HAWK URANIUM INC. ANNOUNCES OPTION AGREEMENT WITH NORONT
Hawk Uranium Inc. has entered into an option agreement with Noront Resources Ltd. pursuant to which Hawk has the option to acquire a 50-per-cent legal and beneficial interest in a property. The property includes 10 claims (covering a total of 160 claim units, or approximately 6,340 acres) in the "Ring of Fire" of the McFaulds Lake area, James Bay Lowlands, Ontario, near Noront's nickel copper discovery.
To earn its interest in the property, Hawk is required to:
Issue 400,000 common shares of Hawk to Noront immediately following approval of the option agreement by the TSX Venture Exchange;
Complete a total of $3.5-million in exploration expenditures on the property over a three-year period (of which $1-million must be incurred in the first year);
Make total cash payments to Noront of $400,000 within two years of entering into the option agreement (of which $200,000 must be paid in the first year). The cash payments may be satisfied, at the option of Noront and subject to the approval of the TSX Venture Exchange, by the issuance to Noront of 800,000 common shares of Hawk (at a deemed price of 50 cents per share).
The option agreement remains subject to required approvals by Hawk's board of directors, Noront and the TSX Venture Exchange.
Upon Hawk earning its 50-per-cent interest in the property, Hawk and Noront shall form a joint management committee to further develop the property as a joint venture with Noront continuing to act as the operator.

geile Uranprojekte (ich denke 2008 werden Uranwerte wieder massiv anziehen, da die fundamentalen Daten extrem gut aussehen) und natürlich das JV mit NORONT! Ich meine Noront ist kein kleiner Laden mehr und es deutet alles darauf hin, dass hier das nächste große Basemetalcamp in Kanada entsteht!!
Zudem ist Noront dabei, unbedingt seinen Unternehmenswert zu steigern, und das heißt die werden natürlich auch allen Gebieten explorieren was das Zeug hält! Jede gute News bringt Mehrwert für die Aktionäre und schützt vor einer zu günstigen Übernahme!

Uranium’s main objectives?
VW: The main objective of the company
has been the acquisition of or earning
into uranium prospects or projects in
Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and
Arizona. But, those projects will not be
drill ready until probably the end of the
second quarter next year. Presently, the
primary focus is on the activity level in
the McFauld’s Lake camp.
Which of Hawk Uranium’s
projects do you feel investors find the
most exciting? What special features of
the project do you feel might be most
appealing to investors?
VW: I think probably the most exciting
project and the one that will have the
most immediate impact on the company
is our participation in the very active
work in the McFauld’s Lake area of
the James Bay Lowlands where Noront
has recently made a very significant
nickel/copper discovery. We are in a
joint venture with MacDonald Mines on
the Hawk-MacNugget six-block claim in
that area. We have a number of targets
that need follow up drilling and it’s
likely we’ll be drilling on those targets
sometime over the next 2 to 3 weeks.
We’re also in process of finalizing some
additional option interests in that area.
Keep in mind that De Beers is bringing
their Victor Project into production in
that general area. A road into that site
is currently under construction and that
road will open up an area that can serve
us in the McFauld’s Lake camp. At this
point in time, the only access is by air.
In your view, what does
Noront’s discovery mean for the area
and in particular, for Hawk?
VW: This area is going to evolve, in
our view, into a very large play that will
have tremendously important aspects
over the next few years in terms of new
resource development. One reason I
say that is because we see the major
companies coming in and inquiring of
all of the players, particularly Noront,
in that area, with their wallets basically
open. It indicates that there is going to
be significant links to this play. An article
in the Financial Post makes a comparison
between Noront’s find in the James Bay
region and the Voisey’s Bay deposit. It
has sparked a major staking rush. The
majors are very much involved and
there’s no doubt that Noront has made
a very significant find. As a result, there
will be many millions of dollars that will
be invested in the project area over the
course of the next few years. To date
it is a totally under-explored area. In
our view, it will lead to additional ore
bodies and potential mines. There’s no
question about it, it is a very important
development for the mining industry.
I noticed that Hawk has a very
diverse portfolio with a variety of mineral
projects other than Uranium. What
benefit does that have for investors?
VW: There has certainly been a
tremendous interest in gold and silver
most recently. But also copper, zinc,
lead and nickel prices are reaching very
high levels. All this is indicative of what
some have called a super cycle with
respect to commodities. Particularly
resource commodity pricing, which we
feel is going to carry on for a number
of years to come. As a result of the
economic growth that is taking place
in Asia, India, and other less developed
nations, we feel that the demand for
resources, especially in China and India,
will continue to remain strong and as
a result the bias will be for continued
prices to remain firm in the international
marketplace. Consequently, we feel our
shareholders will benefit from exposure
to a variety of mineral projects.
What are the most important
considerations for Hawk Uranium when
looking for new projects or ventures?
VW: In the case of our uranium
projects, most have had a history of
prior work carried out in past uranium
cycles, either in the 50’s or 70’s, the
result of which historical resources
were established. That would be true of
our Grand Calumet property in Quebec
and those in Saskatchewan. So, we focus
on the presence of past work and the
occurrence of an identified uranium
resource having been discovered in
those earlier work programs. As these
resource estimates would not qualify
under today’s reporting procedures
we will focus on those that could be
further explored and developed and
then put into NI 43-101* category of
reserve. With regard to other ground,
we are in the process of acquiring an
interest in additional claims located
in the James Bay area. This would be
a nickel-copper project in partnership
with Noront on which we’ll have a news
release on later this week. There are
airborne radiometric surveys currently
in progress and it will be ready for a drill
program sometime early next year.
MP: Recently, the Company announced
the closing of a private placement of
flow-through units. Why did Hawk choose
this method of raising capital over other
options? What are the advantages to the
company and its shareholders?
VW: It’s attractive to investors and to
the company to have those exploration
funds available to take advantage of
the programs as they evolve. Certainly,
when it comes to exploration monies
being expended in the province of
Quebec there is an added bonus of a
grant coming back to the parties that
are expending the funds. Also, since the
company does not need the tax write-off
as it has no taxable income at this point
in time it can pass that tax benefit on to
investors.
Understandably, investors
place considerable importance on a
company’s resource potential; however,
the strength and skills of a junior’s
management team is also a crucial factor
in investor interest and loyalty. What
about Hawk Uranium’s management do
you believe impresses investors the
most?
VW: I’ve been involved in the natural
resource sector for 35+ years in
everything from exploration to senior
levels of management. Over the
course of my career, I’ve been able
to identify projects of merit, attract
and bring in management personnel
into these companies whether they
be professional geologists, technical
mining engineers, or professionals in
other areas, accountants, lawyers and
so forth. And I’ve continued to broaden
Hawk’s team and our director base so
that we benefit greatly from the input of
those talents.

most immediate impact on the company
is our participation in the very active
work in the McFauld’s Lake area of
the James Bay Lowlands where Noront
has recently made a very significant
nickel/copper discovery. We are in a
joint venture with MacDonald Mines on
the Hawk-MacNugget six-block claim in
that area. We have a number of targets
that need follow up drilling and it’s
likely we’ll be drilling on those targets
sometime over the next 2 to 3 weeks.
We’re also in process of finalizing some
additional option interests in that area.
Keep in mind that De Beers is bringing
their Victor Project into production in
that general area. A road into that site
is currently under construction and that
road will open up an area that can serve
us in the McFauld’s Lake camp. At this
point in time, the only access is by air.
In your view, what does
Noront’s discovery mean for the area
and in particular, for Hawk?
VW: This area is going to evolve, in
our view, into a very large play that will
have tremendously important aspects
over the next few years in terms of new
resource development. One reason I
say that is because we see the major
companies coming in and inquiring of
all of the players, particularly Noront,
in that area, with their wallets basically
open. It indicates that there is going to
be significant links to this play. An article
in the Financial Post makes a comparison
between Noront’s find in the James Bay
region and the Voisey’s Bay deposit. It
has sparked a major staking rush. The
majors are very much involved and
there’s no doubt that Noront has made
a very significant find. As a result, there
will be many millions of dollars that will
be invested in the project area over the
course of the next few years. To date
it is a totally under-explored area. In
our view, it will lead to additional ore
bodies and potential mines. There’s no
question about it, it is a very important
development for the mining industry.
I noticed that Hawk has a very
diverse portfolio with a variety of mineral
projects other than Uranium. What
benefit does that have for investors?
VW: There has certainly been a
tremendous interest in gold and silver
most recently. But also copper, zinc,
lead and nickel prices are reaching very
high levels. All this is indicative of what
some have called a super cycle with
respect to commodities. Particularly
resource commodity pricing, which we
feel is going to carry on for a number
of years to come. As a result of the
economic growth that is taking place
in Asia, India, and other less developed
nations, we feel that the demand for
resources, especially in China and India,
will continue to remain strong and as
a result the bias will be for continued
prices to remain firm in the international
marketplace. Consequently, we feel our
shareholders will benefit from exposure
to a variety of mineral projects.
What are the most important
considerations for Hawk Uranium when
looking for new projects or ventures?
VW: In the case of our uranium
projects, most have had a history of
prior work carried out in past uranium
cycles, either in the 50’s or 70’s, the
result of which historical resources
were established. That would be true of
our Grand Calumet property in Quebec
and those in Saskatchewan. So, we focus
on the presence of past work and the
occurrence of an identified uranium
resource having been discovered in
those earlier work programs. As these
resource estimates would not qualify
under today’s reporting procedures
we will focus on those that could be
further explored and developed and
then put into NI 43-101* category of
reserve. With regard to other ground,
we are in the process of acquiring an
interest in additional claims located
in the James Bay area. This would be
a nickel-copper project in partnership
with Noront on which we’ll have a news
release on later this week. There are
airborne radiometric surveys currently
in progress and it will be ready for a drill
program sometime early next year.
MP: Recently, the Company announced
the closing of a private placement of
flow-through units. Why did Hawk choose
this method of raising capital over other
options? What are the advantages to the
company and its shareholders?
VW: It’s attractive to investors and to
the company to have those exploration
funds available to take advantage of
the programs as they evolve. Certainly,
when it comes to exploration monies
being expended in the province of
Quebec there is an added bonus of a
grant coming back to the parties that
are expending the funds. Also, since the
company does not need the tax write-off
as it has no taxable income at this point
in time it can pass that tax benefit on to
investors.
Understandably, investors
place considerable importance on a
company’s resource potential; however,
the strength and skills of a junior’s
management team is also a crucial factor
in investor interest and loyalty. What
about Hawk Uranium’s management do
you believe impresses investors the
most?
VW: I’ve been involved in the natural
resource sector for 35+ years in
everything from exploration to senior
levels of management. Over the
course of my career, I’ve been able
to identify projects of merit, attract
and bring in management personnel
into these companies whether they
be professional geologists, technical
mining engineers, or professionals in
other areas, accountants, lawyers and
so forth. And I’ve continued to broaden
Hawk’s team and our director base so
that we benefit greatly from the input of
those talents.

Grand Calumet Uranium Property
Hawk\'s Grand Calumet uranium property consists of 47
claims totaling approximately 5,600 acres in Grand Calumet
Township, Quebec. Hawk has the right to earn a 70%
to 100% interest in the various claims that make up the
property which is easily accessible via all weather gravel and
paved roads. The Grand Calumet uranium property was
first worked by Calumet Uranium Mines Ltd. from 1953 to
1954 during which period radiometric surveys, along with
stripping and sampling were undertaken following the
discovery of significant radioactivity. Based on these surveys
and positive sampling results, diamond drilling started
in the spring of 1954. By June 1955, 20,082 feet of drilling
in 39 holes had been completed. 80 holes were reportedly
drilled, while geological mapping, mineralogical studies,
and further analysis was completed by 1956.
According to Geological Report 80, Radioactive Mineral
Occurrences of the Province of Quebec, by D.M. Shaw,
1958, there are two main types of mineralization on the
property. The first is characterized by coarse grained and
irregularly shaped fluorite- pyroxene skarns. The fluorite is
dark purple and commonly contains long narrow prisms of
partially altered uranothorite. Dark green pyroxene, apatite,
pink calcite, scapolite, feldspar and several other minerals
are also present. Associated rocks are well developed
pyroxene granites, syenites and hybrids. The second is
characterized by limestone or skarn composed principally
of white to salmon-pink calcite. Small amounts of diopside,
lithium bearing yellow mica and chondrodite are also present.
A radioactive zone extends 500 feet on surface with a
few feet of width exposed. A 1,500 pound bulk sample
assayed 0.10% U3O8 and 0.15% ThO2, the radioactive
minerals being uranoan, thorianite, uranothorite and monazite.
The zone appears to be a calcite rich skarn which
closely resembles the limestone in which it occurs. Structurally
the area of the zone is complex with folding and
cross-folding evident. This zone was reported to contain
490,000 tons averaging 0.05% U3O8 and 0.15% ThO2. A
truly unknown opportunity, the only reference to the
Grand Calumet property subsequent to 1958 is the 1983
Annual Report of Albarmont. Within, their report a possible
tonnage of 1,000,000 tonnes grading 0.08% U3O8 ,
0.29% ThO2 and 10-15% fluorite is indicated.
A detailed Airborne Radiometric Survey has recently been
completed identifying a number of targets that warrant
follow up work.
McFaulds Lake – McNugget Claims
The Hawk/MacDonald Joint Venture ground covers 6
mining claims each consisting of 16 units covering an area
totaling approximately 3,800 acres. Hawk\'s holds a 36.75%
interest in the property and MacDonald holds 63.25%
interest. Hawk has been advised by MacDonald that initial
ground work has commenced on one of the targets on the
Joint Venture ground with drilling anticipated to be conducted
during the current program. Two additional targets
are expected to have ground surveys completed in the near
term with drilling to follow up.
Hawk has also very recently entered into an option to earn
a 50% interest in additional well located claims in the
McFaulds camp with Noront as the operator. An airborne
geophysical survey is currently underway and should be
followed up by drilling in the early part of 2008.
This whole McFauld play could be very explosive as
the results from the Noront Eagle One discovery are
being compared to the Voisey Bay discovery in the
90’s although with much richer grades.
Cortez Township Uranium Project
Hawk Uranium has initiated a helicopter-borne radiometric,
magnetic and VLF-EM geophysical survey
over the optioned Cortez Township Uranium Project
in the Elliot Lake area of Northern Ontario. Preliminary
results indicate that four targets will require
follow up ground surveys with drilling likely to follow
in the late spring. Final interpretation and results
from the survey should be available shortly.
Charlebois Lake Area
The company recently announced that it has entered
into two agreements to acquire options over a total of
nine mining claims in the Charlebois Lake Area of the
Northern Mining District, Saskatchewan. The 9
claims cover approximately 4,254 hectares. The
region in which the claims are located has been explored
by a number of other uranium exploration
companies since the early 1950s. The claims cover at
least 11 of the known uranium showings identified in
earlier programs. Previous reports indicate that there
is potential that significant quantities of low grade
uranium may be found in the area. Tests of some
samples from the area by the University of Saskatchewan
indicate \"excellent recovery of uranium values
and good milling characteristics\".
Holdsworth Property
No work has been done on the Holdsworth Property
by the Company apart from the collection of a few
samples and some test milling of the same at a gold
mine in Ontario. Hawk intends to carry out a geophysical
survey over the sulphide zone with possible
follow up diamond drilling or joint venture as well as
further testing of the near surface oxide zones where
prior results yielded grades in the 0.09 to 0.15
ounces per ton range.

until 2030. The overwhelming consensus for an alternative
is nuclear power, which is efficient, practical,
and clean. So far, the implementation of nuclear
power plants has reduced global carbon dioxide emissions
by 1.6 million tons and prevented 90,000 tons
of heavy metals from being released into the earth\'s
atmosphere.
Nuclear energy supplies 16% of the world\'s powers –
441 power plants in 36 countries depend on uranium
and those numbers are destined to increase as fossil
fuels are phased out. Today, there are 104 nuclear
power plants that are fully licensed by the U.S. Nuclear
Regulatory Commission to operate in the
United States. Fifteen have had their licenses extended
from 40 years to 60 years, and there are more
than 20 proposed nuclear facilities currently undergoing
regulatory review. Federal and state governments
have also passed energy legislation that includes
special tax and loan incentives to encourage
nuclear reactor development in the U.S. The search
for a viable fuel source to replace coal, oil, and natural
gas has suddenly reached a new level of urgency.
The current uranium bull market has seen it all: land
rushes, promises of immense wealth, millions of
dollars poured into drill programs, and a uranium
spot price that has galvanized the investment community
by smashing through $130/pound. In the last
fifty years uranium has become one of the world\'s
most important energy minerals.
Uranium prices reached an all-time low in 2001 at
US$7/lb, but have since rebounded strongly. The
spot price peaked in June at a record $138 per
pound, dropped rapidly during August, languished
over the month of September—closing that month at
$75 per pound, primarily due to the sell-off of inventory
by several cash-motivated sellers. The price
gained momentum throughout October as news of
production shortfalls from several sources prompted
sellers to withdraw from the market

Die TSX Venture Exchange stimmte der Dokumentation bezüglich eines Optionsabkommens vom 19. November 2007 zwischen Hawk Uranium Inc. und Noront Resources Ltd. zu. Gemäß dem Abkommen hat das Unternehmen die Option auf den Erwerb einer 50%-Beteiligung an zehn Bergbau-Claims im Gebiet des McFaulds Lake, James Bay Lowlands, Ontario. Diese zehn Bergbau-Claims umfassen insgesamt 160 Claim-Einheiten.
Als Gegenleistung muss das Unternehmen an den Optioner 400.000 Stammaktien emittieren, innerhalb von drei Jahren Arbeitsausgaben von insgesamt $ 3,5 Millionen tätigen und bis 19. November 2009 weitere Zahlungen von $ 400.000 an den Optioner leisten. Der Optioner kann entscheiden, ob die Zahlung von $ 400.000 in bar oder über eine Emission von 800.000 Stammaktien erfolgt.

Hawk Acquires Claims Adjacent to Past Uranium Producer in Athabasca Basin

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 20, 2008) - Hawk Uranium Inc. (TSX VENTURE:HUI - News; "Hawk") is pleased to announce that it has filed documents with the Government of Saskatchewan to complete its acquisition by staking of more than 13,000 hectares of ground in five (5) blocks adjacent to and on strike with the Cluff Lake Uranium Mine. Hawk will hold a 100% interest in these properties.
The Cluff Lake Uranium Mine previously produced approximately 62.5 million pounds of yellowcake from the mine which, when in operation, had an average producing grade of approximately 22lbs/ton. The claims staked by Hawk cover ground that lies in the Carswell Impact Structure and is within the Athabasca Basin.
One block totalling in excess of 2,100 hectares is immediately contiguous to and forms a common western boundary with the Cluff Lake Uranium Mine site. Previous operators have outlined numerous airborne geotem conductors within the claim blocks acquired by Hawk.
The Athabasca Basin has been the world's most important uranium producing area, accounting for more than 30% of global primary uranium supply. Since 1968, eighteen (18) deposits containing approximately 1.5 billion pounds U3O8 have been inventoried in the area, including the McArthur River Mine, which contains 419 million pounds of uranium grading 24.72% U3O8. Other major uranium deposits in the Athabasca Basin are the Rabbit Lake and Key Lake deposits.
There is strong evidence that impact structures are prime locations for a variety of mineral occurrences. Hawk's management believes that this factor, coupled with the favourable uranium geology of the Athabasca Basin, will help cause these claims to develop into a significant property acquisition for Hawk.

Dies haben wir zum Anlass genommen um mit dem Unternehmenslenker und CEO Vance White von HAWK URANIUM durchzuführen.

HAWK URANIUM verfügt über viele interessante Projekte. Vor einigen Wochen erwarben Sie auch die Option auf ein Projekt von NORONT RESOURCES. Worauf liegt das Hauptaugenmerk Ihres Unternehmens? Auf Uran, auf Basismetallen oder auf beiden? Und welche Grundstücke sind die bedeutendsten Explorationsziele in den kommenden zwölf Monaten?
Vance White: Hawk Uranium ist eine kleine Mineralexplorationsfirma mit einem Portfolio an Projekten, die zumeist in Zusammenhang mit Uran stehen. In der Vergangenheit hatten wir in diesem Portfolio jedoch auch Edel- und Basismetallprojekte und wir ziehen diese Möglichkeiten auch weiterhin in Betracht.
Hat das Managementteam von HAWK URANIUM ein besonderes Verhältnis zum Management von NORONT RESOURCES oder MacDonald Mines?
Vance White: Wir haben eine langjährige Partnerschaft mit den Leitern von Noront und MacDonald. Beide Unternehmen verfügen über hervorragende Managementteams und Explorationspersonal.
Sie sind der CEO des Unternehmens. Welche Erfahrungen bringen Sie in Hawk Uranium ein? Wer sind die anderen Mitglieder des Boards und welches Know-how bringen die anderen Direktoren in das Unternehmen ein?
Vance White: Ich bin bereits seit über 30 Jahren in der Mineralbranche tätig zu Beginn bei der Dickson Group of Companies, einem Goldproduzenten im Red Lake Camp, der Anfang der Neunzigerjahre von GoldCorp übernommen wurde. Ich war auch einer der Gründer von AfriOre, die Anfang 2007 von Lonmin übernommen wurden. Zuletzt konzentrierte ich mich auf meine Tätigkeiten bei Hawk Uranium (ehemals Hawk Precious Minerals Inc.) und bei Wits Basin Precious Minerals Inc., einem amerikanischen Explorationsunternehmen, dessen Chairman ich bin.
Walter Brooks ist Vice-President, Corporate Development und Director des Unternehmens. Er ist seit über 15 Jahren ein selbständiger Berater von Bodenschatzunternehmen und war in dieser Zeit bereits bei zahlreichen kleineren Ressourcenunternehmen im Board of Directors.
Michael C. Newbury fungiert seit Dezember 2004 als Director des Unternehmens. Er ist ein professioneller Techniker, Banker und Projektfinanzierungsspezialist mit einer langjährigen Erfahrung in den Bereichen Betrieb, Finanzierung und Evaluierung von Bodenschatzprojekten vor allem von Bergbauprojekten. Vor einigen Wochen haben wir einige Repräsentanten von IBK Capital getroffen, die uns einen sehr guten Überblick über das gesamte Gebiet in der Nähe von NORONT RESOURCES und dessen Basismetallfund gegeben haben. Der "Ring of Fire" kommt nun in seine heiße Phase und Sie sind Teil dieses Gebietes und direkter Partner von NORONT RESOURCES. Was können Sie uns über das Potenzial dieses Gebietes sagen?
Vance White: Ich bin der Ansicht, dass sich die Entdeckung von Noront noch als sehr bedeutend herausstellen wird und dass das Gebiet McFaulds ein hervorragendes neues Bergbaugebiet wird. All diese Gebiete werden in den kommenden Jahren weiterentwickelt werden. Man darf nicht vergessen, dass diese Region im Norden von Ontario bisher kaum erkundet wurde und dass angesichts der fortschrittlichen geophysikalischen Techniken und der modernen Ausrüstung eine Reihe von neuen Entdeckungen gemacht werden könnten. Durch die Errichtung der Straße zur Diamantmine DeBeers Victory wird der Zugang zu diesem Gebiet viel einfacher werden.
NORONT RESOURCES ist der Leiter des JV-Projektes. Welche Pläne gibt es für das Projekt in den kommenden 6-12 Monaten?
Vance White: Auf den Claims steht eine Airborne-Untersuchung kurz vor dem Abschluss; die Auswertung erwarten wir in den ersten Wochen des Jahres. Die Ziele, die im Rahmen dieser Airborne-Untersuchung identifiziert wurden, werden anschließend im ersten Quartal 2008 Bodenuntersuchungen und Bohrungen unterzogen.
Haben NORONT RESOURCES oder andere Unternehmen auf diesem Projekt jemals zuvor Explorationsarbeiten durchgeführt?
Vance White: Meines Wissens nach wurden auf dieser Claim-Gruppe bisher keine Explorationsarbeiten durchgeführt.
Ihr Unternehmen besitzt auch zahlreiche Uranprojekte. In den vergangenen sechs Monaten haben die meisten kleineren Unternehmen 50% oder mehr ihres Aktienwertes verloren. Welche Entwicklung beim Uranpreis erwarten Sie und wie sehen Sie die gesamte Branche in den kommenden fünf Jahren?
Vance White: Die steigende Zahl an Kernkraftwerken, die auf globaler Ebene zugelassen werden; die enorme Nachfrage nach Stromerzeugungskapazität; die steigende öffentliche Nachfrage nach geringeren Treibhausgasemissionen; der Mangel an neuen Uranexplorationen und/oder -entdeckungen; die Probleme bei der überfluteten Mine von Cameco in Saskatchewan; der Ölpreis im Bereich von US$ 100 pro Barrel Tendenz steigend; die Tatsache, dass der steigende Uranpreis nur geringe Auswirkungen auf den Endpreis für den Konsumenten hat... all das wird meiner Meinung nach kurz- bis mittelfristig zu viel höheren Uranpreisen beitragen und als Folge wird das Investitionskapital wieder in kleinere und mittlere Uranunternehmen zurückfließen.
Sie haben eine Finanzierung mit IBK Capital arrangiert und abgeschlossen. Über wie viel Geld verfügt HAWK URANIUM im Moment und wie hoch sind die durchschnittlichen monatlichen Explorationsausgaben?
Vance White: Wir haben zurzeit etwa CDN$ 3,5 Millionen in bar und CDN$ 1 Million in marktfähigen Wertpapieren. Die Burn-Rate unserer Exploration wird von Monat zu Monat unterschiedlich sein, im Moment beträgt das Budget jedoch $ 1,75 Millionen für die kommenden zwölf Monate.
Wer sind im Moment die Hauptaktionäre des Unternehmens und glauben Sie persönlich, dass Ihre Aktie zurzeit unter ihrem fairen Wert liegt?
Vance White: Zu den Hauptaktionären des Unternehmens zählen ich, meine Familie und eine Reihe von anderen großen Investoren. Ich bin der Ansicht, dass das Unternehmen angesichts seiner Projekte und deren Potenzial mit einer derzeitigen Marktkapitalisierung von $ 15 Millionen unter seinem Wert liegt. Unsere Aufgabe besteht nun darin, dieses Potenzial zu nutzen und Gewinne für unsere Aktionäre zu erwirtschaften.
Auf dem kanadischen Markt gibt es Tausende Explorationsunternehmen. Sagen Sie uns bitte, warum Investoren ausgerechnet in HAWK URANIUM investieren sollten.

Ein interessanter Nachbar von NORONT RESOURCES ist HAWK URANIUM, denen es gelungen ist, ein direktes Joint Venture mit NORONT RESOURCES abzuschließen. Dies haben wir zum Anlass genommen um mit dem Unternehmenslenker und CEO Vance White von HAWK URANIUM durchzuführen.
Guten Tag Vance. Vielen Dank, dass Sie sich Zeit genommen haben, um mit uns über Ihr Unternehmen HAWK URANIUM sowie über Ihre Zukunftspläne zu sprechen.
HAWK URANIUM verfügt über viele interessante Projekte. Vor einigen Wochen erwarben Sie auch die Option auf ein Projekt von NORONT RESOURCES. Worauf liegt das Hauptaugenmerk Ihres Unternehmens? Auf Uran, auf Basismetallen oder auf beiden? Und welche Grundstücke sind die bedeutendsten Explorationsziele in den kommenden zwölf Monaten?
Vance White: Hawk Uranium ist eine kleine Mineralexplorationsfirma mit einem Portfolio an Projekten, die zumeist in Zusammenhang mit Uran stehen. In der Vergangenheit hatten wir in diesem Portfolio jedoch auch Edel- und Basismetallprojekte und wir ziehen diese Möglichkeiten auch weiterhin in Betracht.
Hat das Managementteam von HAWK URANIUM ein besonderes Verhältnis zum Management von NORONT RESOURCES oder MacDonald Mines?
Vance White: Wir haben eine langjährige Partnerschaft mit den Leitern von Noront und MacDonald. Beide Unternehmen verfügen über hervorragende Managementteams und Explorationspersonal.
Sie sind der CEO des Unternehmens. Welche Erfahrungen bringen Sie in Hawk Uranium ein? Wer sind die anderen Mitglieder des Boards und welches Know-how bringen die anderen Direktoren in das Unternehmen ein?
Vance White: Ich bin bereits seit über 30 Jahren in der Mineralbranche tätig zu Beginn bei der Dickson Group of Companies, einem Goldproduzenten im Red Lake Camp, der Anfang der Neunzigerjahre von GoldCorp übernommen wurde. Ich war auch einer der Gründer von AfriOre, die Anfang 2007 von Lonmin übernommen wurden. Zuletzt konzentrierte ich mich auf meine Tätigkeiten bei Hawk Uranium (ehemals Hawk Precious Minerals Inc.) und bei Wits Basin Precious Minerals Inc., einem amerikanischen Explorationsunternehmen, dessen Chairman ich bin.
Walter Brooks ist Vice-President, Corporate Development und Director des Unternehmens. Er ist seit über 15 Jahren ein selbständiger Berater von Bodenschatzunternehmen und war in dieser Zeit bereits bei zahlreichen kleineren Ressourcenunternehmen im Board of Directors.
Michael C. Newbury fungiert seit Dezember 2004 als Director des Unternehmens. Er ist ein professioneller Techniker, Banker und Projektfinanzierungsspezialist mit einer langjährigen Erfahrung in den Bereichen Betrieb, Finanzierung und Evaluierung von Bodenschatzprojekten vor allem von Bergbauprojekten. Michael Newbury fungiert seit Mai 2003 als President, CEO und Director von Renforth Resources Inc., zwischen September 2005 und März 2007 von Richview Resources Inc. und zwischen Mai 1998 und Mai 2005 von KWG Resources Inc. Zwischen 1995 und 2002 fungierte er auch als Senior Vice-President und Director von Endeavour Financial, einem Investment-Banking-Unternehmen, dessen Hauptaugenmerk auf der Bodenschatzbranche liegt. Seit vier Jahren ist er als unabhängiger Berater tätig. Er ist zudem Director einer Reihe von kleineren Ressourcenunternehmen.
C. Nigel Lees wurde im März 2007 ein Director des Unternehmens. Er fungiert seit 2003 als President, Chief Executive Officer und Director von Sage Gold Inc., einem Mineralexplorations- und Erschließungsunternehmen, das an der TSX Venture Exchange notiert ist. Er ist Gründer und ehemaliger Director von TVX Gold Inc., einem bedeutenden Goldproduzenten in Nord- und Südamerika, der an der TSX und der New York Stock Exchange notiert war. TVX Gold Inc. fusionierte später mit Kinross Gold Corporation. Zwischen Mai 1994 und Dezember 2003 war C. Nigel Lees President und Chief Executive Officer von Sunblush Technologies Corporation, einem Verpackungsunternehmen aus Toronto, Ontario, mit Niederlassungen im Vereinigten Königreich, in den USA und in Costa Rica. Zurzeit ist er Mitglied des Board of Directors von Yamana Gold Inc., einem Unternehmen, das an der TSX, an der New York Stock Exchange und AIM notiert ist, sowie von URSA Major Minerals Incorporated, einem Unternehmen, das an der TSX Venture Exchange notiert ist. Er wurde im Juni 2005 bzw. im Juni 2000 Mitglied dieser Boards.
Vor einigen Wochen haben wir einige Repräsentanten von IBK Capital getroffen, die uns einen sehr guten Überblick über das gesamte Gebiet in der Nähe von NORONT RESOURCES und dessen Basismetallfund gegeben haben. Der "Ring of Fire" kommt nun in seine heiße Phase und Sie sind Teil dieses Gebietes und direkter Partner von NORONT RESOURCES. Was können Sie uns über das Potenzial dieses Gebietes sagen?
Vance White: Ich bin der Ansicht, dass sich die Entdeckung von Noront noch als sehr bedeutend herausstellen wird und dass das Gebiet McFaulds ein hervorragendes neues Bergbaugebiet wird. All diese Gebiete werden in den kommenden Jahren weiterentwickelt werden. Man darf nicht vergessen, dass diese Region im Norden von Ontario bisher kaum erkundet wurde und dass angesichts der fortschrittlichen geophysikalischen Techniken und der modernen Ausrüstung eine Reihe von neuen Entdeckungen gemacht werden könnten. Durch die Errichtung der Straße zur Diamantmine DeBeers Victory wird der Zugang zu diesem Gebiet viel einfacher werden.
NORONT RESOURCES ist der Leiter des JV-Projektes. Welche Pläne gibt es für das Projekt in den kommenden 6-12 Monaten?
Vance White: Auf den Claims steht eine Airborne-Untersuchung kurz vor dem Abschluss; die Auswertung erwarten wir in den ersten Wochen des Jahres. Die Ziele, die im Rahmen dieser Airborne-Untersuchung identifiziert wurden, werden anschließend im ersten Quartal 2008 Bodenuntersuchungen und Bohrungen unterzogen.
Haben NORONT RESOURCES oder andere Unternehmen auf diesem Projekt jemals zuvor Explorationsarbeiten durchgeführt?
Vance White: Meines Wissens nach wurden auf dieser Claim-Gruppe bisher keine Explorationsarbeiten durchgeführt.
Ihr Unternehmen besitzt auch zahlreiche Uranprojekte. In den vergangenen sechs Monaten haben die meisten kleineren Unternehmen 50% oder mehr ihres Aktienwertes verloren. Welche Entwicklung beim Uranpreis erwarten Sie und wie sehen Sie die gesamte Branche in den kommenden fünf Jahren?
Vance White: Die steigende Zahl an Kernkraftwerken, die auf globaler Ebene zugelassen werden; die enorme Nachfrage nach Stromerzeugungskapazität; die steigende öffentliche Nachfrage nach geringeren Treibhausgasemissionen; der Mangel an neuen Uranexplorationen und/oder -entdeckungen; die Probleme bei der überfluteten Mine von Cameco in Saskatchewan; der Ölpreis im Bereich von US$ 100 pro Barrel Tendenz steigend; die Tatsache, dass der steigende Uranpreis nur geringe Auswirkungen auf den Endpreis für den Konsumenten hat... all das wird meiner Meinung nach kurz- bis mittelfristig zu viel höheren Uranpreisen beitragen und als Folge wird das Investitionskapital wieder in kleinere und mittlere Uranunternehmen zurückfließen.
Sie haben eine Finanzierung mit IBK Capital arrangiert und abgeschlossen. Über wie viel Geld verfügt HAWK URANIUM im Moment und wie hoch sind die durchschnittlichen monatlichen Explorationsausgaben?
Vance White: Wir haben zurzeit etwa CDN$ 3,5 Millionen in bar und CDN$ 1 Million in marktfähigen Wertpapieren. Die Burn-Rate unserer Exploration wird von Monat zu Monat unterschiedlich sein, im Moment beträgt das Budget jedoch $ 1,75 Millionen für die kommenden zwölf Monate.
Wer sind im Moment die Hauptaktionäre des Unternehmens und glauben Sie persönlich, dass Ihre Aktie zurzeit unter ihrem fairen Wert liegt?
Vance White: Zu den Hauptaktionären des Unternehmens zählen ich, meine Familie und eine Reihe von anderen großen Investoren. Ich bin der Ansicht, dass das Unternehmen angesichts seiner Projekte und deren Potenzial mit einer derzeitigen Marktkapitalisierung von $ 15 Millionen unter seinem Wert liegt. Unsere Aufgabe besteht nun darin, dieses Potenzial zu nutzen und Gewinne für unsere Aktionäre zu erwirtschaften.
Auf dem kanadischen Markt gibt es Tausende Explorationsunternehmen. Sagen Sie uns bitte, warum Investoren ausgerechnet in HAWK URANIUM investieren sollten.
Vance White: Wir sind kapitalkräftig, mit einem starken finanziellen Rückhalt, einem starken Board of Directors, einem guten technischen Personal, hervorragenden Verbindungen zur internationalen Mineralbranche und wir sind in der Lage, uns sehr schnell und flexibel den Gegebenheiten anzupassen. Das wichtigste aber ist unser starkes Portfolio an äußerst guten Projekten.

hm, wenn ich nur wüsste ob ich jetzt schon einsteigen soll oder ob der kurs nochmal auf 0,125 runtergeht? wann seid ihr eingestiegen? ich kann bei meinem broker leider nur in fr. traden.

Auch der Shareprice von derzeit 0,26 liegt noch deutlich unter dem letzten PP vom 6. November 07 von 0,30.
Und dazwischen hat Hawk einiges auf die Beine gestellt.
Von den 30 Ring-of-Fire-Area-Playern kann man HUI sehrwohl in die Shortlist aufnehmen. Ich mache das auch deshalb gerne, weil HUI kein One-trick-pony ist.

(TSX VENTURE: NOT - News; Noront) das Explorationsfeldprogramm 2008 auf dem 50:50-Jointventure-Grunstück im Ring of Fire, im Gebiet McFaulds Lake im Nordosten von Ontario, begonnen hat.
Noront informierte Hawk über den Abschluss einer Helikopter-AeroTEM- sowie einer geophysikalischen Magnetuntersuchung auf 345 Linienkilometern, die von Aeroquest International Ltd. in Abständen von 100 m auf dem Jointventure-Grundstück durchgeführt wurde, und über das Eintreffen der vorläufigen Interpretation von Scott Hogg & Associates Ltd.
Ein Programm zur Integrierung von über 132 Linienkilometern wurde auf einer Reihe von vorrangigen geophysikalischen Zielen begonnen. Im Anschluss daran folgt eine Reihe von geophysikalischen Bodenuntersuchungen, einschließlich HLEM-Max-Min-, magnetische und VLF-Boden- sowie Gravitätsuntersuchungen, um die geophysikalischen Airborne-Ziele besser beschreiben zu können.
