LHS Opens New Branch Office in New Delhi, India
BusinessWire
Tuesday June 8 4:26pm
ATLANTA/FRANKFURT/NEW DELHI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 8, 1999--
Aggressive market strategy to capture boom in mobile
subscriber growth Over 40 percent market share in India
held by LHS
LHS Group Inc. (Nasdaq: LHSG)(Neuer Markt: LHI) announced today the
establishment of a new branch office in India. Located in New Delhi, the new office is a
branch of LHS Asia Pacific, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
"The India branch office will focus on servicing existing clients and generating new
business in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal," states Vivek Malhan, LHS business
development manager. "We want to move closer to and improve our service for
customers in this region, as well as expanding on our existing customer base."
More than 35 percent of Indian mobile subscribers are currently processed on LHS`
customer care and billing software, BSCS (Business Support & Control System). With
14 licenses sold to six operators, LHS has more than 40 percent of the market share for
Billing and Customer Care solutions implemented in India.
Telecommunication has been declared a critical infrastructure segment by most of the
countries in this region and will be covered by LHS` New Delhi office. Many of the
internationally recognized names in the telecom sector are represented in the region,
including France Telecom, Airtouch, US West, Alcatel, Shiniwatra of Thailand, and
Bezeq of Israel, as well as the major switch vendors.
"Currently there are close to a million subscribers in the Indian mobile market, with all
indicators pointing to an impending boom in the cellular subscriber growth. It is
forecasted to evolve at seven to twelve per cent in the next few years. With the
advance of privatization in telecommunications in the region covered by the new LHS
office, significant opportunities are opening up in both the wireline and wireless
segments. LHS will initially concentrate on providing support services from the Indian
office and gradually move towards building a resource pool for the whole sub-continent,"
comments LHS` Vivek Malhan.

Hallo reality,
