melde mich zurueck - anbei ne interessante meldung zum thema sars - effect in der stahlerzeugenden industrie in china. wie es scheint, ist die stahl- bzw. stahlverarbeitende inustrie kaum betroffen von der sars problematik. dieser aspekt laesst auf spektakulaere zahlen hoffen.
meine schaetzung:

To date, the outbreak of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) epidemic in China has not produced any noticeable impact on the country`s metals industries , industry sources and analysts told Interfax. However, they admit that an impact on industry operations would be inevitable if the SARS epidemic persists long enough to drastically slow down the country`s overall economic growth rate.
"Our company`s operations are quite normal , since our sites are mostly located in inland regions, such as Guizhou and Qinghai, where few SARS infection cases have been reported," said Zhang Qing, PR Manager of Aluminum Corp. of China (Chalco), China`s sole alumina supplier and largest aluminum producer.
Similar responses were given by major Chinese steel companies to inquiries by Interfax about the spread of the SARS epidemic on their operations. "We haven`t felt any strong influence from SARS on our production and sales at the moment," said a spokesman with Beijing-based Shougang Corp., China`s third largest steel maker.
The epidemic has produced no visible impact on metals trading either , sources noted. Copper and aluminum trading has been proceeding smoothly on the Shanghai Futures Exchange, as has gold trading at the Shanghai Gold Exchange.
"Some people may have linked the ups and downs of recent copper and aluminum prices to SARS, however I believe this is more of an excuse than a real explanation," said Ma Weihua, a copper futures trader on the Shanghai Futures Exchange. "I think the ultimate forces determining the prices of metals are supply and demand." No visible SARS-incurred changes have happened to metals supply and demand as yet, he noted.
His view was echoed by Jim Lennon, a London-based metals analyst with Macquarie Bank, who believes that the impact of the SARS epidemic on China`s metals industries will be minimal in the short-term, with metals trading and production continuing as per normally.
There may be an easing in China`s economic growth because of SARS, but to what extent the epidemic will affect the country`s overall economic growth will to a large extent depend on how well the Chinese government contains the spread of the disease, he noted.
Although the SARS epidemic has not exerted any substantial influence on the production of Chinese metals industries, it has apparently started impacting other aspects. Several domestic and international conferences and exhibitions on various metals products, due to be held in China, have either been cancelled or postponed, due to concerns about the spread of SARS throughout the country.
The epidemic has also impacted the life of employees in the metals industries. The spokesman for the Shanghai Gold Exchange was unavailable for comment, because he was asked to quarantine himself at home for a few days after returning from a business trip to Beijing, one of the hardest hit cities in China from the impact of SARS.
Meanwhile, several residential communities in Beijing, where SARS has claimed at least 56 lives, have been put under quarantine, with no one allowed to leave or enter. "Our company`s operations will definitely be impacted if many of our workers are infected and our machines are forced to stop running," the spokesman of Beijing-based Shougang said. He declined to reveal whether or not his company already had any infected or suspected SARS cases among its employees.
The worst-case scenario is that the SARS epidemic will bring many economic activities to a standstill and thereby significantly slow the country`s GDP growth, noted Shanghai-based futures trader Ma Wei Hua.
"If we look at the longer term, metals industries will certainly be impacted if the SARS epidemic causes a slowdown in the economic growth of our national economy, causing a reduction in the domestic consumption of metal products," he added.
According to the latest release made by China`s Ministry of Health, by 10 AM April 27, a total of 2,914 people had been infected by SARS across the country, of which 131 had died. Meanwhile, another 1,921 suspected SARS infected cases had been reported.

These were massively higher than in the previous year - by 42 percent for carbon steel and by 39 percent for stainless steel. The only product area to show a significant decrease in imports was billets and slabs (down 44 percent), and this can be attributed to the enormous growth in domestic steel production.
We calculate China`s apparent crude steel consumption last year to have been approximately 210 million tonnes. That was an increase of 21 percent over the previous year.
There have been numerous predictions as to how long this surging growth in Chinese demand will continue. The country has embarked on a series of major infrastructure projects, which will consume considerable quantities of steel through to the middle of this decade. The current five-year plan period (2001-2005) includes the construction of large-scale gas and electricity transmission lines going from one end of this vast country to the other, as well as waterways to tackle China`s increasingly severe drought problems, plus railways and other transport projects.

Fein, sie haben einen Gewinn gemacht letztes Jahr. Leider netto nur halb so viel wie berichtet, denn dank eines "Deficits on revaluation of a long-term investment" ergab sich eine EK-Minderung um mehr als 3 Millionen HK$.
Der tatsächliche Gewinn in der Periode vom 31.3.2002 bis zum 31.3.2003 betrug also umgerechnet zirka 350.000 €. Bei einem Kurs von 0,022 ist der Laden mit ca. 34 Millionen Euro bewertet, wir landen also ziemlich präzise bei einem KGV von 100. KBV also 22, siehe oben.
Warum kauft Ihr Euch eigentlich nicht sowas wie ebay. Die sind ähnlich astronomisch bewertet, aber ein bisschen besser einzuschätzen?

Aber die Rechnung geht, glaube ich, anders. Wenn man 10 000% machen will, wäre man mit Ebay bei einer Marktkapitalisierung von 3 500 Milliarden Dollar. Bei Isteel ist man nur bei 3,8 Milliarden US-Dollar. Deswegen glaubt man eher an diese kleinen Werte. Und: push du mal Ebay um nennenswerte Prozente!
