Translation to letter sent to Mr. McGregor
      16 September, 2002

      Mr Jock McGregor
      Denver-Colorado

      Dear Sir:

The one that signs this letter was your laborer and one of the first ones in your Amayapampa Mines. I was of the beginners of the Amayapampa Project and been at work from the 23 March of 1995. I was privileged to know you personally when you came to Amayapampa to work.

For more reference about me I want to tell you that I am a native of the area and the owner of the agricultural surface of the area near your mining property which is why I am the first authority over the people of Amayapampa village. I want also to let you know that I have been studying for some time and that I have been in the former Soviet Union for which reasons later I had aggravated problems with one of your managers of the mine.

The next thing you must know is what happened during the quarrels on December of 1996, the butchery in the mines of yours when nine persons died and many were hurt, events were well known in Bolivia and foreign countries. I was the only one person who stood to take care and keep safe the camp and the property and various belongings of the company with the danger of being killed. Thank God I was spared of being killed.

Afterwards, for being on the side of the company to develop the works of Amayapampa I was threatened to be killed by my own companions, it was too hard to make them understand my position.

Notwithstanding when the new manager came to the Amayapampa mines, a German citizen by the name of Klaus Kinz, I didn’t have better luck instead my situation got worse.

This fellow with an unknown past and a totally unknown curriculum of whom it is said he was a retired military from Germany, who after learning that I had been in the Soviet Union for some reason with his typical neo-nazy German motive, full of hate and prejudice turned my life into a nightmare to kick me out of the company. His neo-nazi pride subjected me to cruel treatment making me do arduous work in difficult places shunned by themselves as were the conditions in Capacirca mine where people are rough, and harder in his treatment towards me in order to reach his objective.

In this manner in every way he could, he managed to put me out, but later realizing what he did, he looked for me and sent me again to Capacirca.

As this was happening your company decided to take a recess in Bolivia. It also decided to offer a living bonus to the miners while the recess lasted. And it was done but when I engaged in the recess I was surprised because I was the only one who didn’t receive the Bonus offered by Klaus Hinz.

I was called to be paid this monthly benefit for one year in vain. Later I realized that because of internal fights for the appointment of the manager position in Bolivia between Klaus Hinz and Romulo Sasamoto, Hinz overlooked and forgot about my working situation and the bonus I was owed.

This is why after living one year without any salary and unable to continue to bear such injustice and pain and specially after not bearing my mother and sister tears and the suffering of all my family I was obliged to sue before legal authorities to ask and demand your company and was instead groundlessly sued back criminally. But by the Justice of God, after fighting this legal battle the judge declared me innocent and with the right to demand my legal labor rights. Therefore as a consequence of this I was entitled through the legal lawsuit to demand the payment for pain and suffering or responsibility 80,000 Bs –or US$ 11,000 for these four years of time that I was submitted to hard and disgraceful life without productive work, on the contrary, they put my family in a desperate situation to the extreme that I had to mortgage my house to defend myself and now I have to pay the debt to my attorney and worse, I had to bear emotional and physical pain and suffering, which is hard to put a price to.

That is why I am trying to get in touch with you personally to find an immediate solution with your help in this painful problem for me and my family.

I wish, please, that you instruct your managers in Bolivia to look for a favorable immediate solution to this problem because they are new and know nothing about his situation.

If I am not heard and this problem is not taken care I will be forced to leave my life and that of my family into your responsibility and to denounce and resort with my claim by sending copies and other measures of pressure seeking justice to the Parliament or Congress in my country, The Human Rights Organization in my country and abroad, Defender of the People etc., denouncing the shattered family life I have and the damage I was caused for not being able to lead a productive and normal life and that I was unable to study English and other languages abroad.

Wanting to get an answer and urgent solution I respectfully say good buy hoping your humanitarian understanding.

Vista Gold Corp. Announces Completion of Acquisition of Newmont Projects

DENVER, Oct 8, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Vista Gold Corp. (Amex: VGZ; Toronto) is pleased to announce that it has completed the acquisition of a 100% interest in two Nevada gold projects, Maverick Springs and Mountain View, from Newmont Mining Corporation (NYSE: NEM; ASX) (Toronto: NMC), as previously announced September 3, 2002.
The Corporation has engaged Snowden Mining Consultants of Vancouver, British Columbia to complete an independent technical study and report in compliance with Canadian National Instrument 43-101, for each of the projects. The technical report will be finalized by the end of the month. Preliminary data indicate that both projects have existing resources and offer excellent potential to add to both the quality and quantity of these resources with additional drilling. Maverick Springs also has significant silver values which will be evaluated.

The Corporation plans an initial 7,000 foot drilling program on the Maverick Springs project scheduled to start mid-October.

Vista Gold Corp. is an international gold mining, development and exploration company based in Littleton Colorado. Its holdings include the Paredones Amarillos project in Mexico; the Hycroft mine, Maverick Springs and Mountain View projects in Nevada; and the Amayapampa project in Bolivia.

Gold Stocks 101 for NEW Investors
Gold investors must first understand that gold mining companies are highly leveraged to the price of gold. Mining companies have very high fixed costs; above these costs, it`s all profit. Here`s a simple example... Many miners have a total production cost (not cash cost) of somewhere around $270/ ounce. When gold is $272, they might have a profit of $2 for every ounce they produce. But with gold at $290, their profit jumps to $20 an ounce (900% increase). This example assumes no "hedging".

You should spend your time looking at the quarterly reports from the gold miners and calculating the vast increase in profits that they will show with a gold price at $300+. For many of the gold miners, profit increases of over 300% will be easily accomplished during this first year of higher gold prices. The smaller gold miners will see the biggest profit increases - they are usually the most leveraged. This whole sector will see profit increases ranging from 100% to 2,000% this year. You will see the PE`s of some of these stocks cut by a factor of ten with the profit increases (assuming no price increase).

Any commentary about gold stocks being expensive is a flat out wrong. You can`t analyze gold stocks without considering where the POG (price of gold) is headed. The Analysts are restrained because they want to slow things down so their firms can get in with large buy orders. If you think my cynicism is misplaced, ask yourself why there have been almost no Analyst upgrades for the miners - even though it`s been the best performing sector for over a year. As a matter of fact, Goldman Sachs downgraded gold (the physical metal), and Placer Dome (PDG), in early January. Meanwhile, sites that report institutional holdings (like the Nasdaq site) show huge institutional buying of gold equities.

Traditionally, the mainstream press has tried to avoid covering the gold sector. When they did cover it, they often presented negative spin by the bullion banks. These banks don`t want gold to go up because most of them are short. But now they are starting to cover gold with more honest insight. Notice how CNBC covers gold in the afternoon, but not on Squawk Box. CNBC is playing nice now, but would quickly slam gold if they could.

It`s also important to understand the potential for dividends. Gold mining companies have a history of paying the highest dividends in history (when their profits are up). The South African miners (GFI, HGMCY, DROOY) pay the highest dividends. Gold Fields (symbol GFI) pays out 50% of their profits in dividends, that fact is documented in their recent quarterly report. GFI could rise from $8 to $30, and then declare a 15% dividend.

It`s also important to understand the market capitalization issue. The total market cap of all gold mining stocks traded on all three U.S. exchanges is only about 80 billion. A single tech company like AOL has a higher market cap. This means is that even small capital inflows into this sector will generate explosive increases in stock prices.

The following websites are excellent resources. Not providing links because some websites reject posts with links. Almost all are dot com, GATA is dot org. I highly recommend reading the GATA messages (Yahoo Groups), it will give you a feel for just how long gold has been held down, and how powerfully it will now go up (read some of the posts from a year or two ago). The Tocqueville website is also great. There are about 7 "Brainstorms" on gold.

"Gold Penny Stocks, what to expect
      Penny Gold Stocks.

This how I observed the Penny Gold Stocks to act back in the 1968 thru 1972 Bull Market and 1977 thru 1980 Gold Bubble. The following is general in nature. Take note that no two cycles are exactly the same so expect times to be different. I think that the crisis that we are about to experience will be much more extreme than 1080.

First stage: Most Penny Stocks were made up of dreams. They all had unproven claims from panned trenched and streambeds that they claimed to have some good finds. Some Venture Capitalist would get sucked in on the good news and were willing to put up hard cash ($1 to $10 million dollars) to prove up the claim (s) in exchange for about 10 to 50% of the company. These stocks sold on the Vancouver, BC, and the Spoken Exchanges for about $0.01 to $0.10.

A common way to invest / gamble in these stocks was to put up equal $$$’s in ten companies that had "Gold or Silver in their names”. The theory was that if just one hit they would break even because the stock would explode up at least ten times their bet.

Second stage: The next stage for Penny stocks is for those that had some proven good hits and their stocks had exploded. More Venture Capital became attracted. They would also sell some shares into the explosion to gain more cash to prove up their RESERVES into PROVEN and PROBABL categories so that they can get permitting to qualify for a loan to build the mine. Their reserves would then become PROVEN COLLATERAL. Their stocks then sold for $0.05 to $1.00.

Third stage: The next stage is when financing is in place and the mine is being constructed and startup mode is about to be in process. It’s normal to have some problems during the startup mode and production not to be up to schedule until the third or fourth quarter. The mine will now start to make some money to payoff its loans and have some earnings left over. The stock now sold for $0.25 to $ 4.00.

Fourth stage: A functioning mine is in place and stages two and three are also in place for a second and third mines. It is now a winner and is becoming an intermediate mine with earnings that are meaningful. Its price will now be $1.00 to $10.00.

This is what happened during the 1977 thru 1880 Gold Bubble?

Stages one and two shot up to $1.00 to $3.00.
Stage three shot up to$3.00 to $9.00.
Stage four shot up to $5.00 to $15.00

This is why I say Reserves are far more important than earnings for Penny Stocks because the investor is anticipating “high earnings” in the future.

I hope this helps to know what to expect during this Gold Bull Bubble.

      Ron."

JP Morgan Begins Canadian-Listed Golds Coverage
      14:46 EST Friday, November 08, 2002
By Scott Anderson.TORONTO (Reuters) - Canadian-listed mid-tier gold miners, whose stocks have recently outperformed gold seniors and easily surpassed broader market indexes, are now being touted as solid investment opportunities with strong potential."As a group, they do offer growth. They offer younger mines with potentially more upside and so they are quite attractive," said John Bridges, a gold mining analyst at JP Morgan in New York, which said on Friday it was initiating coverage on a number of Canadian mid-tier miners.Bridges said he began coverage on Glamis Gold Ltd. with an "overweight" rating; Meridian Gold and Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd. with "neutral" ratings; and Goldcorp Inc. with an "underweight" ranking."If you fast forward to their profitability and their multiples when they get these projects up and running then, while they are probably in large part full in the short term, they do offer opportunity," he said.Bridges noted that as global equities markets have slumped this year, gold stocks have outperformed the broader markets considerably.
While the Toronto Stock Exchange`s main S&P/TSX composite index <.GSPTSE> has slipped 17.2 percent so far this year, its gold index has soared 31.7 percent.Bridges forecasts gold to rise to $335 an ounce by the first quarter of 2003. In New York on Friday, gold was at $322.70.Glamis Gold, to which Bridges awarded his highest rating of the new companies, was up 20 Canadian cents to C$13.95 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Friday afternoon."The stock looks expensive relative to its peers, however, we believe investors include Glamis`s growth projects in their expectations. This growth profile with high-return projects is rare in today`s gold sector. Hence, as management delivers on its growth plans, we expect Glamis to continue to moderately outperform other North American gold stocks," Bridges wrote in his report.
Goldcorp, despite Bridges` unfavorable rating, was up 33 Canadian cents at C$17.33, Agnico-Eagle also climbed 33 Canadian cents to C$19.53 and Meridian Gold jumped 62 Canadian cents to C$28.17.

      COMMENTS FROM JIM SINCLAIR:

This is going to be the toughest call of this entire $300 - $330 sideways movement. The reason why is because, as we enter the $320 - $325 range, there is a knee-jerk reaction in the gold market. The gold market is so used to the arrival of JPM, Lehman, Goldman and Merrill as sellers pounding the market, that gold shares now almost automatically decelerate, as a knee-jerk reaction to gold being at the the $320 -$325 price. At this price, the gold shares` appreciation decelerates and actually stops dead in their tracks.

What the market has failed to realize is that these gold dealers, due to their own liquidity situations, are now no longer the big position takers in gold as they were before. All they have been doing lately is exercising clients` orders. The sellers of gold that have come into gold market at the $320 - $325 area have not been the gold cartel. They have been the local floor traders and speculator computer traders. Again, not the cartel. This is why we have had higher lows as we chop sideways.

I firmly believe the chances of taking out the $330 level to the upside before Christmas is real because the significant enemy of the gold price, the gold cartel, is out of business. They have had their trading capital called back to the parent holding company because of the effects of the credit downgrade on the parent holding companies. When the market wakes up that the enemy is no longer there, no event will be required to take gold above $330. It will simply go there.

Here is how we will determine if gold is going to break out above $330:

Have you wondered how I was able to determine the heads up and buy/sell points in this rally? Well, thanks to RGLD/GG and the use of proprietary measures in the duration period of the chart, the slow stochastic and Williams %R, I have when these leading (action-wise) gold shares entered an oversold condition, began to look for the buy and overbought for the sell. Now as gold approaches $330, if the gold shares (which historically know more about gold than gold does) are not into the overbought condition that have been so accurate, we will assume $330 is going to breach and NOT SELL our 1/3.

This means we are remaining disciplined, but being superbly focused. I will, as we near this situation, be doing daily technical reviews. I consider the market at this time more critically positive than ever before in this 11-month rally. The magnificently symmetric, three-year golden tea cup formation* would break to the upside out of the handle at a close above $330. This type of a formation, over this amount of time, is extremely rare and super bullish. I have in my 43 years never seen a technical formation of this kind for this long a duration with this type of symmetry. It is rare and important. This type of a formation will launch only one thing, a huge Bull market, if resolved to the upside. The probability of failure after gold breaks to the upside above $330 from this type of a formation is less than 10%. Those odds are outrageously good for the long.

We know the bull market in gold started 11 months ago, but history will record the breakout above the handle on the golden tea cup as "The Birth of the Gold Bull Market." This will occur because the amount of appreciation above the handle will be orders of magnitude compared to the 11-month appreciation we have already witnessed. Be assured that I am focused and will be keeping the Gold community as closely focused.

Letter to Jock McGregor, President of Vista Gold Corp.
      October 20, 2002

      Mr. Jock Mc.Gregor
      Littleton-Colorado

      Distinguished Mr. McGregor:
A short time ago I sent you a message referring to a problem in your mining property of Amayapampa relating to my pending salaries. I eagerly begged for you to find a solution to this problem so distressing for me and my family.

Now I am sending you another letter hoping that this time you may give me some answer.
Respectfully I wish to tell you that my claim is absolutely legal, legitimate and just as I told you in my last letter and that I am not trying to get advantage from you. I ask who of you, being in my place and situation would not have proceeded as I did? A rational person I am sure would have done the same, otherwise he would be a fool and stupid. We cannot justify war saying that life is so while there is a criminal mind that deliberately initiates it, right? Nor can we hide the sun with a finger, right?
I never had any problem with any body and if there was one, it was from the other not me. On the contrary I stood on the side of your mine working and defending the interest of your company in the most difficult places and situations as was the killing in Amayapampa and Capacirca in 1996. I am not responsible nor blamable that your company hired unqualified and unprofessional persons as was the case of the German citizen Klaus Hinz who said he was an engineer but was nothing more than a chauffeur and a car mechanic with a tainted past and bad moral references. It seems your company treats its enemies better and treats its friends with ingratitude.

Notwithstanding I see it necessary in order to avoid misunderstanding to clarify that I am not against nor is an enemy of your company, on the contrary I always was a friend and a defender of your company and of the private investment in Amayapmpa and in my country. In spite of all, I wish to not be misunderstood. And it is not my intention to look for confrontation nor make enemies and that I don’t harbor criteria and ideas of taking the mine or things like that, because I am a person of peaceful living and work and of respect of private property who inculcates this thinking to my miner friends and local
people of Amayapampa, otherwise the history of Amayapampa mine would have been different.
Furthermore I want to respectfully comment to your opinions to my previous letter, that willingly, if there is a chance, I would go to the States to work in the hardest, dangerous and poorly paid jobs because we are accustomed to that and even worse. To what I meant in my letter was not the arduous and hard work, what I wanted to point out is the ill faith, bad disposition and bad intentions to which I was deliberately submitted. When this unjust problem comes to an end, with that money I will probably go back to Russia or to the U.S. or any other country. What interests me is to get trained, learn English and prepare myself professionally to work in the Amayapampa mining project when the work initiates. I also want to clarify that even having certain knowledge and education about socialism I do not identify myself with it, and that I do not favor one or the other political systems of nations, I respect them.
If a stockholder tolerates abuse of power and injustice it must be because he is submissive and patient. I thank the ones who gave me advice and wished me luck. In the mean time, I wish, please that you can find an amicable and peaceful solution to my difficult situation, and that I will however continue to look for ways to get help from other organizations.
With nothing else to add I hope for your altruism and empathy, thanking you in advance,
      Ricardo U. Laime Siñaniz

Vista Gold Corp. Extends Mineralization at Maverick Springs Project in Nevada

Denver, Colorado December 16, 2002 - Vista Gold Corp. (TSX & AMEX: VGZ) has completed a 7,020-foot drill program on its Maverick Springs project, approximately 50 miles southeast of Elko, Nevada, on the southeast extension of the Carlin trend. The program consisted of seven vertical reverse circulation holes, 500 feet to 2,200 feet from previously identified mineralization. All seven holes encountered flat-lying mineralization, predominantly oxidized to depths of up to 900 feet.

The thicknesses are considered true widths. Gold assays were full assay-ton fire assays; silver assays were atomic absorption measurements from an aqua-regia leach solution. All assays were completed by American Assay Labs in Reno, Nevada, with industry-standard QA/QC procedures. All intervals are weighted averages of five-foot samples.

The program was successful in outlining continuous mineralization in a 2,200-foot by 1,200-foot area, immediately adjacent to known gold-silver resources. With additional in-fill drilling, this newly outlined mineralization has the potential to significantly increase the resources reported in our press release of November 5, 2002.

The Maverick Springs mineralization occupies an area 6,000 feet by 2,500 feet, indicating a very large mineralized system. Higher grades in gold have been intersected in the northern-most hole, MR135; and higher silver grades were encountered in MR130, the western-most drill hole. Maverick Springs is considered a silver-rich Carlin-type system and the mineralization is from 100 to 400 feet thick. As previously announced, subject to completion of a formal agreement, Vista will grant to Silver Standard Resources Inc. (TSX Venture: SSO; Nasdaq SmallCap: SSRI) an option to acquire Vista`s interest in the silver resources hosted in the project.

The exploration program was designed and supervised by qualified person Warren Bates, B.Sc., P.Geo., a graduate of the University of Manitoba with a B.Sc. (Honours.) majoring in Geology (1985). He is a member of the Association of Professional Geologists of Ontario.

Vista Gold Corp. is an international gold mining, development and exploration company based in Littleton, Colorado. Its holdings include the Paredones Amarillos project in Mexico; the Hycroft mine, Maverick Springs and Mountain View projects in Nevada; and the Amayapampa project in Bolivia.

      Quote:

      Institutional Ownership Increased

      Alert Message
Institutional holdings of this company increased significantly.

      Alert Description
This alert signals an increase of at least 5% in institutional holdings of a company`s stock.
Financial institutions like banks, insurance companies, hedge funds and pension trusts own the vast majority of shares of stocks around the world. As an example, the largest public mutual fund that only owns shares of companies in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index -- the Vanguard Index Trust 500 Portfolio -- has less than $50 billion in assets. In contrast, the world’s financial institutions are estimated to hold more than $600 billion worth of S&P 500 stocks.

These financial institutions have the best investment research in the world available to them, and regularly visit the management team of companies in which they buy shares. Consequently, they are considered to be the "smart money" that everyone talks about.

When these institutions decide to invest in a company, the move is generally considered to put a stamp of approval on the firm’s prospects. Every time that institutional ownership increases, moreover, the stamp of approval becomes firmer.

Increasing institutional ownership has the further effect of stabilizing the price of a stock, and creating a "floor" for its value. That’s because an institution that buys 5% of a company’s outstanding stock takes those shares out of circulation for some time, diminishing the number available for others to buy. Investors who want to buy the stock subsequently must fight over a diminished supply -- a situation that tends to make the stock dearer.

By itself, however, an increase in institutional ownership is not a reason to buy or hold a stock. It is just a clue that the stock is in demand by some pretty smart folks. Their ownership can be a two-edged sword, since a stampede out of a stock by institutions can cause millions of shares of a stock to flood the market, diminishing their value.

To determine which large institutions hold this stock, check Form 13-D and Form 13-G SEC filings in Stock Research. Any owner of more than 5% of a stock must tell the government -- and, by extension, you -- of any changes in their holdings within 10 days.

Note that institutional ownership is less of a factor for small- and medium-cap stocks. Since large institutions tend to take large positions, they tend to invest in large companies.
