iSTARK Selects BroadVision for Cement Industry’s First Complete Web Portal

iSTARK Deploys BroadVision’s Enterprise Business Portal Applications to Deliver Personalized Applications to Users Worldwide

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.—August 5, 2002 — BroadVision, Inc. (Nasdaq: BVSND), the leading provider of enterprise business portal applications, today announced that iSTARK Corporation, a leading e-business application service provider for the international cement and concrete community, has integrated BroadVision® applications with its Intelligent Customer Environment (ICE) portal. This Web portal enables iSTARK clients to deliver tailored access to cement products, proprietary account information, as well as business and industry intelligence at a glance to their users.
“When iSTARK embarked on building a customer-focused portal for clients, we knew that offering a high level of personalization was critical,” said Dave Codack, president and CEO for iSTARK Corporation. “BroadVision was selected because it had the functionality iSTARK required and its long-term direction and vision was in tandem with ours. We’re confident that BroadVision’s portal applications will continue to provide a strong foundation for the ICE portal and will meet our needs moving forward.”

The iSTARK ICE portal plugs into a client`s backend ERP systems and extends the business processes and data contained in those systems to a wider audience. Because ICE is an enterprise portal, it has the capability to integrate existing and future business channels to provide a single company view to the customer across multiple information environments. Whether iSTARK clients want to extend their buying power to their customers, offer complementary products and services, or link into Supply Chain Management (SCM) or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, the ICE enterprise portal allows clients the potential to share information and conduct business regardless of information source.

Based on industry-leading BroadVision One-To-One® advanced personalization technology the ICE portal helps cement companies personalize their Web applications for their users according to numerous variables. For example, information and functionality can be tailored according to users’ geographic location, market segment and even to individual user’s needs. Functionality is also “role-based”, meaning that it can be delivered specifically according to each user’s role within their company. Users can also personalize their Home Page and Profile to access the tools and information that maximize efficiencies in conducting business with iSTARK clients.

“We’re pleased to extend our partnership with iSTARK. Their approach to portal solutions for the global cement and concrete industry has been well accepted by the market, having already approximately 1500 users worldwide,” said Sanjay Gupta, senior vice president of marketing and alliances for BroadVision. “Using BroadVision as the basis for its portal offerings, iSTARK offers cost-effective, highly personalized portal solutions to the cement and concrete market.”

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.—August 6, 2002 — BroadVision, Inc. (Nasdaq: BVSND), the leading provider of enterprise business portal applications, today announced that Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), a subsidiary of Indian Railways, has gone live with their new reservation web site. Indian Railways’ web reservation system, powered by BroadVision®’s enterprise business portal applications, now enables Indian Railway train tickets to be purchased from anywhere in the world and have the tickets delivered to their doorstep.
Prior to the launch of the IRCTC reservation site, passengers could only make train schedule inquiries. Reservation capabilities were nonexistent and passengers were required to visit the nearest reservation center to purchase tickets. Using BroadVision applications, IRCTC now provides Indian Railways passengers with convenient online booking. Passengers can check train fares, routes and availability in real-time and receive alerts about rail schedules. In addition, passengers can subscribe to an alert service that advices them about PNR status at fixed intervals.

The reservation site will add a new source of revenue for IRCTC because the online booking service charges varied prices for first-class and second-class seating. The site also promotes railway tour packages to help increase India’s tourism.

In the future, IRCTC intends to expand its travel portal to leverage BroadVision’s advanced personalization capabilities to the fullest extent. In the next phase, IRCTC’s travel portal will add other tourism and reservation touch-points and expand ticket delivery services to all major cities in India.

“We are confident that the BroadVision applications will add a significant new dimension to Indian Railway’s customer facilitation efforts in addition to increasing customer loyalty all around by making train information and tickets more accessible,” said M.N. Chopra, Managing Director IRCTC. “We are very happy with our choice of BroadVision for our project. The BroadVision global services team displayed tremendous dedication and commitment in ensuring the successfully implementation of the IRCTC web site.”

“IRCTC is a great example of BroadVision’s ability to deliver self-service to travelers by automating a number of associated business processes,” said Sanjay Gupta, senior vice president of marketing and alliances for BroadVision. “Like other travel companies, Indian Railways has recognized the value in implementing a web reservation system. BroadVision is happy to be helping Indian Railways achieve their online business goals.”
