Klangverhunzer kriegen, was sie verdienen.

      Indirekte schlechte Nachrichten:

SANTA ANA, Calif., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SRS Labs, Inc. (Nasdaq: SRSL - News), a leading provider of innovative audio, voice and ASIC technology solutions, announced that it has signed its first license agreement with Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd (Panasonic). SRS Labs` patented TruSurround technology, the established standard for the virtualization of 5.1 surround sound, will be featured in Panasonic`s latest DVD players and DVD combo units. SRS Labs will receive licensing royalties for products that are shipped with TruSurround. As part of SRS Labs` continuing platform strategy to make its technologies available on a broad range of semiconductor platforms, the company has worked with ST Microelectronics to implement TruSurround on its Omega DVD decoder chip for these Panasonic products.

TruSurround is the established standard for the virtualization of 5.1 surround sound over two-speaker systems and has been featured in over 10 million consumer hardware products globally including products made by Funai Electric, Hughes Network Systems, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Sony, Thomson Consumer Electronics, Toshiba Corporation and Pioneer. TruSurround delivers an immersive home-theater surround sound experience to DVD playback systems that are not connected to 5.1 home theater speaker systems. TruSurround is applicable to DVD players, televisions, set top boxes, video game consoles and AV surround sound receivers. To hear an online demonstration of TruSurround, visit http://www.srslabs.com/LicensingTechMultichannel.asp#TS .

Viel wichtiger erscheint mir, was die "Neuerwerbung" bzg.

      Press Release
      SOURCE: LSI Logic Corporation
SCM Microsystems Selects MPEG-2 Codec From LSI Logic for Dazzle(TM) DVD Creation Station
LSI Logic DVxcel(TM) Device Provides DVD Quality to SCM`s USB Solution For Capturing, Editing and Sharing Stills and Full Motion Video on a PC
MILPITAS, Calif., Aug. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE: LSI - News) today announced that SCM Microsystems (Nasdaq: SCMM; Neuer Markt: SMY), maker of the award-winning Dazzle(TM) brand of products for creating and sharing digital video, has chosen the LSI Logic DVxcel(TM) MPEG-2 codec as a key component for its DVD Creation Station 200, DCS 200. The DCS 200 is the only product available today that allows consumers to capture DVD-quality video from any camcorder, VCR or TV, as well as read photo and other files from all types of flash card media. Using the LSI Logic DVxcel single-chip device, the DCS 200 can create Hollywood-style DVD content by converting video to high-quality MPEG-1 or MPEG-2, in real time, for playback on a TV or VCR for recording, via video streaming over USB.

"The LSI Logic DVxcel architecture enables the DCS 200 to convert any analog video source to DVD-quality MPEG digital files in real time," said Dirk Peters, director of marketing for SCM Microsystems` Digital Media and Video division. "LSI Logic`s advanced technology makes it quick and easy for users to convert their video to a digital format so they can customize their videos and photos, and create DVDs they are proud to share with friends and family."

Through its acquisition of C-Cube Microsystems, LSI Logic is the recognized leader in MPEG-2 codec solutions and produced the industry`s first codec to enable cost-effective consumer recordable products. DVxcel is a high-quality digital video processing solution that supports the encoding and decoding of MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, which is key for advanced video editing and recording devices. In addition, DVxcel has been utilized by major consumer electronics manufacturers for stand-alone DVD recorders.

"We`re enabling DVD-quality recording in the PC space by bringing DVxcel, a well-established and easy-to-use technology, to the consumer products market," said Bob Saffari, senior director of advanced video products marketing, LSI Logic. "We are delighted SCM has chosen our codec technology for their innovative DVD creation station."

The market for capturing, editing, archiving and sharing video content on the PC is growing rapidly. Factors fueling demand include the rapid consumer adoption of digital video cameras and the CD and DVD read/write capabilities emerging within the PC industry. DVD players were the fastest selling consumer products in 2001, according to industry watchers. And DVD recorders are also set to quickly gain popularity, growing from $760 million in sales in 2002 to $5.3 billion in sales in 2006, according to market research firm iSuppli Corporation.

      Name: Samsung LT40A13W
      Category: AV
      Price: 998,000 yen
      Release date in Japan: now

The Gist: Well, they said it couldn`t be done, or at least not so
soon, and they were wrong. Don`t you just hate "they"? Don`t you think
"they" should just go and get a life? Ahem, anyhow, despite many
people saying that LCD screens are only good for anything under 36
inches or so, Samsung has waded in to prove everyone wrong with the
rather stunning-looking LT40A13W. Not quite as stunning as the slinky,
Lycra-clad hot babe standing right next to it on show day, of course,
but a good attempt all the same. The LT40A13W uses 2,950,000 pixels to
kick out a crisp and clear 1280x768 dot high vision display and,
unsurprisingly, is laying claim to being the world`s largest LCD
television. No argument here. A mere tenth of the width of a regular,
36-inch CRT television, the new LCD panel has D4 digital connections
where it matters and `virtual surround` circuitry for that
super-simulated 360-degree surround sound. It only weighs 21.5 kg, so
you can hang it up on the wall so long as you then nip next door and
pile all your neighbor`s furniture up against the other side in a sort
of cross-bracing position, then go back into your own apartment and
settle in to watch your TV program, or a DVD, or a video. Or two TV
channels at the same time, come to that, because this 40-incher has
two integral TV tuners and a `double screen` capability so you and
your partner can both get a full 20 inches at the same time. Um,
      moving on...did I mention it was wide-screen?

Zoran Corp. Wins Sony DVD Chip Deal -Analyst
By Donna Fuscaldo, Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Sony Corp. (NYSE:SNE - News) has begun using Zoran Corp.`s Vaddis V chip in its DVD recorder selling in Japan, Pacific Growth Equities analyst Brian Alger said Friday. ADVERTISEMENT

Calling the design win the "holy grail" for Zoran, Alger said the Sony win extends the Santa Clara, Calif., chip maker`s penetration in the Japanese DVD recorder market, where it counts Toshiba Corp., Sharp Corp. and Pioneer Corp. (NYSE:PIO - News) as customers.

While Alger said he wouldn`t normally issue a research note highlighting a single product with a single customer, he said that since it is Sony, it was warranted.

"For the past several years, Sony has been utilizing technology developed in- house. As the global market leader with greater than 20% share, Sony has always been the big account everyone wanted to win," wrote Alger. "Zoran`s inclusion in Sony`s leading edged product, the RDR-A11, is believed to be a positive indication of better things to come."

However, Alger said he doesn`t expect substantial DVD recorder shipments in 2002, nor does he expect the new relationship with Sony to have a material impact on Zoran`s revenue this year. Still, he said that given further penetration of Zoran`s chips within Sony, sales could be "significant" and present upside to his 2003 earnings estimates.

Alger, who rates Zoran an overweight, his firm`s highest rating, expects the company to earn $1.10 a share in 2003. Alger doesn`t own shares of Zoran nor does his firm provide investment banking activities for the company.

Officials at Zoran and Sony weren`t immediately available to comment.

Recently shares of Zoran were up 8.1%, or $1.21, to $16.12, on volume of 1.4 million. Average daily volume is 1.4 million.
