Anstieg bis über 11 EUR ertragen, da ich den Wiedereinstieg verpaßt habe. Naja, im Moment kommt C3D wieder ganz schön zurück. Steckt da jetzt etwas Fundamentales hinter? Ich würde gerne wieder in C3D investieren.

c3d wird im Laufe des Jahres sicher auf die Fresse bekommen, wenn nicht sogar bald. Ricoh, Sony etc. bringen erst mal diesen Sommer DVD-RWs auf den Markt mit 4,7GB, für C3D ist noch kein Platz.

Ich weiss nicht wo du diesen Quark herhast - aber - was Analystenmeinungen wert sind haben wir in den letzten Monaten zu hauf gesehen. Anstatt denen zu glauben und deren gewäsch nachzuplappern mach dich unabhängig und analysiere die Firma selbst.
Es reden in den Boards zu viele ahnungslose Leute substanzlosen Quatsch - du gehörst dazu.
