Der US-Ökonom W. Brian Arthur, ein Citibank Professor, der zur Zeit am Santa Fe Institute lehrt, prognostiziert, dass der "richtige Boom" im Internet erst noch bevor steht.

Viele Analysten und Anleger gehen nach dem Platzen der Spekulationsblase vor zwei Jahren davon aus, dass die Boomphase des Internets vorbei sei. Arthur widerspricht: "Die Geschichte zeigt, dass solcher Pessimismus fehl am Platz ist."

Und der Volkswirt, dessen Research Arbeit bei dem Kartellverfahren gegen Microsoft benutzt wurde, fügt hinzu: "Die besten Tage der Informations Revolution könnten in Wirklichkeit noch vor uns liegen."

Arthur fügt hinzu, dass der Boom im Internetsektor "im Grunde einer der vielen technologischen Revolutionen war, die sich seit Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts ereigneten."

Die industrielle Revolution von 1760-1820, die Revolution während des Eisenbahnzeitalters von 1825-1875, die Revolution, die durch Stahl und Elektrizität von 1875-1920 ausgelöst wurde und schließlich die Revolution im Fertigungssektor von 1910-1970 entwickelte eine Spekulationsblase, die danach wieder platzte.

"Wenn wir die Informationsrevolution auf die einzelnen Jahre angepasst mit der Revolution im Eisenbahnzeitalter vergleichen, wären wir jetzt irgendwann im Jahre 1850 - gerade nach der Investment Mania nach 1845 und dem Crash von 1847," so Arthur.

Innerhalb von 65 Jahren nach dem Platzen dieser Spekulationsblase wuchs zum Beispiel in Großbritannien die Länge der Eisenbahnstrecken von 2,148 auf 21.000 Meilen, in dieser Zeit schrieben die Unternehmen satte Gewinne, sagte Arthus weiter.

Craig Barrett, der CEO von Intel, hat eine ähnliche Sichtweise: "Das Internet steckt noch in den Kinderschuhen. Die erste Phase hat sich eher für B2B Transaktionen ausgezahlt. Eine Phase in der Zukunft wird sich aber besonders für den Verbraucher als zuträglich erweisen." Barrett spricht hierbei kommende Breitbanddienste und Multimedia Applikationen im Mobilfunkbereich an.

Forrester Research erwartet, dass sich das Volumen des Online Business bis 2006 auf 7 Billionen Dollar verdreifachen wird. Damit wird das Internet in vier Jahren einen Anteil am gesamten Handelsumsatz der USA von rund 27 Prozent haben.

Shares of Circuit City (CC: news, chart, profile), the parent of Circuit City Group and CarMax, could be pressured Monday. An article in Barron`s said the electronic retailer`s financials are misleading. "Circuit City Stores ... consolidates 64 percent of CarMax`s (KMX: news, chart, profile) earnings and revenues into Circuit City Group`s income statement, giving the electronics retailer a 31-cent bump in earnings in fiscal `02," Barron`s said. The article said half the retailer`s profits in 2002 came from banking, not electronic sales. Without contributions from the bank and from CarMax, Barron`s said the retail electronics group would earn 26 cents a share in fiscal `02 vs. current targets of 93 cents. See full story.

Duke Energy (DUK: news, chart, profile) said it received an SEC exemption from the Public Utility Holding Company Act and expects to finish its $8.5 billion acquisition of Westcoast Energy (WE: news, chart, profile) (CA:W: news, chart, profile) on Thursday. The deal includes assuming $5 billion in debt and gives Charlotte, N.C.-based Duke control of British Columbia`s main natural gas pipeline and Ontario`s second-largest gas utility.

Moody`s lowered its rating of Equity Residential Properties Trust (EQR: news, chart, profile) and its subsidiaries, citing its expectation that the real estate investment trust`s operating performance will weaken in the near-term. Its outlook for the company is "stable." "Equity Residential had been operating with a weak credit profile even during a more robust operating environment," the ratings agency said. "Moody`s believes that more challenging market conditions will likely delay the firm`s progress in improving its credit statistics."

German aircraft maker Fairchild Dornier said Saturday that it`s in talks with strategic partners. "We are ... holding preliminary discussions with prospective strategic partners that can bring both financial capital and a wide range of product, technology and marketing capabilities to help us be successful," said Lou Harrington, CEO, in a statement. Fairchild Dornier vice president Bob Stangarone told The Seattle Post-Intelligencer that it is in talks with several company, but dismissed a report by Aviation Week magazine that Boeing (BA: news, chart, profile) will buy a "significant stake" in the privately held regional jet maker.

Moody`s downgraded its long-term debt ratings of Foster Wheeler (FWC: news, chart, profile) and said the company`s ratings are under review for possible downgrade. Moody`s said it undertook the action due to "heightened concern that the company is heavily reliant on the willingness of its bank groups to extend near-term debt maturities, and that its negotiations with its various banking groups may become protracted." Moody`s voiced concern about the construction company`s operating outlook, financial health and liquidity position.

A Barron`s article suggested GlaxoSmithKline (GSK: news, chart, profile) is undervalued despite patent expirations and the dissipation of synergy savings from mergers. The Barron`s report praised the company`s marketing and distribution pipeline, suggesting it could license other firms` products profitably, and also talked up the drugmaker`s products in development.

The Hewlett-Packard/Compaq (CPQ: news, chart, profile) merger took another twist late Friday when the California Public Employees` Retirement System said it will vote against the deal. Although CalPERS holds less than half of 1 percent of H-P (HWP: news, chart, profile) shares, its decision could be influential. See full story.

An article in Barron`s said J.P. Morgan Chase (JPM: news, chart, profile) shares should recover as investors look for stocks that will benefit from an economic recovery. Shares have traded as low as $27 recently, following recent disappointments, including its exposure to Enron and Argentina. "What Wall Street seems to be ignoring is that the bank has an attractive set of businesses and about $30 billion in tangible capital to absorb further losses, should that become necessary," the article said. If the bank can generate $4 a share in annual profits, then later this year "don`t be surprised to see the stock price near $50."

Korean creditors of Hynix Semi said they`re willing to lend an additional $200 million to help ensure Micron Technology (MU: news, chart, profile) buys the troubled South Korean chipmaker, the Maeil Business newspaper reported on Saturday. Creditors want Micron to use the extra money to buy a stake in Hynix`s nonmemory operations to ensure their survival, the report said.

In what it called a move to increase the bond with its shareholders, KB Home (KBH: news, chart, profile) said 12 top executives increased their stock ownership in the homebuilding company. Ahead of the after-bell report, KB shares shed 50 cents to $43.98.

Kimco Realty (KIM: news, chart, profile), a real estate investment trust with about 500 U.S. properties, reaffirmed its financial outlook Friday afternoon despite owning 17 of the 284 stores that Kmart (KM: news, chart, profile) will close. Read about Kmart`s cuts. Hoover`s says Kimco receives about 10 percent of its revenue from Kmart. Other Kmart landlords said the closures were not a surprise and minimized the effect. Those REITS include Developers Diversified (DDR: news, chart, profile), Malan (MAL: news, chart, profile), IRT (IRT: news, chart, profile), and Crown America (CWN: news, chart, profile). New Plan Excel Realty Trust (NXL: news, chart, profile) said late Friday that the closure of five stores it owns would result in a lower earnings and revenue range. New Plan reduced its 2002 GAAP earnings range from $1.08-$1.14 per share to a range of $1.04-$1.10. Several of Kmart`s vendors also said Friday that the closures won`t hurt, and might actually help them trim costs. See full story.

Lockheed Martin (LMT: news, chart, profile) said it has received an order worth $355 million for five more C-130J transport aircraft for the U.S. Air Force. The planes will be delivered in 2004 as part of the 2002 defense budget.

Nara Bancorp (NARA: news, chart, profile) board has authorized the repurchase of up to 10 percent of its outstanding shares over the next 12 months. "This share repurchase is consistent with our capital management efforts and is an appropriate mechanism to enhance shareholder value," said Benjamin Hong, president, in a statement.

New Century Financial Corp. (NCEN: news, chart, profile) expects first-quarter and fiscal 2002 earnings targets to beat current analyst targets, citing production levels and a strong secondary market for loans. It now is targeting 2002 earnings per share of $3.90 to $4.10, up from $3.60 to $3.80. The company also said Friday that its subsidiary, NC Capital, negotiated a $1.4 billion forward sale commitment of fixed- and adjustable-rate loans with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Mortgage Capital (MWD: news, chart, profile).

SanDisk (SNDK: news, chart, profile), a maker of data storage products, said Samsung has filed a patent infringement suit against it in Texas. SanDisk said it believes the suit is connected with the expiration later this year of a cross-licensing contract with Samsung.

Saturday a U.S. District Court judge extended a ban on individual claims against Sulzer Medica AG (SM: news, chart, profile) by one week. Medica said in a statement that Judge Kathleen O`Malley had extended the injunction until March 15. Medica already announced in early February that it had reached the tentative agreement to settle lawsuits filed by patients who received its faulty hip or knee implants.

An article in Barron`s Online said Timberland (TBL: news, chart, profile) has stumbled in the past eight months, as the recession cut into demand for its high-priced footwear and warm winter weather decreased business for its winter clothing. But Barron`s said Timberland has "tremendous" room to gain market share in the United States. As well, Barron`s said the company`s fans on Wall Street view the stock as cheap and contend the company has a strong brand name, consistent cash flow, and strong balance sheet.

In its flurry of asset shedding and debt cutting, Williams (WMB: news, chart, profile) said after the close Friday that it is pursuing the sale of Williams Pipe Line to Williams Energy Partners (WEG: news, chart, profile) for $900 million. The energy conglomerate had previously announced deals with Warren Buffett`s Berkshire Hathaway that brought in $1.2 billion. See full story. Gratulation!! .... aber ich bin nun mal ein Fan der Verlustbegrenzung!! .... klar hab ich Verlust gemacht!! Den 714637 CIT Put zu 2,73 gekauft und zu 2,66 verkauft!! Also alles noch im Rahmen des erträglichen. Konsequenz mag sicherlich eine Tugend sein, aber sie kann auch im Extremfall zu Totalverlust führen. .... das schadet den Nerven und dem Geldbeutel!
Drücke Euch natürlich nachwievor die Daumen, daß ihr gut Gewinn mit Euren Putz macht!

Hell,

ich bin raus und zufrieden. Die Futures waren mir nicht
tief genug.

Von Verlustbegrenzung halte ich nur bedingt etwas. Ich
habe zu oft erlebt, dass Scheine, die 30 % in den Miesen
waren, mit 50 % Plus geendet haben.

Ich bin aber auch kein Daytrader. Da hätt ich schon einen
Herzkasperl bekommen und meine Investition liegt im
Moment bei 10 % des Barbestandes.

Der Dax fällt weiter, logo, thanks to Delegümm, aber für
mich ist der Tag erledigt.
