Ditech Communications Announces Record Revenues and Earnings
Revenues Increase 385% Over Fiscal Q3 1999; Earnings Per Share Reach $0.83
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Ditech Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: DITC - news) today announced record revenues and
earnings for the third quarter of fiscal 2000 of $34.4 million and $0.83 per share on a pre-split basis ($0.41 on a post-split basis). This quarter`s results mark the
9th consecutive quarter of revenue growth for the company.
Revenues for the third quarter ended January 31, 2000 were $34.4 million, up 385% over revenues of $7.1 million in the same quarter last year. Revenues for the
first nine months of this fiscal year were $70.2 million, up 289% over revenues of $18.0 million for the first nine months of fiscal 1999.
Net income for this quarter was $11.9 million, up from $190,000 in the same quarter last year. Net income for the first nine months of fiscal 2000 was $21.1
million, up from $257,000 for the first nine months of fiscal 1999. Earnings per share this quarter were $0.83 per share on a pre-split basis and $0.41 per share on
a post-split basis (see notes below)(1&2). This compared to a loss of ($0.05) per share on a pre-split basis and ($.03) per share on a post-split basis for the same
quarter last year (see note below)(2).
``We are extremely pleased and proud of this quarter`s results, which exceeded everyone`s expectations-including our own,`` said Tim Montgomery, Ditech`s
President and CEO. ``If I had to quickly summarize these results, I would describe our quarter as `hitting on all cylinders.` On the optical side of our business,
we`ve met our revenue goals, and we`re successfully investing in and executing our OEM strategy. On the voice and echo cancellation side of our business, we are
aggressively taking market share from our chief competitor, and we have substantially exceeded our revenue plan for this segment of the business. We completed
the key strategic acquisition of Telinnovation, which gives us a leadership position in voice enhancement software for the emerging voice-over-packet market. We
also signed up several new customers, including two new optical customers, and signed a major five-year supplier agreement with Teleglobe, the fifth largest long
distance carrier in North America. This was, in short, a stellar quarter for Ditech.``
Ditech Communications Corporation
Ditech Communications Corporation is a global telecommunications equipment supplier for voice and data networks. Ditech`s voice products are high-capacity
echo cancellers, which utilize advanced software and digital signal processor (DSP) technology. This unique combination of software and hardware allows Ditech
to deliver Voice Quality of Service (VQoS(TM)), a robust and cost-effective solution for voice enhancement and echo cancellation. Ditech`s products for data
networks provide building blocks for high-speed, high-capacity backbone networks. These products are based on wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), a
technology that enables many wavelengths of light, each carrying multiple gigabits of information, to be carried on one fiber optic connection. With Ditech`s WDM
products, network equipment companies and service providers can quickly and cost-effectively expand their network capacity to meet the growing demands of the
Internet age without incurring the vast time and expense of laying new fiber optic cable. Ditech (DITC) is listed on the Nasdaq National Market and is
headquartered in Mountain View, California (Web site: http://www.ditechcom.com ).
