Gone with the wind.
Tut weh, aber meine 600 PSINET Aktien müßten doch eine gute Tapete abgeben..oder ??

... PSINet Chairman and CEO Bill Schrader sent a rambling e-mail to employees recently, in which he raised the possibility of Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the first time.
Schrader also implored employees to "focus on your job, forget about the stock market entirely, collect money, [and] stop spending it."
At some points, the enigmatic Schrader seems to have lost touch with reality. The following passage, for example, does not sound like it comes from the CEO of a firm on the verge of bankruptcy.
"While we seldom rest and feel satisfied with ourselves," he writes, "our skills and resiliency during the recent turmoil has positioned us at our highest operating efficiency ever ... . We are the oldest, one of the largest, and, in my opinion, the most powerful commercial Internet firm in the world."
Even when Schrader acknowledges PSINet`s (http://www.psi.com) tough road ahead, he seeks to lay the blame for the firm`s demise anywhere but at its own doorstep.
"Despite ... our world-class physical and intangible assets and employees, both internal requirements and external forces have combined to financially destabilize our company," he writes. "Since our beginning in 1999, we have followed the path that was expected by the marketplace ... . The external forces of the venture capital community and Wall Street demanded high revenue and market share growth rates rather than profitability and we delivered. Profits and cash in our sector became important to Wall Street beginning only in mid-2000."
I seem to recall from Econ 101 that profits and cash are pretty important aspects of running a business, regardless of Wall Street`s mood of the moment. For Schrader to lay the blame for PSINet`s troubles on VCs and analysts strikes me as unfair and misleading.

Scientific studies have indicated that high voltage, server farm hosting centers conduct electical waves which sap human intelligence, tranfering such intelligence into the net. "Hosting centers act as human brain vampires," said Jim Tagert, from Rockford neurological research enterprises.
This new discovery is now part a massive tort and product liability case filed by PSINET against the constructors of its now delapitadated hosting empire. "You see having the best hosting centers and network worked severely against our managment competence. Our managment team, including David Kunkel, Bill Shrader, and Pete Willis was systematically stupified by spending so much time in our hosting facilities, where the net extracted 30-45% of their cognitive, logic, and reasoning functions," said Kathleen Horn, general counsel PSINET.
"I fear something much more sinister," said Jim Tagert, "I fear those facilites exacted undo influence of PSINET`S top brass managment in order to induce them in lavish CAPEX spending on the newtork and facilities themselves. Its as if the network became a gold digging, brain draining whore that cyberfucked its way into gaining more property and OC-12 upgrades."
Ralph Nader, consumer advocate worries of even greater consequences adding, "I fear the net may simply take over humanity, and then man will simply serve machine."
President Bush has declined to comment on these findings, but added he would push forward to increase the US`s $ 324 Billion dollar defense budget while slashing taxes. Some conspiracy buffs have theorized that if the Department of Defense wires itself up to PSINET hosting centers, the defense budget will triple in the near future bankrupting the US government, much like PSINET today.
Bush brushed aside such concerns noting how Russia had increased its defense spending from $54 Billion to $56 Billion dollars while China Boosted spending all the way up to $39.5 Billion dollars. "Those two super powers," said Bush, "are catching up to us too fast. Combined those two spend almost 30% of what we do, and I feel it impreative we outspend them by more than 70%."
This topic and more is slated to be discussed in more detail on ABC nightline, on Friday, March 24.
